The house is great. Tons of space and a great location on the lake. The house is a bit dated and could use some upgrades / updates, but was very comfortable and worked well for me and my friends. There was a lot of old and damaged stuff down at the dock, so a good clean-up could be in order in the off-season.

We have stayed at many rentals on the lake and even though this one is likely older than some others, it’s definitely the best. Clean and spacious home with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. Amazing entwining area upstairs. Great cove, great view, in one of the best spots of the lake. Just don’t book my week!

Great location, views, swimming & fishing. We had high hopes for Wind Family Estates, but the experience didn’t reflect the “elite luxury” promised at an elite luxury price. At a minimum we expected things to function, to be clean, and the descriptions to be accurate. The home lacked the care and organization we've seen in similar rentals—disorganized & dirty kitchen items, old clothing, trash, and even unsanitary items left in drawers. Some amenities were in disrepair, like leaking porches, ripped chairs and damaged paddle boards. It's too bad because Ashley very responsive and even ordered us a new crockpot. I think some of this is due guests not treating another person's property with respect But with more attention to detail and better property management, the property could truly live up to its potential. High-speed internet/WiFi (extenders needed downstairs). Basic towels/linens provided—bring extras; no hairdryers. Fitness gear: elliptical & bike in game room. Fully stocked kitchen—missing nonstick pan. 3 fridges (1 leaks, 1 trips fuse, 1 in game room), dishwasher (wheels pop off), 2 worn grills. Working well: microwave, toaster, stove, oven, mini-fridge, Keurig/10-cup maker, blender, ice maker in wetbar. Outdoor furniture worn. Canoe, kayak, life jackets, fishing gear. Worn paddle boards. Cornhole (warped). Indoor games: Skeeball pool foosball, ping pong (broken net), air hockey (broken), shuffleboard (no sand), Smart TVs (basement TV broken), cable. Toddler, hghchair

The location and house were great! We loved the set up of bedrooms and game room, the situation with having to drive 10 minutes away to throw away garbage was less than ideal, we had a pick up truck but if you didn’t it would have been a pretty disgusting endeavor. The dock is wood, splintered bare feet.

Best Views at Smith Mountain Lake

This is an extremely accommodating home with bathrooms in all the bedrooms and never ending space. There are actually 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. There is enough space for 22 people to sleep in beds. Not just the 12. Recommendation to future renters is to reach out to Ashley to make sure you can bring your large group! The best part are the knockout views of Smith Mountain in this perfect protected cove. Most places on the lake with this view are in choppy water from the boat traffic. You have a nice cove for swimming and relaxing views! Check this place out!

Getaway at the Lake

The space was perfect for 8 adults— with room to spare! We cooked all our meals and had what we needed. Enjoyed time both inside and out. Thank you!

Lake House

Great lake house with all the amenities one needs to be content at the lake. The location is great and convenient to Mitchel's point marina for boat rentals, ice, etc. The owner is especially respondent and helpful which is a game changer. We will stay here again for sure!

Large home that accommodated all!

We had a wonderful getaway with friends to Smith Mountain Lake in December. This is such a large home that accommodates a large group of adults nicely. Lots of living spaces and bathrooms. There definitely seemed to be some new finishes even though this is an older home. Everything seemed clean, tidy, and well kept which is ore important than new. Everything seemed as described on the online listing for booking. Ashley was great to work with and we enjoyed our Wind Vineyards wine she had left us! Neighborhood felt safe and quiet. We look forward to returning to this one!

The best of the best!

We had the most amazing time with our group of friends at the Wind Family Estate at Smith Mountain Lake!!! This place was the perfect spot for our getaway. Everyone had their own bedroom that was spacious and provided privacy. Everyone had their own bathroom. Looking around everyone felt like this was the most clean VRBO even though it’s so big! Kitchen and living room were open to each other so we had a great time cooking, drinking, playing music, and hanging out!! Kitchen was very clean and had everything we could have ever needed and probably more. Lots of refrigerator space through the house. The porch was also the next spot perfect for sitting around and enjoying the boats pass and views. We will definitely be back so hopefully you will have us!! Thanks for the wine!

Beautiful luxury Home in the mountains

First, we want to thank Ashley for her hospitality and helpfulness answering all of our questions and giving us recommendations of where to go locally. We were able to easily find the local Kroger and liquor store to stock up for the weekend. We loved the tall ceilings and large rooms which gave us plenty of space for so many in one space. Everything was impressively clean and tidy for us when we arrived. We did have to make the beds that we used when we arrived. Our favorite part was sitting in the deck soaking in the view across the water. Very peaceful cove with a nice view. Kitchen was fully stocked with multiple refrigerators around the house to use. The guys liked the ice maker for their drinks. We were just happy the kitchen was well stocked and everything easy to find. Decor is cute and lake like which made it nice socializing in the common areas. Multiple common areas for gathering for groups to separate as needed. I highly recommending checking out this home at Smith Mountain Lake!

Family trip

Pictures are not indicative of what the house looks like inside or out. There is brush grown up around waterside you cannot walk to water on the bank. There are several bathrooms with mold and in need of cleaning. The baseboards in the kitchen look like they have not been cleaned in a while. There was food and popcorn under the couch. The washer was full of mold and we had to clean before using. Hockey table not working, refrigerator in game room leaking water on the floor. Refrigerator in kitchen leaking water on the floor. Beds outdated with thin covers. Only one bedroom has TB. One refrigerator in kitchen not cooling properly. There were multiple lights out and windows broken, unable to open correctly. Propane grill leaks and is a fire hazard and not clean at all, unable to use. Overall place needs some updating and deep cleaning, including decks and outside. We let the owners know 2 weeks ago that we paid for luxury home as listed and felt we overpaid. NOone has tried to contact me or make things right.

Great Stay

We had a wonderful stay at Smith Mountain Lake in October! The views from this home are amazing esp of the mountain. The house is really spacious and everyone enjoyed their own rooms. Looks like some recently added carpet. We were pleased with the cleanliness. The family was happy to gather in such a nice space. Ashley was really helpful. We look forward to returning.

Beautiful large home on the lake!

Our family had an amazing stay at Smith Mountain Lake. This home is oversized with plenty of space for everyone in our family. The kids had plenty of space to play while the adults could gather. One of the cleaner lake homes I’ve stayed in. Loved the Mountain View’s and Porch to sit on. The dock had lots of space for everyone to use at the same time. Refreshing getaway with our large family.

Fun location and dock. Dirty and moldy

Loved the location and dock. The home itself was old, lots of mold. My kids with allergies really struggled my daughter woke up with swollen eyes from the mold. The bathroom’s had visible mold. Toilets and floor were visibly dirty. I wish those who took care of the home had a little more pride in the home. It could be very nice.

Good family rental

We really enjoyed the views from the property. The lake and the dock was great. The inside could need a little more love. There were a lot of things that were partially broken, carpet needs replaced, and many walls need painted. We had a large group, and we had a great time. Many positives about the place. FOr the price that we paid and for the listing as a luxury property, we were a little disappointed. But we had a good time.

Great Location!

We had a great visit to Smith Mountain Lake! The weather was fantastic for April and we spent a lot of time on the water with a boat rental. There were some inconveniences, like the beds not being made and the dishwasher needing to be empty upon leaving that were noticed. The house could use a good deep clean, we had plumbing issues (that were handled), some odd heat/air conditioning struggles, electrical challenges when breakers needed flipping, kayaks needed cleaning before use, etc.. Overall it felt like more work was needed to stay here than we were hoping for in a vacation rental. The pros included the location, space to comfortably fit everyone, well stocked kitchen tools, and spacious porches.
