Historisch Volkmann-huis aan de Kankakee-rivier tegenover het eerste Prairie Style-huis van Frank Lloyd Wright, de B. Harley Bradley House. Deze eigenschap is ontwikkeld door Col. Haswell C. Clarke vóór 1900 als stal, maar werd omgebouwd tot een huis en uitgebreid gerenoveerd in 1919 door juwelier William H. Volkmann van Kankakee. Dit huis heeft zijn historische charme behouden, maar is uitgerust met moderne voorzieningen, comfortabele meubels, 550 thread count, 100% supima katoenen lakens, zachte 100% katoenen badhanddoeken, wasmachine / droger, vaatwasser, WiFi en kabel-tv. Met toegang tot de Kankakee-rivier, boottoegang bij nabijgelegen openbare bootlancering en gecentreerd op een drievoudige kavel en doodlopende straat, biedt deze accommodatie uitstekende privacy en een prachtig uitzicht op de rivier. Dit huis heeft drie slaapkamers, twee en 1/2 baden met grote slaapkamer en-suite, en houtgestookte open haard in de familiekamer, en geschikt voor 6 personen. Alle drie de slaapkamers hebben queensize bedden. Geniet van grillen op het dek en kijk hoe de zon ondergaat over de rivier. We gebruiken dit huis zelf voor rustige weekenduitstapjes.

From the first communication with Shari, I knew this would be a good visit. What I didn't realize was how magical the experience would be. Shari welcomed us to the house and gave us a bit of history. It was the perfect setting for celebrating the Christmas holidays with family: my son and daughter-in-law, their newborn son, my elderly in-laws, and my DIL's parents. Many happy memories were made in this historical house on the river. It was a visit we will never forget!

The hosts are spectacular as well as the house. Beds comfortable, so much kitchen ware, climate controlled perfect, close to my family and across the street from the house that inspired my career. We will be back as much as possible! Such a wonderful three days! Thank you so much!!

The pictures do not lie! This home has amazing historic charm and the river view was fabulous. We have stayed in quite a few short term rentals and this was by far the cleanest property we have experienced: no dust, dirt, or grime to be found anywhere. Shari, property owner, was so easy to communicate with and greeted us on arrival to give us instructions and answer questions. She has thought of every detail down to conveniently placed extension cords, makeup wipes, and a notebook full of history and recommended restaurants. We plan to make this a return visit!

We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful historic property along the Kankakee River. The kitchen is well stocked to cook and the backyard patio is perfect for grilling out. We have wonderful memories staying here during our trip! The kids loved playing in the backyard and we even saw some lightning bugs on our last night there. Thank you for sharing this beautiful house as a rental, we really enjoyed staying there.

The house was absolutely charming, not to mention gorgeous and historic. Really appreciated the info provided about the house itself as well as the Frank Lloyd Wright prairie home across the street. The location right on the river cannot be beat. My friends and I enjoyed our stay immensely!

We had a great 4 night stay. The house is so lovely as well as Sheri, the owner. The house was clean and every room was perfect! The beds were comfortable, the views of the river are magnificent and the patio is nice to sit at in the evening. We will be back!

We were visiting family in Kankakee in the summer and this house was perfect for our family of 6. We also hosted some extra family one evening and the backyard and back porch worked out great. The kids also loved walking to Jaenicke's for floats!

Wonderful place to entertain family and friends. Best sleep ever…was it the 500-thread sheets or the soothing train whistle in the night or gentle sound of the geese in the morning? Beautiful view of the river.

The home is lovely and in a historic district on a lovely river. We had a great time canoeing on the river. Kankakee is struggling. town. The historic district is narrow, a couple blocks. Then the town is struggling. Trains come through early in the morning and blow their horns. It is a My Cousin Vinny moment but less of a pain. I loved sitting on the deck and feeling to cool breezes blowing off the river. We all did.

Wow. This is a great place to stay. Very clean and well furnished. Felt very safe staying in this quite historic part of town. Beautiful grounds along the river. It was like staying in a museum. We will come back here again. Loved everything about our stay. Super nice owner met us and let us explore her home.

My son was graduating from college so our immediate family came to Kankakee to celebrate with him. The house was immaculate and one of the most beautiful settings I have ever experienced! The hosts thought of everything we might need and were immediately available to help when we had questions. This experience was fantastic all the way around!

This river front property was beautiful and comfortable. There was plenty of space for the kids to play and my husband and I to relax. We were in town for a funeral and this property served as a gathering place for family due to its size and central location. My kids enjoyed learning the story of this historical home. We are excited to stay here again! Highly recommended!

We loved staying here for a winter weekend getaway even though we live right here in this amazing neighborhood. It was perfect for our group of women who could stay close to home but feel like we got away from it all. We've long admired this historic home overlooking the river. The home was clean and the kitchen had great amenities. There were beautiful views of the Kankakee River all throughout the house. The hosts were friendly and made sure we had everything we needed! We hope to do it again in the warmer months when we can utilize the outdoor spaces. A quiet, peaceful weekend retreat!

The house is stunning and so well appointed. But the location is what is most breathtaking. We spent most of our time in camp chairs along the river enjoying the view. Also got a tour of the FLW house across the lawn, which was also wonderful. Quiet, peaceful, historic but with all the modern amenities. And fresh tomatoes! Shari did a wonderful welcome and then left us in privacy for the rest of the weekend. Also greatly enjoyed the Kankakee River State Park. I wish we could have stayed longer. We'll be back with bells on!

We came back to town for a funeral and to visit family. We could not have had a better visit. We created so many new memories. The house was beautiful and so comfortable. Sitting on the porch and watching the river brought back so many memories. The homeowners were so nice! We will be back for sure.

The host was amazing ensuring that everything for my stay was perfect. The house was warm and inviting as well as fully stocked for my stay. This is a place to lock-in if you're looking for great scenery, a lazy flowing river and a wonderful location.
