Girls Week
Six friends came up and stayed at the Sugar Shack Log Home. Beautiful house in a beautiful wooded private community; 5-10 minute walk to Lake Goshorn. This house has everything you need and more to have a great getaway! Todd, the owner, is super nice and responds quickly to any questions you may have. Don’t hesitate to rent this one for your next getaway!

Great Cabin!
My husband and I took our two girls 7 and 3 for a spring break get-a-way. The cabin is very clean and spacious and we had fun playing pool and using the hot tub. Lots of cute shops and restaurants close by in Saugatuck and lots of kids activities in Holland. Would highly recommend!

Perfection!
We stayed at the sugar shack for two nights in February for a quick weekend getaway. The cabin was deceivingly huge!!! So much space. We could have brought all 5 of our kids and been comfortable. Todd was great with communication and was extremely accommodating. I would recommend this property to anyone traveling to the Saugatuck area.

Hallmark Cabin
Beautiful cabin, quiet area and yet close to all the area attractions! We took family pictures at Oval beach and shopped downtown Saugatuck! Todd was an amazing Host and replied quickly to our questions! We will definitely be returning to create more family memories!

Great week
We stayed at the sugar shack the week of the Fourth of July. It was in a nice quiet community of log cabins with a short walk to lake goshorn a very quiet little lake with a communal dock and beach that was very nice. It also had good proximity to local beaches and my 5 year old would highly recommend the dune rides at the end of the street.

Had a great stay at the Sugar Shack! Everything was perfect and cozy, a great place to unwind in the woods next to a fire or in the hot tub. Played pool in the basement, grilled out multiple nights, fished in Lake Goshorn, swam in Michigan at Oval Beach, sampled restaurants and breweries around Saugatuck and Douglass. Dune buggy ride was a major highlight. Wildfire haze was present all week but we barely noticed in the woods. We'll definitely be back again

A weekend at the Sugar Shack
Our group thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Sugar Shack! Communication with Todd was great - any questions we had he answered within minutes. Check in was smooth and very easy. The house itself was exactly as described online. Everything was very clean and tidy prior to our arrival. We enjoyed using the hot tub, fire pit and game room downstairs. Overall, our weekend was a great little escape and we’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Saugatuck!

Sugar Shack was everything we thought it would be...cozy, with enough space for our family of 5 with teens. Todd was so easy to communicate with, the cottage is well stocked with everything you will need and the extras were great. Our family loved the downstairs area with a pool table, sectional and TV to watch movies. Plus plenty of board games. We had a wonderful weekend away!

Perfect get away close to Chicago!
We wanted a cabin in the woods and that’s what we got! The hot tub was amazing and used constantly, the fireplace made reading cozy, and the house is so welcoming! We hoped for snow, but did some amazing hikes to Lake Michigan in 50° weather instead! We will be back!!!

Nice Fall Getaway
Nice little Fall trip made all the nicer by staying in a pretty log cabin. Loved the real wood burning fireplace and hot tub. Also nice seating outside around a fire pit! Fall color and leaves falling off trees made a walk to the quaint little lake very lovely. Had fun playing pool downstairs on a cold evening . Nice and clean and I would recommend this cabin.

Great girlfriends weekend
The house and location were perfect. The walk downtown was safe and easy and there were some good food options even closer (the Pennyroyal was incredible, we ate there multiple times). Really the food in Saugatuck was a stand out (we also visited the Mermaid several times) and most of the restaurants had outdoor seating, which we appreciated. Todd, the host, was great too. He checked in on us before and during our stay to make sure we were happy. We were.

Sugar Shack Is the perfect Getaway
The ladies in my family had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend at the Sugar shack. What a charming log house that is tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable. It’s located within minutes of downtown Saugatuck. Todd is an awesome host who kept in constant communication with us. We will definitely return to this adorable home!

Great weekend getaway with the kids
We had a great stay here the weekend before Christmas with our three kids ages 8-13. It snowed the night we arrived, and the kids had a great time in the morning identifying animal tracks outside the cabin on the path to the lake. We had everything we needed and Todd was a perfect host with good communication. Would gladly stay here again. We have been visiting the Saugatuck area for the past 10+ years but this cabin and location is now one of our top favorites.

We found the place to be very nice. It was clean, roomy, very open and cozy. We enjoyed having the grill. There was a request to stock more fish in the lake :) Todd was excellent with communication. We enjoyed our stay.

Very relaxing setting with spacious accommodations. Close to many hiking trails and beach setting. There were 8 adults and one infant in our group and there was plenty of room for all. Located on a very quiet private road. Recommended!

Can’t beat the location, 5 minutes from downtown saugatuck and 20/25 minutes to Holland. Easy access to State Dunes, close location to many breweries and wineries. Loved the stay, and the location was very quiet and relaxing.

Great Cabin, Loved Goshorn Lake!
Todd was the absolute best owner we have ever rented from. He was super-responsive, and we even met him as we arrived because he was there doing a small repair. The cabin is lovely, but more important, it was very clean and in excellent condition. We would love to come back! We chose this cabin because it had access to the wonderful Goshorn Lake. Our whole family, ranging from a baby to young adults to grandparents, enjoyed the beach and clean, quiet waters. We loved it!!

