Perfect location and views
We chose the Dome for our week long stay due to it's proximity to the state parks in northern Virginia, AND we'd choose to stay her again. We visited several new establishments, breweries, distilleries, and restaurants that have popped up or have missed since moving to central Virginia. We were out of the house everyday and then most nights came back and turned in for the evening. We couldn't zone out in front of the TV on the main living area because there isn't one. There is one downstairs but after our dog fell through the wonky, interesting steps, (she luckily fell on top of a box underneath and didn't get hurt) the gate remained closed and we stayed upstairs. We did catch an O's game sitting on the bed at the top of the spiral staircase, not good for back problems. The kitchen and bathrooms were very well stocked with everything you need. Both were very clean too. We planned to use the firepits and grill, and sit on the deck, we didn't get the chance. So glad switches were labeled. Home and furnishings seemed to be an ongoung renovation/upgrade. My biggest problem with our stay wasn't discovered till we had to shift furniture for game night; a vacuum really needs to visit under, behind, and in the furniture. Welcome binder needs to be updated and doesn't match the online check-in and check-out info. Thanks for opening your dome to our family.

A nice stay
I was here with 11 of my friends and we really enjoyed our time. It served its purpose as a place to stay for a week, but it wasn’t anything special. It was quite dirty, lots of dust and dog hair everywhere and mold in the bathrooms. It wasn’t anything we minded too bad, but definitely something to be aware of. There was enough space for us to hang out upstairs and downstairs, but sleeping arrangements were a bit tight with the 12 of us. It had everything we needed for the week and everything listed on the page except for the ping pong table which was kind of sad. The deck was a nice space to hang out, and there were plenty of trees for us to hang hammocks in the back.

Fantastic dome
Group of friends and I had a great weekend at the Dome. Everything you want out of a clean house is what we got. Plenty of sheets and towels. Billy was very communicative for the few questions we had. House is definitely off the beaten path (about 15 minutes away from nearest gas station) so make sure you get everything you need. The only heads up I’ll give is that the ladder step from basement to ground floor can be a bit steep and tough mobility wise if you have a difficulty moving around. Overall, would definitely recommend to stay. Especially if you have a group of friends.

Not-So Dreamy Fixer Upper
The name of the property, “Dome of Your Dreams,” suggests a high standard. Unfortunately, there was nothing dreamy about our stay. Upon arrival, we messaged the property manager with some concerns- dirt, hair, and mold in the refrigerator. Not a great first impression. Billy messaged back with an apology and offered to refund the cleaning fee (which he did) and the following night if we chose not to stay. However, after driving from out-of-state, and with two young kids, we decided to make the best of it. As the night progressed, we discovered lights that flickered or didn’t turn on, vents caked in dust, sloping floors, mildewy showerheads, an exposed electrical outlet, and a broken ping pong table (among other things). Again, we thought about the kids and reworked our plan: the HOUSE was no longer the adventure we’d promised them, instead it would be whatever activities we could enjoy OUTSIDE of the house. So, we went to Leesburg Animal Park, the Crystal Grottoes Caverns, and walked the historic streets of Harper’s Ferry. We stayed two nights. It was an expensive lesson we will not repeat (and if we could post our pictures, we would).

Do not book this property
When booking this property I was so excited for its uniqueness alone. This turned out to literally be the worst booking I think I’ve ever had, included some sketchy motel stays, I think this one was worse. We had to clean the entire property ourselves. There was loose food in the closets, mouse poop in the cabinets, dirty/moldy dishes in the cabinets, mold in the shower AND the linens for the bed were NOT clean. In addition when addressing the lack of cleanliness alone to the property manager, we were directed to the sketchy/nasty, cobweb filled, random liquid leaking, laundry room to find “CLEAN” linens…??????????? Furthermore, most of the chairs are not stable. The steps leading to the basement should have been pictured, even though nobody stayed down there due to the dirty bed clothes, it was not a safe staircase for most of the family staying. The spiral staircase has loose railings, and a legitimate blood stain next to a missing support beam. There was dried vomit on the front patio and myself and my family ended up raking and sweeping the outside.. after already cleaning the entire inside, just so that the patio was functional. This place was not just showing signs of missed cleanings but COMPLETE lack of maintenance and care for the house itself and the guests PAYING to stay. It is a cute house with amazing potential, but I could not recommend this place to even an enemy. INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTING. Reading further reviews, I am not the first to complain of cleanliness or lack of maintenance.. if this property manager had ANY consideration for its PAYING guests it would at least be safe and sanitary. Do not stay here.

