Ga weg, ontspan en kom tot rust

Dit gezellige huis is gelegen in het kleine stadje Grottoes, Virginia genesteld tussen de schaduw van een oude eik, esdoorn en pijnbomen. Het zit op ongeveer drie hectare groot met achter de woning een groot veld waar kinderen kunnen rennen en spelen. In de lente en zomer heeft u de mogelijkheid om te genieten van de rozentuin in de achtertuin. Mijn vader stierf in maart 2017 en liet de oude thuisplaats achter. Hij bracht vele uren door in zijn rozentuin en vond het leuk om hem af te leveren aan zijn vrouw in het verpleeghuis. Sinds zijn overlijden heb ik dit prachtige oude huis op Dogwood Ave volledig gerenoveerd en ben ik ook begonnen met het leren van de kunst van het kweken van rozen. Mijn vader hield ervan om anderen te helpen en hield van mensen en ik draag de traditie van het helpen van anderen door een locatie aan te bieden waar mensen kunnen wegkomen, ontspannen en tot rust kunnen komen. Er zijn twee mooie slaapkamers; een met twee antieke koperen bedden. Er is een speciale ruimte ter nagedachtenis aan mijn vader, die een fervent jager en visser was. Daarnaast zijn er spellen voor alle leeftijden en veel boeken en memorabilia om van te genieten. De keuken heeft een moderne maar retro uitstraling. Er is een oude rode Formica-tafel met plaats voor vier. U kunt ook zitten en genieten van de tv met groot scherm terwijl u aan de bar in de keuken zit. Er is een koffiestation volledig ingericht met koffie en thee om uit te kiezen.

This was our last leg of our family road trip. Only stayed for 2 nights. But the house felt just like home all the amenities that we were looking for to just relax after long drive. And the owner even left some amazing extras which made it easy for us since we didn’t have to go to the store. We were able to enjoy caverns and a trail all within a 10 mins drive.

We had the pleasure of staying at this lovely rental home in Grottoes, Virginia for our daughter’s graduation from JMU, and it was absolutely perfect. The home is beautifully decorated with thoughtful touches throughout, and the furniture is so comfortable—it immediately felt like a peaceful retreat.Its location was ideal: close enough to Harrisonburg that we could easily get back and forth for graduation events, but far enough away that we completely avoided the traffic and chaos that comes with a big university celebration weekend. It was the best of both worlds.Everything in the home was spotless, and all the little amenities made our stay especially comfortable. One of my favorite moments was walking the property with my stepmother, admiring the lovely landscaping and the variety of plants around the yard—it’s clearly cared for with love and attention to detail.The surrounding area is so quiet and serene, and we hadn’t realized how close it was to Grand Caverns—what a hidden gem! We’re already hoping to return and spend more time exploring all this area has to offer.Communication with the owner was outstanding—clear, prompt, and polite throughout the entire process. It made the entire experience even more enjoyable.Highly recommend!

We needed some extra space while visiting our family in Grottoes. Our was extremely enjoyable and exceeded our expectations in every way possible. In addition to a beautiful home, Karen went out of her way to ensure we were comfortable and well taken care of. Looking forward to returning in the near future.

A quick twenty minute escape from the hustle and bustle of JMU Family Weekend. The house was clean, easy to access, and very comfortable. The host even went out of her way to contact us before arrival to help us avoid flooding since we were driving through the remainder of a hurricane.

Karen’s home was immaculate & welcoming - no complaints at all!! Great bucolic location near parks & farmland yet only about 20 minutes to Harrisonburg. We especially loved the mid-century American styling motif - retro-look but fully modern kitchen & some neat pieces in the living room. Would definitely book another stay!

Stayed here over the weekend with my wife, sister, and brother-in-law to go to Massanutten. Location was perfect! Very quiet area. Not far from Harrisonburg where we went out one night. We also enjoyed the sidewalk access where we were able to walk down to a local bar and 7-Eleven another night. Owner is very accommodating. Aside from having fresh towels for all of us, she also had some eggs and biscuits in the fridge for us to prepare for breakfast both mornings we stayed. Bedrooms, bathrooms, living room, and kitchen were all very clean. The whole house is cozy. We will definitely consider staying here again!

House has plenty of welcoming touches, like plenty of towels and outlet covers, plus some toys for kids. The bed was comfortable, water pressure in the shower was great, and it was super easy to check in and out. For families with older kids, this is a fantastic option. For the toddler families, there are a few things that would not have survived the attention of my particular 1 year old. (Not a criticism of the house, at all, just info that I like to see in other reviews so I can decide if I am willing to properly supervise my kid in that location based on the trip we are planning.) I'd happily stay here again with my kid and my only regret is that it is no dogs allowed so we can't stay here when the dog does come with us!
