Let’s start with what went well. The 3 kayaks were great. The tables on the deck were awesome for eating meals. It was well stocked with paper products (tp and paper towel). The bed in the master was very comfortable.
Unfortunately, we had several issues with the place. To begin with, the location on the listing took us to an incorrect location. After 40 minutes of searching the area, we did finally find the house. I was panicked because we had a large group and none of us could find the house. The correct directions to the house are in a book INSIDE the house.
Next, we had no check-in information. Camille did return my call within a few minutes. Camille says she emailed me the information, but I had no email. There is also no check-in information on her listing. It’s in a book inside the house along with the correct directions to house.
When we did get into the house, it wasn’t very clean and there were no instructions for necessary housekeeping details. We found someone else’s dirty socks in one of the beds, coffee grounds and grime all over the bottom of the coffee maker, dirty appliances and cabinets, and the bathroom rugs were disgusting. There was mouse poop on the counter and ants all over. There were no instructions for trash other than the fee listed to be levied if we didn’t take it “out”. She left no information as to where the trash was to be taken or the fact that the dump was closed on Sundays and Mondays. That means we loaded the trash in our car and drove to the dump before our Monday check out only to discover the dump was closed. She said to only use their dock but didn’t tell us which dock was theirs. With 3 docks in front of the house, we didn’t know which one to use. Lastly, there were wet towels left in the washer which began to smell up the entire house. I found them on our last day when I started to wash the towels we had used for Camille.
It is listed for 11, but the upstairs is almost uninhabitable during the summer. It gets so hot during the day that it doesn’t cool off very well until late in the night. Also, the bunk beds are very unstable.
There are no details about anything on the listing. She says to bring your own wood for the fire pit, fill the propane if it is empty, and don’t use the towels outside in a book in the cabin, but all of those things should be told ahead of time so we could have come prepared.
The kitchen is ill equipped for the number of guests the house is listed to hold.
