Post en Beam Home op het eiland op West River - In de buurt van Stratton

Dit huis is zeer uniek en speciaal voor mij. Ik ben een bouwer van Martha's Vineyard en mijn hart, ziel en ervaring in deze een van een soort post en beam huis. Het ligt op een privé-eiland in de rivier Westen dat u toegang door te gaan over een overdekte brug. Er zijn slechts twee andere huizen op het eiland (het eiland is meer dan 100 acres). Het huis is 2800 vierkante voet en de slaapkamers variëren 200-250 vierkante voet. Elke kamer heeft speciale accenten naar de handgemaakte tegels in de keuken en badkamers en takken in de reling systemen. De kinderen stapelbed systeem is met de hand vervaardigd met boomstammen en takken en sport een loopbrug, valluik en touwladder. De enorme 30 voet hoge interieur open haard wordt gevormd na een Lew Franse ontwerp en de wenteltrap naar het hok moet worden gezien om gewaardeerd te worden. Ik zit uren luisteren naar de rivier de buitenkant als het is slechts 30 voet van het huis. Enkele dagen zetten we op onze sneeuwschoenen en het eiland verkennen. We hebben net een rond het eiland trail systeem dat pronkt met zijn schoonheid. Mijn meisjes dol op zoek naar sporen van dieren. We hebben herten en bevers op het eiland. Ik heb lynx sporen gezien, maar nog nooit een gezien.

Dit is niet echt een woning - dit is mijn droom huis. Het is 10 mijl van Stratton Mountain (ongeveer een 15-20 minuten rijden naar de berg), dat is een geweldig ski-en snowboardgebied in de winter en golfgemeenschap in de zomer. De huur van het huis wordt geleverd met een parkeerpas zodat u altijd direct aan de voet van de berg kunt parkeren. Stratton Mountain is een van de beste run bergen ik ooit geweest ben. Hun klantenservice is ongeëvenaard in Vermont - Ze geven en weefsels in de stoeltjesliften op de echt koude dagen. De mensen die werken bij de berg echt willen dat u een goede ski-ervaring hebben. Ze zijn niet alleen ponsen een klok. De skischool is eerste klas en mijn 6 jaar oude dochter kan nu al skiën vanaf de top van de berg en begeleidt me door een aantal van de eenvoudiger bospaden. Manchester is ongeveer 30 mijl afstand en is de thuisbasis van elke outlet winkel die je zou willen om te winkelen in .......... Ik zou kunnen blijven gaan. Had the absolute pleasure of staying at this home, which feels like a scene straight out of a Norman Rockwell painting. From the incredible craftsmanship of the house to the West River and trails just steps away, every detail was perfect. The modern amenities combined with its proximity to Stratton, Bromley, and Mt. Snow make it an unbeatable location. On top of that, the host was fantastic—I had the chance to meet him and learn some of the home’s history, which added even more charm to the experience. This property truly stands in a league of its own. I’ve rented dozens of ski homes, but this one is on a completely different level. Thank you for the privilege of staying here!

We traveled with our children and some good friends for an annual ski trip over the holiday weekend. It was an exceptional weekend in no small part to Rob’s home. Rob was very helpful in the lead up to the stay fielding any questions we had. The home is well appointed with high end furnishings and felt more like staying at a friend’s house rather than a VRBO rental. The layout was perfect for our group. Outside of the living room there was a loft for the kids to play or watch a movie. The location is outstanding - less than 15 minutes to Stratton while feeling tucked away in nature given the island location. It was an extraordinarily relaxing spot with fabulous views from the whole house of the river.

We can't say enough great things about this beautiful home! The house is lovely, cozy-comfortable with anything & everything we needed; even right sized play and practicality for the two-year-old. The property is amazing. We enjoyed walking the trails, listening to the river, & relaxing together. To top it off, the host was delightful.

This was a lovely place and perfect for 8 adults. Wasn’t designed for the baby but there were plenty of us to keep an eye on him. The house design and construction is impressive. Very open but feels very homey.

This is such a beautiful place in a beautiful location. We loved this place so much and the host was incredibly kind to work around our busy schedule. I hope I will be able to stay here again in the future because it was so relaxing. Everyone enjoyed the setting and the house. It is somewhat luxurious in a beautiful natural setting. They had everything in the kitchen you could possibly need and so many other books and useful items for your stay. It feels like a home while you are there, not just a rental.

Stayed here with my family during July 4 weekend and it was even better than the descriptions. The house is as well maintained, stocked and thoughtfully designed as described in the listing and the prior guests' comments. What you can't get from those sources is just how calming and rejuvenating it is to be right next to the river, with the sound of rushing water constantly lowering blood pressure and providing a great soundtrack to the natural beauty of the island and the surrounding woods. Kitchen is well stocked and you can get provisions from multiple locations but we tended to stay close by at West River Provisions. Rained a lot during our first few days but honestly didn't mind, as the house is cozy and very comfortable. Rob is a great host and very responsive. Would highly recommend

This property is truly remarkable. The setting is breath-taking and the home itself has everything you need. This is the perfect destination for large groups or families, as the bedroom sizes are very generous. I found the 2 story living room with stone fireplace and outdoor hot tub overlooking the river to be the two biggest "Wows!" of my experience. I hope to be back sometime in the early summer to enjoy the outdoor splendor of Vermont.