Lindsay I did everything I could to make your stay as good as I could once I found out about the issues you had with the house. Please note people who stayed both before and after you gave the place five stars and didn’t have any issues with the place. Next time if you find a house doesn’t meet your standards please don’t check in - ask for a full refund and most hosts would prefer that outcome to a really unfair review that impacts their property for months to come or more. Billy

Dome was relaxing and cozy
Had a lot of fun hanging out in the dome. Listing was very accurate and instructions for check in/use were very clear. Host was responsive to messages. All in all a great stay!

So much potential
Cons: I loved the quirkiness of the dome, but this venue needs maintenance and repairs. While the dome can sleep six comfortably, there are table accommodations for only four. In order to seat six, we had to bring in two chairs from the deck (which we returned). We also bought a folding table to allow all six of us to be seated at the same table. Two of the indoor chairs were so wobbly and rickety that we felt we truly used them at our own risk. A number of the balusters for the spiral staircase were noticeably loose. Some were missing. I spent some time tightening doorknobs and balusters before our guests arrived. A number of lights were out. I know they're hard to change with those high ceilings, but they need to be changed. I know it's fall, but it would have been nice to have had the deck blown off before we arrived. My wife noticed other reviews that mentioned a need for cleaning, so we hustled to arrive before our friends and family so we could clean if needed. I used a push broom to plow the leaves and detritus to the back of the dome. Because of the huge number of leaves (again, this is fall), we were unable to use the fire pit. While most areas were fairly clean, the house had a "lived in" and run down look, rather than a well-maintained appearance. Neither pro nor con: The beds are all super soft. If you need more support, consider this. Pros: Billy was very easy to communicate with. We had only one check in issue which he immediately resolved. The books and games in the home were intriguing. And a geodesic dome in the middle of the WV woods is an exciting concept. The kitchen was well-equipped. Check in instructions and house rules were clear and easy to follow. Checkout was simple and painless. We really wanted to love this place. With care and attention, it could be a five-star accommodation. At its price point, we expected more.

Exploring Harpers Ferry
This is a fantastic location just outside of Harpers Ferry. I booked this for a bachelor party with 8 people and It suited our group perfectly. There’s plenty of space for separate vehicles to park which was a huge plus for our group. Any vehicle would be able to traverse into the property. After a hike in Harpers Ferry and a visit to the Shenandoah River the dome was a great place to come back to relax at. The outdoor deck is an ideal hangout spot and so is the lower portion of the property where the fire pit is. We’d come back here for certain.

Was just not for us
Overall had the feel of a party house....but other than that....Steps to basement (ladder) not navigable for 3 of the 6 in our party. Had to replan sleeping arrangements which had my MIL in main floor bedroom, son and DIL upstairs, husband and I sleeping on pullout which had disgusting stains on it and sagged towards the middle, and teenage son downstairs. Beds not very comfortable...none of us slept well...Most furnishes have seen better days. Had to run dishwasher after every meal due to lack of quantity of plates, and we were only a group of 6. Did not realize how deep in the woods the place was...In other words, just was not the right place for us. Commend host if this us a work in progress, but if not then suggest more TLC and furnishings that have less wear and tear are needed to improve this property. If you advertise sleeping for many, then should have basic dining ware for that many.

Cool house, but could use a little TLC
This was a really interesting house. It was mostly positive, but things to note were several lights out, couldn’t find the basement remote, etc. It could also use a good cleaning. Also, a note for anyone with physical limitations, the stairs to the basement were really tough to navigate - almost like a ladder. Overall we had a nice time, though!

