Family Event
Our son was graduating from Coast Guard Training School. We brought the entire family for the weekend event. The property accommodated everyone as was perfect location- close to Elizabeth City and even took a day trip to the outer banks. Communication with the owner was excellent. We would recommend and stay here again.

Due to Tropical Storm Ophelia, my family and I were unable to get to the property. Four family members had to turn around near Delaware due to the storm conditions. I’m sure i would give a great review if we had been able to stay there.

Bad timing
House was clean with plenty of room. Screened in porch a plus since junebugs plentiful at night. Unfortunately there was construction on the sea wall and dock most of our stay, that still wasn’t finished when we left. Needless to say we did not enjoy being on the water and the dock as much as we had hoped. The owner was unaware that this would occur while we were there and was very accommodating.

A summer break
Everything the owner said or had control over was done great. However because of the grass in the sound, the fishing was very slow on the dock and it was not the best to swim off of. That may have been when we went or just mother nature. The AC down stairs did go out one night, we got back around 8pm, it was working that morning when we left. He had someone out the next day who fixes it, was very responsive to messages. Again not something he had control over, sure he would have rather it not go out too.

Perfect for relaxing
We stayed here for Thanksgiving, and really enjoyed it. There were some issues with checking in/arrival, but they were not Anthony's fault and he worked hard to make it right. The location is kind of remote, but perfect for relaxing. We loved sitting on the back porch and the dock. We would definitely rent this house again.

Very peaceful
This is a very comfortable home with a nice dock and great views. Having a kayak to use was a plus. Enjoyed floating on the Sound which is very shallow even far out from the shore. A little updating (lighting, ceiling fan, faucets, cookware, replace broken couch, etc) and it would be even better but we would stay again. The home was very clean, very cozy, and easy to live in. Thank you for sharing your house with us on our first trip to the Sound.

Over all stay
Communication with VRBO was not very good they did not provide us with the key code to get into the property before arriving. I called the owner of the property and he was very apologetic and I received the key code to get in and the house is beautiful with a great view it was clean and smelled clean. The only two minor things that need attention is the first floor bathroom between the two bedrooms the drain in the shower don’t drain very well so your standing in ankle high water while showering and the one first floor bedroom that has the ceiling fan you can’t pull the pull chain to shut off the light so you can keep the fan going but other than those two very small things the place was great and we will definitely want to book it again in the future

Quiet, meditative, recovery
Our group stayed at this location during the Cycle NC Coastal Ride 3 day cycling event. It was a great place to rest, relax, recover and socialize after 60 - 100 miles of cycling each day. VERY quiet and peaceful. Will try and book this again NC coastal cycling event.

Very Relaxing Beautiful Home!
We stayed in this home for one night in June on our way to the beach. The lake was absolutely beautiful and relaxing!! The house was a perfect size and the screened in porch was very nice for our morning coffee! Check in was a breeze and the owner was very nice! Thank you for the wine and candle! I give this property 5 Stars! The only suggestion I have is it get some outside furniture on the back deck so you could enjoy the lake more!

Allbemarle sound vacation destination
Fantastic property! Appliances were great, plenty of space for ten people, location was beautiful, and the host took great care of us. Elizabeth city, VA beach, and OBX are all under 2 hours away and worth the drive from this house. Go for a swim while your here if the water isn’t too choppy.

Weekend Getaway!!
The stay at Sunrise Over the Sound was relaxing and an enjoyable stay. We had a smooth check-in, had no issues with communicating with the owner, and he was very responsive. All guests with the group recommend the property for a stay. We did not have a boat with us, but there is even a launch you could use if you do bring one.

Cozy and quiet getaway waterfront
A great place to get away from the noise and recharge your mind, body and soul. The sunrise and sunset views are amazing. I enjoyed being on the dock and experiencing the relaxation view and sounds of the water. The property manager is very responsive.

Property is off the beaten path. Very clean, quite and spacious. Modern appliances, beautiful views of the bay from 3 of the 4 bedrooms. Neighbors are friendly.
