Cozy and nice
The house is cozy, warm and nice. Very comfortable for the two of us. We stayed in the downstairs bedroom closest to the hot tub which made our weekend. Check-in couldn't be any easier. If I had to pick on something, it would be the tight parking for a full size truck. I would stay again the next time we visit Highlands.

Excellent last minute get-away!
Excellent stay! My girlfriend and I took a last minute trip to Highlands NC for her birthday and was glad to see this location was available. Easy to get to and only about a 5 minute drive to downtown Highlands. Very clean and alot of deck space where you can hear the waterfalls of a nearby creek. House is well furnished. We didn't know what to do with the dirty towels, so we placed them in the washer; hope that was ok. There are five or so other houses in this small community, but all have their own privacy. We were the only ones staying the weekend we were there. Loved the house. An excellent choice if you're looking for something close to the Highlands without being right in the middle of it all.

The location is great.
This was my 3rd stay at this property. I really love the house and location. It could use some minor things updated,Carpet is past it's prime. Shower curtains could use an upgrade. Ceiling fan in the living space has no chain to turn the speed down or off. The washer and dryer are nice, the lint screens on both dryers are in need of replacement. I am interested in staying again next year. Hopefully these things can be addressed. It is such a peaceful place.

Cozy house and great location
Well kept house! Great location. Not in town but close enough. We were in Highlands for a wedding at a venue nearby. Hot tub was a plus! Enjoyed relaxing in it daily. Hope to visit again.

Great for a relaxing long weekend
We booked this property as a last-minute trip for a long weekend. It was clean and comfortable, and the location was great - just a short drive into town. However, the listing should make it clear that it is in a "cluster" of 6 cottages so that if you are really looking privacy, this might not be for you. For our purposes, this was not an issue because only a few of the cottages were occupied but just keep it in mind. Otherwise, I'd highly recommend.

Great location by a roaring stream
This location is smack dab in the middle of everything that Highlands and Cashiers has to offer. The host, Garrard, was quick to respond to me and very helpful. Highly recommend this location for a mountain get a way.

Wonderful Mountain Getaway!
My husband and I had an amazing time staying at this home! It had everything we needed, the home was very clean, and the hot tub was a huge plus! Our dogs really enjoyed hanging out on the deck and the background sound of rushing water was so soothing. Thank you so much!

Great Mountain Getaway!
I rented this property for family visiting us in Highlands and they really enjoyed their stay! The home along with adjacent properties are well-cared for and clean. The inside was also clean and provided ample space for an adult and four kids/teenagers. Kitchen was well stocked. The back porch and hottub are the jewel of the property! Beautiful and secluded views of the woods and you can hear a stream in the distance. I would highly recommend this listing to family and friends and we'll be back!

Wonderful stay!
The cabin was perfect for me and my dog! We both had a fantastic time in the mountains. The cabin was very clean and we loved the deck with peaceful sounds of running water. We can't wait to come back!

Nice amenities and location extremely convenient to town and to nearby hiking adventures. Parking is tight for large vehicles (mini-van) but definitely not a deal breaker. We enjoyed and would return.

Great for a Weekend Trip
Property was great for a quick weekend getaway to Highlands. Everything was as advertised- place was clean, plenty of linens provided, kitchen well stocked, and our kids loved the hot tub. The only issue we had was the fireplace did not seem to vent well into the chimney. After building a fire the first night there, the home was filled with smoke and we had to open doors to get the smoke out. Needless to say, we put out the fire and did not have another one during our stay which was disappointing. The place was great except for the fireplace venting incorrectly.

So sorry you had an issue with the fireplace. The flu must not have been fully open? This is the first time anyone has had a problem with the fireplace. The fireplace and hot tub coupled with my location are why people rent this cottage and why I have so many repeat guests. I wish you had contacted me about this issue. I might could have helped.

Christmas get away
Location is super cute and absolutely incredible with relation to downtown Highlands- great bars, restaurants and many of hiking trails close by. The cabin was super cozy for a freezing (literally) weekend, the fireplace and hot tub were great additions. However, upon communication with the host on Thursday evening we were asked to leave the facut dripping due to freezing weather and we did that. The next afternoon we were trying to do dishes when suddenly the water went out and never came back on for the remainder of the trip (2 days). We tried to call the host twice and message on VRBO to notify of this and if there was anything we could do to better help the situation in which we never got a response.

I never received a call from my guest concerning the water. I carry my cell phone 24/7 as I have elderly parents. I responded to the email I received immediately and sent my maintenance man over that same day.

Great location but could use some work
This property was in a great location. Super close to the downtown Highlands area. However, we were disappointed to find the inside of the house in need of some work. There were lightbulbs that not only needed replacing, but were broken off in the socket and hanging out, one part of the counter in the kitchen had the laminate peeling off, cracked tile in several spots, the upstairs had sticky bathroom floors and most concerning, the smoke detector had been removed from the wall and was no where to be found. Also, there was extra furniture in the main living space that was not in the online pictures, which was fine, but did make it pretty tight in the space and a little difficult to navigate. I did email the owner who told me he had hired a new management company and would clearly need to have them tighten things up. I would agree.

Place was very clean and in good order upon arrival. Loved the layout and feel of the home. Overall great! We were hoping to find some games or a deck of cards in the home and came up empty. That was the only thing that wasn't perfect.

Great place - just as advertised!
We enjoyed High Cotton for a long weekend. The place was great. You could hear the rushing water from the nearby creek as you sat on the deck. The hot tub was a great treat after walking around during the day. We plan to go back during the warmer months to take advantage of the grill on the deck.

Far Exceeds Expectations
The hot tub and fireplace were a must for us. We did not know how good it would be. Plenty of wood just outside a door from the fireplace. The deck leading to the hot tub was A++. Great view of the woods with the running creek. Very private. Every detail about the place was great. The tight ingress/egress/parking was fine, even for the Chevy Suburban. Proximity to Highlands was fine, and Oak Steakhouse and On The Veranda were direct access. Overall an A+ rating.

Much needed visit
My best friend from college and her husband met us for a 'birthday' weekend. We loved the cottage. It was cozy- just perfect for the 4 of us. The hot tub was wonderful - especially after hiking to see waterfalls. With one bedroom upstairs and one down, we had our privacy and didn't listen to each other snore. The other houses on the road are close, but it was cold so we were not on the deck much. However, we did venture out some to hear the creek below. Definitely close to downtown...just a few minutes by car . Hint- get reservations!

We enjoyed a wonderful, peaceful week between Christmas and New Years. Love the area which is nearby to a lot of nice hiking. The house was as advertised. Easy check-in and check-out. We especially enjoyed the gas starter with the fireplace. Would recommend restocking the firewood as we used what little was there the first night. Overall, another great experience in Highlands!
