'We have enjoyed a fantastic 2 night stay, the location was spot on only 2 minutes to Lake Windermere and the ferry landing point. Colin is the perfect host, very attentive, knowledgeable of the area and looked after us well. Breakfast was a lovely; full English in a cosy setting. The room was fine with all amenities. It was our birthdays whilst there and Colin decorated the room, these touches are most appreciated. Definitely recommend 10/10'

'The room was neat and tidy yet very little space for a double room, more like a single room. Some staff were more conscientious than others at breakfast time. The menu was more akin to a good pub rather than a nice hotel. The setting was superb but the property was undergoing refurbishment which spoilt it a bit.'

'Such a relaxing stay! Huge room with comfortable beds and plentiful tea and coffee facilities - especially nice local touch using Herdy mugs. Spa and pool were very nice, and lovely outdoor spaces to relax right on the lake. Would have loved more time to spend a lazy afternoon in the cosy surroundings getting lost in a book. Good cooked breakfast, my husband especially enjoyed the smoked haddock and poached eggs. Would love to come back and stay longer next time!'

'A classic 18 century coaching in with Ultra modern facilities and Michelin level food the staff are really helpful and can’t do too much for us helping us tune our TV to ensure that we had ability to watch the World Cup games. The food is a different level to coaching and could be a Michelin star restaurant the court outstanding and the quantity very generous. 'Front Reception was excellent! From that point on everything went down hill. A very run down room with a dirty window looking over the car park. Threadbare carpet and frayed edges of the mattress hanging down. Dated decor and a less than pristine bathroom with a disgusting non slip mat! Really! Loud music played in the breakfast room. 'Na 13 jaar weer opnieuw naar dit hotel gegaan. Voor de zekerheid een superior kamer geboekt. Volgens de website van het hotel krijg je dan zicht op de tuin of omliggend bos. Bij onze kamer was dat de parkeerplaats. De kamer was op zicht prachtig, ruim en goed ingericht. Alleen bleken de muren in dit annex-gedeelte van het gebouw wel erg.
