Vacation with the Horses in our Ranch House! Right off Hwy 395

  • Our ranch sits at the base of the Sierra Nevadas right off of Hwy 395. You will enjoy the stars, and the views of the 4 different mountain ranges that surround the valley. Sunrises and sunsets are some of the most beautiful in the world. The ranch currently houses retired performance horses that can no longer compete but can do lessons for guests. You will enjoy each of their very different personalities! Jeep/hiking trails are just one mile west along the Sierra Nevadas. You will love the ease of access from our ranch.

Perfectly Rustic

A buddy and I stayed here during a hunting trip, and it was perfect for what we needed. The house was very clean and had plenty of room, especially since there was only the two of us. I made the reservations last minute and the owner was incredibly accommodating when I requested an early - a day early - check in. Overall, I would definitely stay here again.

This place exceeded our expectations by a long shot! House was roomy and set on a farm right in front of the beautiful sierra Nevadas, lovely horses all around the property that you can visit with and pet, a real gem! We’d love to stay again sometime soon :)

Great Location

Near great hiking and climbing. The ranch house is relaxed, clean and comfortable. Several in our party took horse riding lessons and had a great time. The people working with the horses were friendly. A really wonderful stay.

Lovely ranch

Lovely ranch. We star gazed one night and it was spectacular. We also walked around and took some pics of the horses which my kids really liked. One of the ranch hands offered to bring us some carrots to feed the horses which was really nice of her. We stayed here as we day tripped for a day at Death Valley and it worked out really well for us.

Desert Getaway

Our family rented this home on a functioning horse property as an alternative to camping in the Jawbone Canyon/Dove Springs off road riding area over thanksgiving week. It is just a 20 minute drive to the gate for day trips. We weren’t looking for glamorous accommodations but a place that could hold 3 families and had trailer parking for the off road vehicles and this worked perfectly. Owner is easy to work with and responsive . Would definitely return!

Not the Ritz But Perfect For What We're Looking For

We do an annual dirt bike trip to the area. The place we usually stay was already booked, so we booked here which turned out to be better. We had 11 guys ultimately. I had originally booked 6 but more guys piled on the trip at the last minute. I figured that'd be fine since the listing said it sleeps 13. What I didn't know was 6 of the beds are in a converted garage that was locked when we arrived. Leslie sent over a cleaning crew and prepped the room once we let her know. It all worked out fine. Had 1/2 cord of wood delivered and had some nice bon fires in the fire pit Beds were clean and comfortable, plenty of pots and pans, clean and working BBQ. We'll be back!

Not too good of a stay in Inyokern

With a party of two Dutch family's of four adults and four children between seven and fourteen years old we stayed at the ranch for two days. The house was not clean, a number of doors wouldn't close anymore. We were even afraid to cook our own meal because of the kitchen cleanness . The kids liked the horses though. The homeowner was mostly friendly. Only upside was the price, it was low and therefore we didn't have very high expectations.

This was a magical place! We brought my son and 2 friends, all 12 years old. All 3 boys LOVED our stay. Their review “I liked staying on the ranch and feeding the horses.” “It was really pretty being in the valley.” “I want to come back again.” We adults appreciated the cozy house. Leslie started a fire in the wood stove—so relaxing to watch it burn, plus it somehow heated up the whole house. The beds were comfortable and warm (though it was cold out at night!), the kitchen had all the essentials to cook dinner. Also, Leslie can arrange horse riding lessons if you’re interested. She’s lived here lifelong and is a wealth of knowledge about the area and its history, as well as about all things horse. We will be back again.

Great experoence

Staying at the ranch was a great experience for our family. Our granddaughter got to ride a gentle horse and feed the horses carrots. The place is simple but comfortable, and the AC units were able to keep up with the heat. Evenings outside were pleasant (mid-June) and the stars were plentiful. Not a bad drive from LA and on to visit the Mount Whitney area.

Stylish Cowboy themed getaway.

Behind a locked gate is a modest home with breathless views of the mountains and horses. Even the barn cat was friendly! Clean, cozy and perfect for what I needed. Safe, quiet and comfortable beds. I recommend this stay. Great price too!

Relaxing, and perfectly located retreat

The ranch was perfect as base camp for us to explore the region. Easy access to Death Valley, Alabama Hills, and Sequoia Parks. The ranch is well appointed and allowed us to rest and enjoy ourselves after days of adventuring. Convenient shopping for food and supplies in Ridgecrest. Fantastic experience for anyone looking to explore the region with a quiet and comfortable home base.

This property is unsafe and unsanitary for humans and animals. There was mold in the walls and cabinets, dust and spider webs everywhere and the blankets and sheets were dirty upon check in. FYI- There is a mandatory cleaning fee for this property added per reservation. The dishwasher was filled with dirty dishes and when i opened it, smelled as though it had been sitting for months and had rotting food in it. The coffee pot was filthy and full of grounds and calcium/mold and filth. The fire extuinguisher had a date of 2013. TV's didnt work. Stove, oven and kitchen were disgusting. Dishes were all old/mismatched and dirty. kitchen table was loose, bunk bed fell apart when my daughter went to lie in it. Heat barely worked. It was truly terrifying. If we didnt arrive late in the evening we would have never stayed. Owner tried to charge us for having additional guests (our children) once we complained in the AM. Also pet charges after we cancelled our reservation and checked out immediately in the AM- even though it was listed as Pet Friendly on Expedia and there was no area to add pets on the initial reservation. Beware when booking this property on Expedia -you will be routed to VRBO as this is a VRBO property. Wish I had been warned. I do not understand how this property is rated a 4.8. It should be condemned. It is a horse rescue- and should.not be operated as a VRBO rental.
