Family Memorial weekend

Magical Experience
This was one of my very best one on Monday patients with my fiance. It was more than a home away from home. The views were spectacular, sunset and sunrise. We really enjoyed the pond. I paddle boarded while he fished and we just felt so relaxed. It was a great location close to town, wineries, and the river. I absolutely recommend staying!

This was a wonderfully renovated old farm house. The antiques that were used in the decor told quite a story of farm history. The house was clean and comfortable. My teens enjoyed exploring down by the ponds and taking photos of the horses and chickens that where in the area. The property was within driving distance to Dubuque, Pikes Peak, and Prairie Du Chien. A great, comfortable place to stay to visit the picturesque Iowa countryside.

Family Getaway
The prop was perfect for a family getaway. My adult children, mothe-in-law, and I stayed for a long weekend. The house was perfect for us. It is a beautifully restored stone house. The décor added to the charm of this home. It was close to many Mississippi River activities. There is also two ponds and a hiking trail. The family who owns the property are very friendly and accommodating. Also, theresident chickens are fun to watch.

Driftless Getaway
My family and I enjoyed a three day stay at this historic home. It had plenty of farm themed charm and a neat property to explore. Our favorite parts were the wooded areas for hiking and the neat buildings and equipment onsite.

Old Iowa Farmhouse
The Kann’s did a nice job renovating their family’s stone farmhouse keeping it’s century-old charm. It was interesting to read about the renovations and imagine living there without the modern amenities. The house was welcoming and comfortable. The kids enjoyed playing in the attic and barn. We also enjoyed walking around the property. There is beauty in the landscape of NE Iowa’s rolling fields and farms. In addition the farmhouse is close to a few state parks (great for hiking) and small Mississippi River towns.

Really beautiful, clean home
This was a great place to get away from the city, and really fun for my children. There is a basketball hoop and ping-pong table in the barn they could use, a tether ball, a swing, and shuffleboard in the attic. Aside from that, everything was really clean, beds comfortable, well-stocked with hand soap and paper products. Owner was very responsive.

Wonderfully Quiet, Comfortable, Restorative
We live in Central Wisconsin and arranged to stay at this lovely property as a way to meet our daughter who lives in Des Moines. There is a great fire pit, but too windy to light a fire. We did sit with her out by the fire ring to share time together socially distanced due to COVID. When it rained, we sat inside the barn, which was clean and had comfortable chairs. It is set up for weddings and gatherings, so quite comfortable for visiting. The bed was so comfortable, kitchen was great for preparing food, living area had nice seating for reading in the evening, and the front porch had a wonderfully comfortable swing which we used and enjoyed. Dining room had a large table for families or groups. We would stay here again in a heartbeat, and Brian, the owner was very kind and responsive when we had questions. Thanks so much for sharing this lovely home! We hope to return! Kathleen & Brian

Great Stay
This place is highly recommended if you enjoy a lovely farm setting and an old stone house. The view from the front porch across the Turkey River valley is memorable. Totally in the country but just a five minute drive to Guttenberg on the Mississippi River. Can see bluffs on the Wisconsin side on the horizon. Be sure to take the ferry across the river at nearby Cassville if you are coming from the east. Barn has a very functional basketball court for exercise. Recently refurbished.

We had an absolutely fabulous time at this charming and beautifully decorated house. The surrounding views and spacious property was an ideal place for a relaxing, laid back family vacation. Great for a country getaway
We had a wonderful escape from Covid -19 out on the farm. If you want to be away from everything and everyone, this is your place. The supermarket and town are a quick 5-10 minute drive. The Mississippi has a lot of activities to enjoy. The farmhouse is comfortable and has almost everything you need. There was plenty of room for everyone to stretch out and relaxed. it's not fancy. And it's a restored old farmhouse- so it has some quirks, the water pressure in the upstairs shower has it's challenges, you may encounter a mouse in the house or a bird or two in the barn. Animal droppings in the barn keep the kids from playing basketball. The game room in the attic doesn't have AC. So, if you are staying in the summer, plan on bringing the games down from the 3rd floor- the heat up there is unbearable. The owner- Brian is a very nice guy, but I'll be honest, it took a while to get a response from him via email. Although, everything worked out fine, we did not receive check-in information until the day of. He was great about bringing over an extra pot so we could cook up some pasta. The trails are great - and although the pond was covered with algae because of the heat- it was wonderful to see the catfish and the swallows hanging out during the day.

Great Family Vacation!
We enjoyed our time here. We spent time at the ponds: fishing, paddle boards, canoe, and zipline. We walked for an hour on the trails, and spent time together in the house: watching tv, playing games in the attic, and we loved sitting on the porch swing and just hanging out. We highly recommend this place!

Great Unique Spring Break Stay
Our Florida Spring Break trip was cancelled late due to Covid 19, so we looked for something closer for myself, husband, and three boys (age 3-8). It was an amazing time of exploring the property, playing games in the attic or sports in the barn, and enjoying the many rooms/nooks in the house to simply relax. Kitchen was well supplied with essentials for cooking/food prep. We stayed for 5 days and property had all amenities we needed and Brian was very responsive if any needs/questions. We enjoyed trips to the river/dam area by Guttenberg and the many State Parks within an hour of the property. The boys spent many hours in the attic with the games provided, in the barn playing ping pong or on the basketball hoop, or running around in the fields behind the property. Beautiful house with everything you need and then some! Would definitely stay there again and again!
Absolutely loved the house and the history! We have been going on a girls getaway for many years and we very much enjoyed our stay. Close to town but yet far enough away to have peace and quiet. The property was very nice and the owner stopped by to make such we were comfortable and to asked if we needed anything. The house had all the things we needed and plenty of room to hang out and do our crafts. I enjoyed walked the grounds and taking scenic pictures. Seen some beautiful sunsets and sunrises!
