Beautifully and lovingly cared for family home with amazing views of Meteora’s rock formations and monasteries. The host and his mother, who live upstairs, were very kind and friendly, serving us coffee and sweets the day that we arrived and a bowl of figs the second day after at the end a long day of hiking and climbing stairs to reach the monasteries. The village of Kastraki is a jewel! Kalabaka, not so much as is much busier and a frequent stop for tour buses.
The only thing that I would say, besides the coffee maker (not an issue if you know how to prepare Greek coffee), is that host keeps a dog that sometimes barks at inopportune times. Nevertheless, this is great base to explore this beautiful area.
