'We stopped in Puntarenas on our way back from the west coast to San Juan. Unless you are curious to see all of Costa Rica, there is not much at all in this area. It's a filthy, poor area with little to offer, even though it is so close to the beach. The hotel is kind of old and tired with an unclean looking pool. Food is mediocre at best. We had a suite in the newly build tower, supposedly with a view over the marina. No view unless you stand on the balcony. We asked for a different room but got...

'Our suite was amazing. We knew we found a gem as soon as we opened the door. The wall of the ocean side of our suite was entirely a glass wall with massive sliding doors which could open the room up to the patio and private pool (which is maybe about 80 degrees F and very well maintained). The view of the ocean and mountains is surreal. You’re more than likely guaranteed a sunset view, and the sun seems to set for a solid three hours. You can see it from every part of the suite. Even the shower....
