You may wonder why I reviewed this condo as one star when I gave it high marks for cleanliness etc. We booked the condo for 2 months but did not stay here. The hot water heater was not turned on when we arrived, the property manager walked me thru the process to start it up. But we had dinner plans and no time to allow it to warm up, so had to take ice cold showers. The condo was extremely musty and felt like it had been closed for an extended period. The fabric felt damp due to humidity and closed conditions. A bucket of damp rid was trying to clear the air. It should have been better readied for our arrival. We set the AC on low hoping it would clear the humidity. Upon returning from dinner, we found a large, living cockroach about 3-4 inches long (called palmetto bugs in the south). It was in the bedroom near the bed and it was fast! Took a few minutes to get it. After about 45 minutes of discussion we decided we were not comfortable staying there. The musty conditions are conducive to cockroaches and we were uncomfortable that there would be more. We relocated to a hotel and then to friends’ house but ultimately cut our trip short. The property manager did refund us two weeks of rent and arranged to spray for bugs but said that bugs were a part of living in the south and did not warrant a total refund. Once home, we filed a claim for the remainder of rent through our bank card. Ultimately this is a nice unit with beautiful beach views. This review details our experience.
