After being let down with our original booking, we found the Black Lion Hotel.
It's set in a small, quiet village near the river.
We had a superb evening meal, the pub was busy in both the bar and restaurant area all evening, which is always a good sign.... the food was superb, service was excellent
The room we stayed in was quiet, clean, the bathroom was a good size, the bed was comfy.
The breakfast in the morning was superb quality made from local produce. ...

'Husband and I have just stayed here for a week with our big puppy and can honestly say the place is so beautiful, Jo and her husband have done a fantastic job with the pod and making it so homely inside. The pod had everything available from bed linen, towels, tea towels, cooking equipment, utensils, toaster, microwave , iron, ironing board, hair dryer, books, log burning fire and more.
Also for added security there is a fire blanket, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, smoke alarms and security...

'Amazing, truly an exceptional cottage. Has everything you could possibly need. Excellent communications. Was met by Sue, the host at check in. She went through everything I needed to know. The cottage is situated opposite the Eagle and child pub. Delicious food, super friendly and great value for money.

'Very remote, which was both good and bad. Good as really felt away from it all, and therefore very relaxing, but access was by a steep dirt track and really only suitable for 4x4 vehicles.
The property is very large and spacious, well equipped kitchen (only thing missing was a corkscrew!) with nice comfy beds and a very large garden.
Clean enough to be comfy but no so much that you felt the kids couldn’t run in and out for fear of getting the floors grubby. A lovely mix of old rustic charm and...
