ShoreBreak cottage steekt 25 'boven de oceaan uit op een dramatische klif boven misschien een van de mooiste stranden op Eleuthera die bij de lokale bevolking bekend staat als' Secret Beach '. ShoreBreak cottage en Secret Beach liggen aan de Atlantische kust van Eleuthera, op 25 minuten van N. Eleuthera Airport (ELH) Het huisje ligt op een korte wandeling van 10 minuten of 5 minuten peddel naar het grotere en wereldberoemde Surfer's Beach. De schilderachtige en authentiek Bahamaanse Gregory Town ligt op 3,2 km naar het noorden. Alle foto's op deze aanbieding zijn genomen in ShoreBreak cottage en het "geheime strand" hieronder. Het leven in ShoreBreak cottage is alsof je een stap terug in de tijd doet. U kunt een drukke dag vol activiteiten plannen en de sensatie van duiken, snorkelen, vissen, surfen en kajakken ervaren. Of voor natuurliefhebbers, breng je Audubon natuurgids, maak een wandeling en zoek naar tal van soorten vlinders en vogels. Of beter nog, u kunt ervoor kiezen helemaal niets te doen. Leun achterover, ontspan en lees een boek en dommel 's middags in met de symfonie van de Atlantische Oceaan op het kristalheldere strand beneden. ShoreBreak cottage is gemaakt om harmonieus en respectvol te zijn voor zijn natuurlijke, onaangeroerde en prachtige omgeving. De visie voor ShoreBreak was om de natuur ten volle te omarmen en te ontsnappen aan de attributen van de moderne wereld. Geen televisie, geen computer, geen probleem. (WiFi is beschikbaar en mobiele telefoon en internettoegang via internationale roaming) .Nachtentertainment wordt aangeboden door de Galaxy hierboven. Bij ShoreBreak geniet je van rustige nachten en val je in slaap in het koor van de oceaan alleen om te dromen van het vangen van de zonsopgang in de ochtend. Kus de lucht, ruik het zout en geniet van de warmte van de zon op de veranda en het dek van ShoreBreak. Net onder ons dek, loop een korte trap van een tiental trappen af om grote rotsblokken en onontgonnen grotten te vinden. Directe toegang tot dit strand is beperkt tot ShoreBreak cottage en onze zus eigendom "ShoreTing" en beide eigenschappen kunnen samen worden gehuurd indien beschikbaar. Het strand neemt zijn eigen vorm en leven aan en verschuift constant, trekt uit en trekt zich terug met de getijden-, wind- en maancycli. We hebben het strand dagenlang letterlijk zien komen en gaan. En vergeet niet te genieten van onze buitendouche, al was het maar voor een snelle spoeling nadat u van het strand bent gekomen. ShoreBreak werd gebouwd in een traditionele en gezellige Bahamaanse stijl door een 3e generatie lokale bouwer die trots was op zijn ambacht. De buitenpost op basis van volkstaal ontleent zijn designaanwijzingen aan de oudere houten punthuizen op Harbour Island. Wit gewassen cipres met lokale oorsprong omhult het interieur en zorgt voor een warm gevoel. De build werd gecontroleerd door een internationaal gerenommeerde architect om ervoor te zorgen dat esthetische integriteit waarheidsgetrouw was. Een centrale leefruimte wordt geboekt door 2 slaapkamers aan de oceaan, elk met een queensize bed. Beide slaapkamers hebben een eigen badkamer. Een stijgend gewelfd plafond met 2 lofts. LET OP - de lofts maken geen deel uit van de huur, alleen de trap naar beneden 2 slaapkamers. ShoreBreak is ideaal voor 2 koppels of gewoon een huwelijksreis voor 2. Het huisje doet een beetje denken aan een houten schip en is gebouwd in de geest van de zee, avontuur, verkenning en de grens. Het beschikt over prachtige herbestemde mahonie jachtdeuren en koperen hardware in de slaapkamers, evenals patrijspoorten gered uit een vooroorlogse passagiersschip. Alle schuifdeuren met uitzicht op de oceaan waren afkomstig van een resort in de FL Keys dat niet langer staat. Secret Beach is een schat en ShoreBreak is gebouwd om gevoelig te zijn en een minimale impact op zijn natuurlijke omgeving te hebben. Het is volledig off the grid en zelf duurzaam. Het huisje is ontworpen om te profiteren van de verkoelende zeewind, maar biedt ook moderne gemakken zoals AC. We vragen onze gasten om altijd rekening te houden met hun verbruik van zonne-energie en water. AC-gebruik is beperkt tot avondgebruik om energie te besparen. ShoreBreak is voorzien van uw basisbehoeften, lakens, handdoeken, keukengerei, kookbenodigdheden, een ingebouwde gaskookplaat, grote koelkast en een eettafel. Of gebruik de Weber grill en grill wat verse kreeftenstaarten van je duik en dineer in de buitenlucht op het oceaandek onder de sterren. Of laat een lokale visser u de vangstdagen brengen. Je zult zeker vriendelijk worden met de mooie en eenvoudige mensen die het eiland thuis noemen. ShoreBreak is de essentie van de authentieke Bahamaanse eilandervaring. Dit is geen resort-ervaring. Geen paraplu drankjes. Het is een beetje leven aan de rand van het ruige, natuurlijke en mooie terrein. De oceaan beneden kan tumultueus zijn, dus wees uiterst voorzichtig. Dus de naamgenoot ShoreBreak. Dit gezegd hebbende, worden kinderen niet aanbevolen, tenzij ze altijd onder toezicht staan en worden alle gasten eraan herinnerd om uiterst voorzichtig te zijn op het terrein en het strand hieronder. ShoreBreak zoekt in hart en nieren avontuurlijke reizigers, sterrenkijkers, strandkappers en romantici. Genieten!