This house is absolutely beautiful, built by the owner, and well cared for. It had everything we needed and included a new hot tub which was a lovely surprise and beautiful as it overlooked the river and woods. The house is in an idyllic setting very close to Stratton and Bromley. The owner was very responsive and very helpful during our stay. Would absolutely rent this place again and plan to in the future!

By far the best vacation house we’ve ever stayed in. The owner, Rob, clearly put a huge amount of imagination and effort into designing and building the house and making it extremely comfortable and functional. He was also very responsive and easy to communicate with. The location is unsurpassed, offering total privacy (the other two houses on the island are far away) and beautiful views of the river, while also being within a few minutes of several small groceries and fun restaurants. We loved sitting in the great room and watching herons and even an eagle flying just above the river. One feature shows the care with which the house was designed. Rob pointed out in his virtual tour that the windows and doors that open have retractable insect screens. You can choose between opening the window and sliding the screen in place, or closing the window and having a completely unobstructed view. The house is very clean and extremely well furnished, with comfortable seating, an amazingly well-equipped kitchen, and lots of plush towels. Wifi was strong enough for several people to work at once, although we couldn’t get a Verizon cell signal. (We used wifi calling on our phones.) Two minor things to look out for: by late summer, there’s a lot of poison ivy growing on the walking trail around the island. And be careful if you use the oven: one time, a rack slipped off its support rails.

The home was special and met our space needs for three families with 5 kids. The loft gave the tween boys a space to watch TV and play video games, the bunk room was perfect for three girls of different ages, and the other bedrooms provided plenty of beds for everyone. River view is beautiful and was fun to wade in. Large table for everyone to sit at. Owner is super nice and responsive with any questions we had. Small 'provisions' store is nearby for things you might have forgotten and Stratton was maybe 15 minutes away. State park is close by and the island itself has nice trails for walking/biking. No complaints from our big group!

This is a beautiful home. Very well equipped and cared for. Excellent layout for 2 families -- plenty of room for all. Loved the heated floors in the mudroom with lots of storage for ski stuff. Location is so close to Stratton, it can't be beat!

This post and beam house is a piece of art. From the built-ins to the inlaid handmade tile accents everywhere, to the hand-crafted railings and kid's bunkbed - it's all beautiful. We felt instantly at home in this well decked-out living space. Did not feel like a rental. We hated leaving it each day but the outdoors beckoned. The river is right off the back deck and is a natural sound machine - quiet and soothing. We had fun making an outdoor fire, wading in the river, sleeping on the hammock, and taking numerous walks on the extensive trail system. It was incredible to be on such a private island with what seemed like miles of wilderness all around us. And the cute covered bridge is in many of the backdrops of our photos. We did leave the island a few times. Once to go to a nearby waterfall and once to take a 15-minute drive to Stratton where we did some shopping and had a great meal at Verde. Can't wait to come back here in the winter to do some skiing. Crazy that there are three ski mountains within 20 minutes of this beautiful oasis.

Stay here if you can! The home is beautifully built and decorated, and worked well for our group of 6 adults + 4 kids for a week in late summer. Generous sized deck and yard space (w/grill & fire pit), swing, hammock, river and hiking on the island allowed for lots of relaxing time at the house. Game/play area was appreciated by young & old alike. The owner is communicative, attentive and helpful. Kitchen is well stocked, which made cooking a breeze. A big grocery store is a bit of a drive, but hats off to the West River Provisions shop for stocking almost everything you'd want. Kids enjoyed: Bromley Aerial Park, Retreat Farm, riding the gondola up Stratton mountain, swimming in river and area waterfalls, and looking at *so* many stars thru a telescope (bring one! totally worth it). Great outdoor seating at Whetstone Craft Brewery in Brattleboro, and our new happy place is Northshire Bookstore in Manchester. Blink or you'll miss Bigfoot Coffee in Newfane. Awesome sandwiches at Workhorse Cafe. Thank you for the lovely stay!!

Our trip to Vermont was everything we had hoped it would be. The kids loved spending time wading in the river and exploring the many trails in the area. We all relished the quiet and relaxing outdoor amenities - especially our nightly gatherings around the fire pit. The home itself is absolutely beautiful and unique. We had two families with 10 people all together and the house very comfortably fit us all. The property is private and beautiful. I don't think the pictures did justice of how close and lovely the river is behind the house. We just sat outside for hours drinking coffee and listening to it before the teenagers finally woke up in the mornings...so peaceful. The kids trekked into the rocky river right off the house for fun. But to swim, we went down to the water hole and finally were able to visualize how big 100 acres really is! It was a hike with all our gear, but definitely worth it. We spent a whole day at the swimming hole. The other days, we drove 30 min to go to a lake and a quarry for jumping and swimming. The house is Rob's work of art and we all felt grateful that he is willing to share it. He was responsive to any questions or concerns. We all agreed the beds and linens are extremely comfortable and the showers had good water pressure. Lots of games around for fun. Tons of fireflies and a fire-pit made for enjoyable evenings outdoors. Our only constructive criticism would be for more outdoor furniture but it just made us assume the owners use it more often in the winter when sitting outside is less pleasant! We loved our stay.

So many great activities right on this island (hiking trails, swimming holes, river front), along with fun local sites to visit (Rob has a list of local waterfalls and attractions). Rob was great to deal with, provided everything we could have needed, and has a beautiful, clean home in a fantastic location.
