COZY TIME
This was the best stay I've ever had in Grand Marais, and I will be making it my go-to for future solo (with dog) retreats up north. One word sums up the Studio: COZY. I came in winter, and that's what I needed. Lynn did everything to make this spacious studio cozy, even turning up the water heater so that the faucets produced very hot water when it was subzero outside! The overhead track lighting in the Studio made the space warm and inviting throughout. I will stay in the summer too to enjoy the skylights. Another win for this property is the view from the many windows: you're right on Lake Superior. For those of you with dogs who need just a short walk, the road outside the Studio runs parallel to the lake, so on those walks, you always have a great vista to enjoy. Croftville is just about a mile north of Grand Marais, so I was in close proximity to all the amenities I needed in town. Lynn is very responsive, and her manual inside made the check-in and check-out process transparent. Highly recommend!

Great stay near Grand Marais
Very good for exploring Grand Marais and points north. Appreciated we could bring out two critters along. Unit is set up nicely for furry family members. Quiet neighborhood right along the shoreline. Comfortable space to hang out, appreciated the book library with the local themed titles.

Comfortable cabin with sounds and full view of Lake Superior
The large room with 3+ beds, kitchen, dining table with full view of Lake Superior was perfect for 3 yoga men who cooked, eat and hiked together for a week. We enjoyed the simple convenience of separate shower and toilet, well equipped kitchen and even the ability to trickle charge Tesla over night when in a pinch. The owner called after the check in to make sure we knew about the additional queen inflatable bed. The Croftville Rd is really a quiet promenade with a little of very slow car traffic and all the neighbors being very friendly. I highly recommend it if you don’t mind a single living area. The only improvement I can think of is a fan in the toilet room but opening the toilet door and windows when we left for the day took care of the problem.

Perfect north shore retreat
Great communication with host! Very accommodating and clear instructions when you arrive. You can see and hear Gitchi Gama, and the little balcony was perfect to bask in the morning sun listening to the waves. Great location to town and our favorites in the area. There is so much to do in the area, but you will have comfortable accommodations if you decide to stay in. The road that they are located on is perfect for morning walks, too!

2023 spring break
The studio was a perfect place for my daughter, and I to enjoy our spring break. It was roomy the beds were very comfortable. The coffee that was provided was amazing. We had a wonderful snowfall that occurred on our second night there. It was quickly moved the next morning so that we could go and explore.

This was such a lovely place to stay. It was a gorgeous, quiet area with lots to explore all around. The weather was a bit colder than we would’ve liked but the cabin was cozy. Stocked with games to play inside! Plus, our dogs loved being a part of the weekend. We will definitely be back.

Croftville Studio stay 22
The Studio is great and the location along Croftville Road is ideal! We sat on the deck overlooking Lake Superior every day and made a bonfire several nights. The Studio itself is plenty of space for my wife and I - plus our daughter and dog. She loves the day bed. The addition of a new stove and refrigerator means we didn't have to eat out all the time! We've stayed there twice and we will be back.

The loft itself is a nice little place and seemed just right for my husband and I and our little dog. When we first walked in, we noticed obvious yellow stains on the runner rug and our dog was very intent on sniffing several places on two other rugs. I almost took photos, but did not…my big mistake! We watched our dog like a hawk to make sure she wasn’t enticed to pee there too. She lost interest and we were out exploring waterfalls with her until evening each day, so we just made sure to take her out multiple times each evening until she’d done her business. No accidents. Several days after getting home we were astounded to get a message that our card on file was being charged for “multiple urine stains on carpet and floor”. Our dog is house-trained and we never left her unattended or unsupervised in the loft, which is just one big room so we would have known if she’d been urinating multiple times! We don’t appreciate the extra charges, but we are especially resentful of the implication that we are “those” irresponsible dog owners who don’t supervise or clean up after their dogs. We are NOT. I messaged the owner to ask if she could tell us or send pictures of where exactly the spots were and the only response I got was “Tried sending picture but won’t go through.” I’ve now read about VRBO extra charges to the card on file and I would just urge guests to take photos or create documentation if it appears there are any pre-existing pet stains. In our experience now a pet-friendly property with no pet fee is too good to be true! We had hoped to add this to our other two pet-friendly North Shore options that we’ve stayed at for years, but will definitely not be staying at this one again.

This place was perfect for me and my hubby. Once we arrived, we realized we could easily bring our youngest (only one still at home) with us. It was an easy location and so nice to be so close to the Lake!

We loved our stay in the Studio! Everything as great - clean, comfy, complete with all we needed. We especially enjoyed watching the ice shift and morph from the lakeside deck- so cool! Great jumping off spot for skiing up the Gunflint and close enough to town to grab donuts or a bloody.

Family get away!
We really enjoyed staying at the studio!! Lynn was great, super friendly! She even told us about the northern lights, although we didn’t get to see them but it was worth the time to go hunting for them. Affordable, Quiet, Dog-Friendly!
Great place to stay on the North Shore! For a “studio”, this actually is quite spacious and has good use of space. Very clean and inviting with nice decor throughout. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck and walking around the rocky beach—nice sunrises if you’re up for that. Had shared use of the bonfire pit, which was great as we made some new friends while there. Best part was our dog was welcomed without any ridiculous pet fees. Definitely would return and recommend to anyone looking for a quiet, reasonably priced vrbo option on the North Shore!

Not on the lake but…
This property is not on the lake but across the quiet road. The apt, while technically is an efficiency, is large and decorated to look like a one bedroom. The kitchen is complete and has an apt size stove and fridge. I had some issues connecting with owner due to cell phone reception so make sure you bring the details along with you. Only complaint was that we didn’t know exactly which deck overlooking Lake Superior was ours.

Wish you would have asked about deck across the road. There is only 1 deck not connected to a cabin and is large and stand alone. The deck on the lake is amazing.

Short get-away

Very nice, clean and had an abundance of supplies, dishes cookware, bathtowels etc. Had a good stay and was close to town the road was nice to ride a bicycle on and for walking.

Nice place close to Grand Marais
We really enjoyed staying at the studio. It was close enough to Grand Marais, but also far enough away to see tons of stars at night, to have a nice view of the lake, and to get some peace and quiet. Lynn, the host, was great (and prompt with her replies). The place was clean, cozy, and inviting, and is very pet friendly (at the last minute we chose to leave our dog with a friend, and regretted not bringing her!). The ONLY very small thing is that from the pictures we believed that the property was actually on the lake, and had its own private deck and fire area. While there is a deck and fire area to use, it should be known that they are communal for several of the properties nearby, and the studio itself is actually across the very quiet street from the lake. Just a very minor incorrect assumption on our part, so we thought it important to share. But all in all, a great experience!

Lynn's studio is the perfect destination for some R&R in Grand Marais -- it offers clean and comfortable dwellings, beautiful shoreline access and easy access to town. Plus, she goes above and beyond in making the place pup-friendly. We had a great time!