Minimalism Relaxation

Shorebreak can take you back in time. The cottage perched above the breaking waves of the Atlantic is nothing short of breathtaking. From morning coffee to evening conversation, the back deck was a centerpiece for the house. Unfortunately, the ocean took the beach out to sea the week we were staying there, but we adventured to over 10 beaches from French Leave Beach and Surfers Beach all the way up to swim with pigs and turtles. The house has all the necessities that you could need for a weeks stay. Mark's recommendations for car rentals, beaches and restaurants were A. Eleuthera is a diamond and I happily left with a golden Bahamian tan.

Raw, Wild, Seaside Stay You'll Never Forget!

Imagine sweeping seaside views from your cliff top deck, crashing waves, salt air invigorating your skin, gorgeous dark night skies, peace and quiet, and getting back in touch with nature. Now add a solidly built home with comfortable beds, clean & spacious bathrooms, ample kitchen, and lots of windows to take in the views. The home is on solar and that came in very handy one day during a planned island power outage- we were able to turn on the solar power to protect the food in our fridge/freezer. Also, the air conditioning was really nice to use in the dusk and dawn hours when you need to close up the home to avoid the "no see ums" getting inside. The rest of the time we loved opening the windows and turning on the ceiling fans to bring the fresh air inside. And be sure to get up early to catch the beautiful sunrise from this wonderful home/property!We'd also recommend renting an SUV through Robert Thompson (aka Mr Bones Car Rental). His wife, Tiffany, runs Daddy Joe's Restaurant in Gregory Town. Be sure to enjoy thier fresh delicious food and don't miss Taco Tuesday with live music! And when our departure flight was canceled last minute, Daddy Joe's provided us with a clean, comfortable room for the night. We felt well taken care of for sure.Thank you, Mark and crew, for a wonderful, memorable stay!

Majestic Clifftop Minimalism

Visited with partner and her parents. The road is rough, as with most roads off of the highway on Eleuthera. The house is beautifully minimal, but has the essentials that you need. The view from the house is breathtakingly beautiful, and the visceral experience down at the beach is humbling in the best way possible and in a way that I do not think can be re-created anywhere else.

Location, location, location! Unbelievable location! It was so calming to fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of the waves crashing. Charming little cottage with everything you need. Clean and comfortable. Excellent communication with Mark, the host. The only negative is not about the home itself, but rather the island as a whole. Businesses open and close as they please. No consistent business hours. While there, we tried 3 different restaurants for dinner. None of them were open on Saturday night. Ultimately ended up back at the cottage to cook dinner. So just make sure you have enough food for when plans A-C fail.

Jaw-dropping, cliff-top view!

