My girlfriend and I stayed three nights at Avli in late October of 2023. I can’t say enough good things about our experience! Our suite was beautiful and spacious with a wonderful private terrace which overlooked the charming cobblestone streets of Rethymno. There are two restaurants just below our suite (Avli and Raki Baraki) which offer some of the best food in a town known for its cuisine. Every single staff member, from the concierge to the restaurant servers, was extremely friendly and helpful. If we ever have the opportunity to visit Rethymno in the future, we will definitely make this our home base!

The property is extremely beautiful, the staff will go out of their way to accommodate you, and it was very comfortable. The location is very convenient, but you will hear people late at night still out partying. That does not bother me at all. My only gripe was that the shower would run out of hot water before you were done, and we don’t take long showers. But, other than that, everything was perfect.

This property exceeded all my expectations. It was really stunning. Dining was unique and delicious. Walk out door to shopping and dining. Parking was very convenient. Staff checked on us repeatedly through the day to ensure everything was great—-and it was.

Tolles Hotel mit sehr geschmackvollem Zimmern
Tolles Hotel mit nur 4 Zimmern - wir hatten das grosse sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtete "blaue" Zimmer. Auf dem Dach mit dem Whirlpool hat man eine schöne Aussicht auf die Stadt und auch das Restaurant ist SEHR empfehlenswert

Uniquely beautiful room
Our room (called the White room) at Avli was enormous and uniquely beautiful, and the bathroom was terrific. Very well appointed, i cant say enough about the room. And right up the stairs there is a beautiful rooftop area with a small pool (id call it more of a hot tub) and a covered area with a couch and a lovely view. The location was terrific, everything was right outside the door. Breakfast was fantastic and in a magical outdoor courtyard. It was kind of noisy until quite late (2am) as people sat outside at the restaurant downstairs. But we still loved our stay.

Romantiskt hotell i centrala Rethymnon
Fantastiskt hotell i centrala stan. Bara 10 rum och en personal som är otroligt serviceminded. Vi bodde i takvåningen med utsikt över hela stan. På hotellet finns 3 restauranger med väldigt hög klass. Frukosten fick toppbetyg! Byggnaden har flera hundra års historia och det känns som att åka tillbaka i tiden genom att bo här i de vackra stenvalven Rekommenderas varmt!!!

Phantastischer Rückzugsort in Mitten der Stadt
Es gibt sicher viele schöne , mit Sandstein verkleidete Zimmer in Rethymnon, aber in der „Blue Suite“ ist diese Idee besonders schön umgesetzt . Auf der riesigen Dachterrasse mit Pool , ist man oft alleine und kann den Tag schön ausklingen lassen .

Top Hotel!!!
Der Rezeptionsmitarbeiter war während unseres Aufenthaltes SEHR freundlich und hilfsbereit, wir wurden mit Tips versorgt und waren rundum zufrieden. Mitten in der Altstadt gelegen, vom Parkplatz nur 100 Meter entfernt, einfacher, bequemer und schöner geht es kaum. Wir empfehlen das Hotel gerne weiter und kommen jederzeit gerne wieder hier her!!!

A Jewel in Crete
I cannot say enough positive things about this hotel. The decor in my room was spectacular. The bed was the most comfortable I have had. The staff was friendly, charming and professional. This is my number one so far halfway into my trip. This will be in my plans for a return visit.

Ein wunderbares idyllisches Hotel inmitten der Altstadt. Sehr zuvorkommender freundlicher Service, hervorragendes langestypisches Frühstück, kostenloses Upgrade des Zimmers (größer und mit Whirlpool). Nächstes Mal möchten wir allerdings dann auch das normale Doppelzimmer mit Dusche kennenlernen, da der Einstieg in die Dusche/Whirlpool nur für "gut bewegliche" Persönchen etwas ist ;) Ansonsten war der Aufenthalt tippitoppi!!!!! Wir kommen garantiert wieder!!!!!!

Everything about this beautiful little hotel and our stay was wonderful, I cannot recommendation it highly enough! The staff are exceptional, so friendly, welcoming and helpful - we felt like family by the time we left! Our room (red suite) was beautiful, a quiet and cool oasis just around the corner from the main Avli restaurant in an immaculately renovated old Venetian building. The courtyard Avli restaurant and the food we ate there - breakfast, a lunch and special dinner was exceptional, amazing menu and ingredients. Make sure you go up to the rooftop terrace as the sun sets in the evening, the views are amazing and in late July the swifts were incredible to watch too - an unexpected but wonderful addition to our holiday! We loved our stay in this beautiful corner of Rethymno old town so much. We will be back!

This was an extraordinary property in the extraordinary Old Town section of Rethymnon -- a Venetian delight, architecturally more Italian than Greek. One would need to string together many superlatives to describe the Avli restaurant, where a memorable breakfast is served. We did not make it to the rooftop, where the hot tub was said to be out of action due to heavy spring rains. But it didn't matter. The staff couldn't have been nicer. Hospitality seems to be written into the Greek DNA. Avli has turned it into an art form, a level of graciousness we will always remember. There are only a few rooms in this former palace. Ours had a long wall of exposed rock. Book one, and you will not be disappointed!

Our stay at Avli was top notch! We were welcomed with a glass of wine in the beautiful restaurant. The staff was incredibly helpful with suggestions of sites to see, assistance with parking. The room was beautiful and historic. Beautiful outdoor space on the roof. Incredible location in the old town. Close to many boutiques, restaurants, and bars I’d also absolutely recommend the tasting menu in the restaurant during your stay. Delicious in a positively gorgeous space!

Great spot in a great city!
Great spot! Only real downside is that there is no shower - bath only. There is a spray hose, but no where to hook it up, and you have to stand awkwardly in the tub. Breakfast was amazing.

Love Avli! Fab place + food. Beds need an upgrade
Avli is a fabulous spot! Superb room, fabulous breakfast, charming staff. Very central with beautiful cobble streets to wander around. Bed could do with an upgrade, we stayed there 5 years ago & bed comfort levels have declined significantly! An easy fix I'd imagine.