Rustic yet upscale log cabin stay
We enjoyed our stay at the Sugar Shack. Kitchen had everything we needed, Goshorn Lake is a short walk away (bring a wagon to haul stuff), and Saugatuck Dune Ride and great ice cream are both within walking distance. We enjoyed the hot tub, fire pit and porches. They are as advertised. If you come for a week and don’t want to do almost daily laundry, bring bath towels from home. Only one set per bed provided. If we return to the area, we would rent kayaks from the local outfitters on Water St. If you have a young child like we did, note that noise travels in the cabin. During nap time, we literally had to whisper or go outside. Every footstep on the 2nd floor is clearly heard on the first. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would return if dogs were allowed.

Sugar Shack Cabin
Absolutely loved everything about this cabin and enjoyed using the hot tub. My son got married in Saugatuck and the cabin was located within a couple of miles to the venue. We would definitely reccomend staying at Todd's cabin. He was very helpful and answered all my questions. It's close to the expressway, the lake and even an ice cream place is close by! We would stay here again.

Needed to see a different 4 walls get away!
The Sugar Shack was a great get away for our family of 4. We were in need of a socially distanced get away during this pandemic, and the cabin did not disappoint. Hot tub was great, loved to watch movies in the basement theater, and made a cake! Lot’s of local take out options as well.

I took my wife and two small children for a long weekend in March for a getaway from Chicago. The Sugar Shack delivered in every way. There was enough things to do with our toddler in and around the property to keep him entertained. And at rhe end of the day, the adults got to relax in the hot tub and sit by the fire. Exactly what we needed. Hoping to be back again.

Great cabin to celebrate our Christmas, family of 8.
Nice cabin! We had all that was needed for cooking meals, since we ate most of our meals at the cabin, due to covid restrictions in Michigan. We all enjoyed the hot tub, fireplace and the downstairs game/movie room. There was plenty of space for our 3 families. We were given plenty of wood for the fireplace. Our sidewalk and porch were cleaned early from an overnight snowfall. We added an extra day without any problems. We were very happy we stayed at Sugar Shack.

Winter Escape
This cabin is so cozy! We really enjoyed our stay here and will return. I choose this cabin for the fireplace and hot tub and it didn’t disappoint. We came with my two toddlers and husband and there was more than enough space for us and the kids to play. The weather was mild enough to go hiking on the dune trails and climb to mount bald head. Lots of restaurants in the area doing take out and delivery. Nice location and within a 10 minute drive of everything we wanted to do. I would add more bath towels for a larger group and more dish towels regardless. And a potholder. Todd responded very quickly for some troubleshooting with the hot tub and gave us a great recommendation for pizza. Great stay 5/5

Perfect location but could use a few extras
Great location, cozy cabin and awesome hot tub. Communication and check in was perfect. Here is what we loved (for context, we traveled with 2 families: 4 adults and 4 kids ages 13, 8, 4, 1): -5 min drive to downtown Saugatuck; 10-15 to Holland -5 min to a variety of beaches and parks for family-friendly hikes/adventures -private beach and canoe for fishing or keeping little ones busy -hot tub / porch was loved by all -little yard for kids to run around in -two living rooms and the pool table downstairs - this was awesome for letting the older kids have some space Here’s what could be improved: -kitchen needs some extra items: there were no potholders and only a few dish towels; no rags for wiping countertops clean. For a cabin with four bedrooms, that’s not enough even with ability to do laundry -dishwear could be updated - need more normal size bowls (vs the crocks); sheet pan was very old + need more normal size coffee cups -stock bathrooms with more towels. It felt odd to only get one set per person - and they were not great quality (so for example, I used two - one for drying off and one for hair). This felt a little like camp -mattresses/beds were squeaky and a little uncomfortable at least in two of the rooms upstairs - might be time for an upgrade -vacuum barely suctioned and there was no broom (terrible with little kids!) -overall things were a little cramped for two families of four. It is a cute cabin and we overall enjoyed it (hence my 4 star review) but personally I would go for a bit more space next time. Again - this would maybe be different in warmer weather or with older kids who would be out and about more.

Perfect House For A Family Get Together
Beautiful home in a peaceful setting. Still close to the action. We were able to bike to downtown Saugatuck (just 2 miles) on a safe bike path and only a 3 minute drive to hiking in the gorgeous Saugatuck Dunes State Park. The house had everything we needed for entertainment, a hottub, fire pit, pool table and games. Beds were comfy and everything was very clean. Will stay heree again!

Wonderful Stay!
Todd has a beautiful, cozy, clean cabin that our family enjoyed immensely. The fishing and canoeing was so relaxing and firepit always rounded out the perfect day. Saugatuck was a charming little town with great food and shops.....and Lake Michigan! Just breathtaking. Highly recommend!!!!

FAMILY VACATION
The Sugar Shack was beautiful, the log cabin was up to date and very relaxing. The house gave us plenty of room to spread out, the front and back porches were a great addition for the house and the hot tub was a great bonus. Overall we had a great vacation but there is one thing that Todd could improve on, there was only one set of towels per person and only 3 dish towels and unfortunately the dryer broke the second day we were there so washing towels only happened by going to the laundry mat so just having extra towels in the house would have been a big help. Also, sound carries in this house bad so there is really no privacy. We also enjoyed the grilling outside and using the fire pit. We spent a great deal of time at the beach, the beach is small but don't worry it was great. The water is nice but the lake gets deep fast go just be careful. We enjoyed our stay at the Sugar Shack!