Totally amazing! One of my top ten favorite vacations ever. The house is comfortable and well appointed with the essentials, but really, all we needed was that deck perched above the crashing waves with views east and west down the dramatic coastline. We woke up to coffee time on the deck, came home after the day’s exploring to happy hour on the deck, followed by star gazing on the deck! We didn’t want for anything. After seeing several cute towns, by our account, Gregory Town is the most wonderful with friendly and welcoming store keepers and townspeople. Lutra is a cozy gem and we plan to come again!

We missed the groundswell by 2 days but were blown away by the beauty and Caribbean coziness of Shorebreak Cottage. The sound of the ocean was relaxing as was the sound of the morning cicada songs and the passing ocean terns. The ocean breeze was healing. And the view… incredible. Pictures just cant translate how wonderful the view is. The cottage had all the necessary items; plenty of water, excellent a/c in the evening. Wifi was hyper-fast. Whatever else was needed we picked up at north eleuthera shopping ctr. A perfect stay. Very highly recommended.

A very special stay with an amazing view!

Our stay in Eleuthera was amazing. Nothing I write will make real justice to it. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the view, the privacy, and the beautiful landscape. The house offers the perfect blend of seclusion and convenience. It is spacious, airy, and comfortable and has everything you can need for simple but perfect days at the beach. The real highlight of this property is the outdoor space. The porch was the perfect place for refreshing nights with friends. The house has a beautiful deck for perfect sunset views making it easy and beautiful for a spectacular proposal. The house has excellent WiFi and the necessary equipment for cooking and spending amazing days connected with the landscape. Since the booking process the owner was extremely helpful and responsive. He has many useful information already highlighted on PDFs to make your stay as smooth and perfect as it can be. Overall, I can't recommend this rented house in Eleuthera highly enough. Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway or a family vacation, this is the perfect place to experience the beauty and tranquility of the Bahamas.

It is truly Spectacular!!

We are a family of 4. (2 children - 12 & 14) This was our second time to the Island and 2nd time Shorebreak. Place is spectacular - nothing beats the view and the secret beach. You do need to be careful when at the secret beach but it is very enjoyable. The place is off the Grid so its not your typical stay. We would definitely go back again. Communication with Mark, or Cecil a breeze. Any issue (if any) resolved same day or next. Our first stay here was in Dec 2022 - refer to our review posted Jan 17/2023. We are already looking forward to planning our next trip back, hoping sooner then later. The island itself is beyond awesome, we love everything about it. Soooo many beaches!!! For anyone visiting Eleuthera 1 recommendation is ensure you have bug repellent. Dec. 2022 not one issue with bugs, however this time there were No see ums that come out at dusk at the beaches. You don't even realize they are there until days after when you become itchy. It is Manageable, but better to be prepared. I believe its weather related - caught a few rainy days. Thank you for such a great stay. Hope to be back soon!

Perfection with ocean spray

We had a fantastic time at the Shorebreak house. it is simple and basic but has everything you will need to enjoy. Like many of the other more remote, Bahamian Islands Eleuthra is not a place to go, if you intend to be waited on. Things are few and far between, but the beaches are amazing and the locals are fantastic.. if you like vacations like this, I highly suggest flying over to Cat Island as well.

Great Escape!

We had a fantastic stay at shore break. The cleaning lady had not shown up before we got there, but the owner was very quick to make it right! Short trip down a dirt road with an incredible view. The night sky is incredible as there is almost no cultural lights.

The owner provided a really good list of things to do, expectations, and contacts. His referral for rental cars (Robert Thompson) and his wife were great resources for the island. They also own a local burger place in Gregory town that is super good.

Perfect January Vacation on Eleuthera

My wife and I stayed here with our parents for one week in January. The property is really a slice of paradise. We were able to fall asleep to the waves crashing against the rocks each night. We were lucky enough to have access to the beach because of tide/weather conditions were favorable most nights. I'm not sure what the swimming would be like as we were not brave enough to enter the water because of the powerful waves in this area. This was not a huge deal to us because beaches are everywhere on this island. The solar provided plenty of power day and night (this was January, so no AC was ever running). The kitchen was well stocked with basic spices and cooking utensils/silverware. We did have water issue on our first day as the supply ran out which caused some issues with the water heaters and facilities use, but between Cecil the caretaker and Mark the owner the problem was resolved by the next morning. We cooked meals utilizing the stove top and Weber charcoal grill provided (we didn't find grilling tools but were able to get by using the indoor ones). Cooking was no issue. Aside from the gorgeous property, the location was very convenient to many of our island destinations. Typically, we'd stay south of Governor's Harbor, but found that Gregory Town was much more convenient for our needs. We highly recommend this property because of the location and the excellent service we received from the owner. The only thing I missed was a blender to concoct my tropical cocktails. I tried to get a battery powered blender to bring along, but I couldn't find one in time. Rent this play now!!!

