'Highly recommend The Retreat hotel! It was gorgeous and the views breath taking. The staff was very attentive and kind. Will definitely go again. The tours were over priced though. ~400 per tour and while the locations were beautiful it was not worth that much money. Also note there is no food you can buy except for in the restaurants there. So grab some snack at the airport. But highly recommend this place. Even in the rainy season it was amazing '

'Hotel owners, both husband and wife and their staff were really helpful and friendly. Property is really well maintained with diverse flowering plants and villa room we stayed in is very spacious and clean. Even though it is still the wet season, temperature was really pleasant and A/C wasn’t needed to sleep well. Very peaceful environment and walking distance to town square. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a place to getaway and relax.'

'We stopped in Puntarenas on our way back from the west coast to San Juan. Unless you are curious to see all of Costa Rica, there is not much at all in this area. It's a filthy, poor area with little to offer, even though it is so close to the beach. The hotel is kind of old and tired with an unclean looking pool. Food is mediocre at best. We had a suite in the newly build tower, supposedly with a view over the marina. No view unless you stand on the balcony. We asked for a different room but got...

'Oh my gosh, this place is absolutely breathtaking! Sitting under the covered patio during the afternoon showers was so relaxing. We saw over 40 species of birds on the property. The property is situated so you can see all the macaws flying over the water to roost each night. We absolutely loved this spot!'

'AMAZINGLY customer service oriented. Bereníce, staff, SO attentive, kind & thorough. Prior to arrival, resort administrator engaged to make personalized arrangements. Wifi steady & stable. Jacuzzi a plus. For arrival, standard vehicle OK (albeit slow w potholes with some portions being unpaved roads), but 4x4 might be helpful. Highly recommend to get away from it all to chill. I travel a lot, and I would go back. '

'This was a beautiful unit a short drive from San Jose. The host offered us food and breakfast and messaged to check in if we were comfortable. We saw so many birds in the morning and evening. The pictures on the website don’t do justice to the amazing property. '
