I feel bad about the intrusion: there were no cars there, it was dark, and no one answered when I knocked and called "hello!" so I went in quickly, left a little treat in the kitchen, and disappeared immediately. I would never have entered had I known there were people there, and in the future, I will just leave treats tied around the door knobs. Since as a host I am only offered the question and answer responses and no place for written feedback, this does give me the chance to write about my impressions, . Our cottage was left very messy, with three pizza crusts left in one bed, lots of pizza boxes stacked up, cans and bottles left for me to gather, coffee maker left on (yes there is no auto-off), the refrigerator is full of food, and no garbage was taken out. I was texted to ask what check-out instructions are after they had left, so nothing could have been done about it. If the welcome packet had been read, they would have found out that we appreciate it if guests take the garbage out. In the future, I will post instructions inside to make it clearer. In their defense, they were staying in our place for Interlochen Academy graduation and they were very busy. They did leave our place clean; just really messy.