Amazing place to stay

Absolutely stunning spot! Spectacular views! We traveled other islands and now Eleuthera and Shorebreak has one of the most scenic views. This spot is "ocean front" in a league of its own! You see and hear the ocean from everywhere in the cottage. The sunrise, the crashing waves and salt mist, the private beach, stargazing and moonlit ocean... truly a magical spot! We got to use the secret beach twice and it was amazing! The cottage is great with comfortable beds, thoughtful set up and wrap-around decking. The Wi-Fi was 9/10, solar power worked great and again, it has a gorgeous view in every direction! We stayed for 11 nights and would have booked more if availability was there. Eleuthera is a fantastic island and our family of 4 (kids 10 and 13) had a great time discovering it! Mark had many great recommendations to help plan our trip! We rented a car from Robert at Daddy Joe's, (great place to eat) which was convenient with airport pickup and drop off. We booked 2 boat trips (no fishing for us) one boat trip was for the north part of the island (Turtles, pigs, snorkelling... all amazing) and one for the south (lighthouse beach, snorkelling and Schooners Cay) Both trips were great. For the south trip we went with Captain John (BIG MAC - from Davies Harbour), amazing guy and very friendly. Everyone we met on the island was very friendly and helpful. Kids' favourite restaurant was Rainbow Inn Restaurant. Every beach we visited was amazing, the sand was so soft and almost always we had it all to ourselves. There is so much you can safely explore on your own! We learned about Eleuthera by first coming across Shorebreak and we truly can't wait to be back to the island and to stay at Shorebreak again.

Unfiltered and fantastic

Stayed for a week at Shorebreak with a family of four. Everything about the house, the location, and the proximity to surfers beach was fantastic. The view and falling asleep to the ocean every night is amazing. Not one issue with living off the grid and the kids were able to surf every day with a short walk to Surfers Beach. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a quiet, simple vacation to reconnect with your family.

Beautiful and Relaxing

The description of this property is spot on. It is off the grid, rugged, beautiful, and relaxing. We spent hours on the deck just relaxing and watching and listening to the ocean. The power and wifi were fine. Having bedroom AC at night was needed (summer) and worked well. There are many activities to fill you day if wanted......various beaches, boat trips, fishing, snorkeling, caving, and local island restaurants as well as trips to Harbor Island or Spanish Wells. Recommend purchasing the Beach Book Eleuthera and map. Beaches are spectacular and only have a couple other visitors on them. Dirt/rock road the house is rough.. No for people looking for the usual resort type experience. A great place and location.

The perfect place

The most perfect house on the most perfect piece of land situated in the most perfect way. The views are incredible, the house in comfortable, and the entire experience is incredibly relaxing. Mark is a great host and Cecile will make sure you're well looked after on the island. The only reason not to stay here is so that its easier for us to book our next trip.

Amazing Long Weekend Getaway

This house was amazing! Waking up to the sound of the ocean and the beautiful views each morning was so relaxing. We LOVED the hammock off the back of the house and the lounge chairs that overlooked the Atlantic. The house was very clean and perfect for a long weekend (or longer!) away. Thank you!

Spectacular Experience

Let me start off by saying, I’m not easily impressed - I have high expectations. But this house and location is truly one of a kind! The location alone is beautiful enough to be a tourist destination! Breathtaking cliffs. A private beach. Complete privacy. The self sustaining house is a work of art inside and out. Simple and beautiful, modern and charming. I know we’ll be talking about to his house and property for years to come, Mark has truly something special here (and he was very communicative and helpful).

Shore Break did NOT disappoint!!!

Amazing experience being off the grid. We NEVER had an issue with the A/C it was ice cold on very HOT July days. The water was clear and refreshing. All the notes Mark provides are of great help. Just note some places may not be open since the shutdown. Trust me when I say this pack a checked bag of provisions. Food is very expensive! It was nice to hang at happy hour on the deck with snacks etc.