Beautifully unique
Our family stayed the weekend for a wedding in Pucellville Va. We loved seeing deer, the uniqueness of the house, and the ping pong table. The house had lots of basics with kitchen items and even spices and such. We were pleasantly surprised with Harper’s Ferry. What a cool town with so much to see and learn. We spent both Saturday and Sunday exploring this gem of a town. The house could use a deep clean. I can imagine it’s hard to get in all the high spaces but it looks like it hasn’t been dusted in some time. The beds were comfy and it was great having 3 full bathrooms,

Nice Escape
We were looking for a last minute escape near Harpers Ferry and the Dome did nicely for us. Billy was very communicative as needed. The dome structure of the house def made the stay a bit more interesting. It was a little off the beaten path but had nice forest around it. The place could use a little upgrade on some of the furniture etc and is by no means a 5 star hotel or anything but did the trick for our group, especiallyince our dog was welcome.

Fun house, about 15 min from Harper's ferry, and 15 min from a grocery store. So convenient location. It was pretty clean, tv doesn't have regular cable. I would definitely recommend.

Unique getaway.
This is a unique little getaway spot. It was for my husband’s birthday. He loved the setting and how remote it was. We loved the layout and plenty of room for us. My only complaint would be the beds were not very comfortable. An upgrade to the mattress would make this home the perfect getaway spot.

Dirty but spacious
Creepy pictures of distressed children on the walls. Scared everyone. Had some electrical issues. Very dirty. 4 adults spent most of Friday eve cleaning and disinfecting before the toddlers could be let go… and the stairs were not friendly for sober children or drunk adults. Out in middle of nowhere. We were looking for large place for entire family to be together so it did meet that criteria. Well stocked with stove, oven, utensils, ,pots etc. but had to wash everything before using. Needs a professional cleaning.

Take Me Home Country Dome! - Dometastic! - Dome is where the heart is!
This was a great rental property. A little out of the way, but very cozy and private. The host was easy to get ahold of when we had questions. Our only note would be that this house is not super small-child or pet friendly given the stairs situation. This property has a spiral staircase, as well as a very steep and a janky/precarious/atypical/creative set of stairs down to the downstairs bedroom. Some of the outlets and lights didn't work. It was super well supplied and had communal cupboards which was a nice touch. Overall, we had a fantastic stay at the dome and nearby Harpers Ferry!

Had fun but the place was very dirty.
If you book this place, bring cleaning supplies and bedding. The cobwebs and dust were nasty!!! The blankets smelled terrible, we had nothing to cover up with. We still had fun but I would not book this place again. Also, the lower level was really hard for my 70 year old father to access. You basically have to climb up and down a ladder. (Not good for kids or older adults) The other thing that was gross was all the 1/2 used items in the cabin. Food in the fridge....toiletries..etc... yuck! For the price, they could afford to to spring for a good cleaning company and some new bedding/blankets!

Pandemic Remedy
First, a nod to the owner for prompt, friendly responses for my multiple questions! I wanted to be sure to be prepared so I did not have to leave the property for any store runs to ensure COVID safety. After months of being home bound in the suburbs, a long weekend in the woods in WV was dreamy! The dome exceeded my expectations! There are neighbors but they were out of sight except the neighbor that we saw when we took a walk - she welcomed us and let us know her dogs are friendly (and fenced)! The beds were very comfortable! The wood burner added an extra touch of coziness. The kitchen was well equipped which is usually a challenge when I rent a house! I cooked extensively and found everything I needed. We never turned on the TV but I can attest that the light up Cheers stained glass window works and that was all that mattered! All in all, it was an excellent place to make fondue (seemed dome appropriate), drink copious amounts of wine (multiple Corkscrews available), listen to the new Taylor Swift album, and aimlessly explore rural WV! Bonus points for eclectic coffee table book collection! Can’t wait to return when we can visit Harper’s Ferry and nearby wineries!

