Not a great stay
We’ve been coming to Gulf Shores for years and have stayed at several condos in Sunrise Village, but unfortunately, this was by far the worst experience we’ve had.Just before our trip, we were notified that the building would be under construction. While a full refund was offered, the notice was so short that we couldn’t find another place to stay—so we were stuck.From the moment we arrived, the view was completely obstructed by construction equipment, portable toilets, and noise from constant work being done. On top of that, the fire marshal and city inspector showed up on our first day and forced about a third of the building to vacate. The entire beachside section was shut down due to rotting wood and structural safety concerns.Inside the unit, things didn’t improve. The front door barely opened because the floor was so warped it blocked the door. A strong mildew smell hit us immediately. The bathroom had visible mold, none of the bedroom doors would latch shut, and the queen bed was rock hard with only a sheet and a paper-thin blanket provided.The dryer was another headache—despite cleaning the lint trap every time, it worked inconsistently. Sometimes it wouldn’t start, and other times it shut off mid-cycle.Needless to say, by the end of the trip, we were more than ready to leave. We love Gulf Shores and will definitely be back—but never to this unit again. It desperately needs repairs, updates, and a lot more transparency with guests