Kids Loved It!
What we loved: floor plan, kitchen was well-equipped, décor, comfortable beds and couches, deck, plants, interesting books, tv’s and access to streaming services. Not so great: the upstairs shower began dripping after we flushed a toilet and didn’t stop. We also killed two cockroaches. The basement lights in the main room didn’t work. Other details: I think with a little more work, this would be a great place for a family getaway, like a family Thanksgiving or Christmas in the mountains. Just be advised: this place is OUT THERE! if you’re wanting seclusion, you got it! If you want to pop in and out of Harper’s Ferry, this may not be the best option. I also wouldn’t recommend it for kids under 6 due to large gaps between the bars in the spiral staircase and the entry to the basement being a hole in the floor. Overall, my kids thought it was the coolest place ever and it was a great place for our family to crash after some hiking and sight-seeing.

Dome da-dome dome DOME!
This was such a cool experience for us. We live near D.C., and during the pandemic, we just wanted to drive somewhere nearby where we could get away from it all and have something like a vacation for a couple of days. This definitely did the trick. The dome house is so unique! The location in the woods was nice but still in delivery distance to great pizza and restaurants. And it's so close to Harper's Ferry, where you can hike to beautiful peaks or walk around the adorable town. We highly recommend the dome house!

We had fun but there were some pest and furniture issues
Main complaints: We saw two mice and heard many more from the upstairs bedroom. Their chewing and scurrying kept woke us up at night and when we’d flip the light on, mice would scurry away. Luckily neither of us is scared of mice but it surprised us, that’s for sure. Neither couch in the living room is up to par. One dips down significantly in the middle and is quite old. The other is a futon with a metal mesh base, which is sagging. We played board games for several hours and could not get comfortable. I ended up sitting on the floor, which was somehow more comfortable. Lastly, there is a clicking in the basement that prevented people from falling asleep or staying asleep. We aren’t sure what it was.

There's no place like the dome!
No complaints, just praise! This was such a perfect place for our group get-away. Billy was the ideal host too, well-prepared and so communicative. If you're going to Harpers Ferry with a big group, this is the place for you!

Not what you think.
The area was very nice and convenient to wineries. We were very upset of the inside of house. The refrigerator in pic is not the same as when we got there. It was white one that did not close properly. The inside of microwave was filthy. The couches that are in pic in basement were moved upstairs the floral one was so filthy we couldn’t even sit in it. Had a whole in am. The bathroom in basement - pic shown is at angle so you can’t see that it’s not finished. The master bedroom - tub smelled like there was a dead mouse in drain, sink area was not finished, and vent had about 1/4 inch dust ion it. Sleeping arrangements - some where just some type of mattresses in a closet, fouton, we couldn’t figure out where so many people would sleep. Toilet in bathroom next to kitchen is crooked. We would never stay there again. Stuff in the house was things from yard/garage sale. House needs a lot of TLC. Would never go there again!!!!

A little gem in the woods.
This was home base for a week and we loved it. Great location for a rural home base and still within an easy drive to grocery store, Antietam, Harper's Ferry, and the Appalachian Trial. The kitchen is well laid out for a good work triangle. Lots of bedroom space to choose from, three baths...a very open layout that we enjoyed. The geodesic dome was GREAT for acoustics... we listened to music via iPad while cooking, playing a few board games, and chilling between hikes--it didn't sound like little speakers at all! We also loved the fact that Billy was amenable to pets, it allowed us to travel with our dog! We would definitely stay here again, given the opportunity.

Great House, Does NOT sleep 14.
The house is nice. Upstairs is a nice place to sleep. Downstairs has a great ping pong table, bed, and futon. Kitchen is adequate. However, they count the futons as two sleeping places. They counted this two person couch as a place to sleep, which it is not, they counted the pullout couch as a place for two people, and a couch lounging chair as a place to sleep. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but we had 12 people and we were not able to sleep comfortably. Really only sleeps 9-10 comfortably. Not as secluded as you think, but we never saw any neighbors, just their houses.

Dirt roads to get to house. Smelled of stale smoke inside. Killed 2 cockroaches in the less than 24 hours we stayed. Dirty bathroom rugs. Small yard.

Hidden gem in beautiful Shenandoah valley!
We were all happy with modern conveniences in a wooded environment! The "dome" is quite unusual in itself and a short drive to hike the apalacian trail and visit historic Harpers Ferry! GPS got us right to the door!! Could be a bird lovers paradise!!
