Awful, traumatizing experience. Had a late start and didn’t arrive until 4am after driving 8 hours; relieved to finally reach hotel. Told check-ins weren’t permitted after 3:30am. Nothing in our prepaid Expedia reservation mentioned a cut-off time. Attendant said Expedia couldn’t be trusted to have correct hotel policy and we might have to pay a “no-show fee” to have the room. Issued us the key and was told manager would be in around 7am to resolve the issue. Tried explaining we had a guaranteed reservation as it was prepaid, attendant didn’t want to hear it. Anyway, got our belongings and went up to the room.
Minutes after we start to unpack, receive a call from an unknown Missouri number, let it go to voicemail. Not a minute later hear a knock at the door and it’s the attendant explaining he called Expedia, says they apologize for not informing me of cut-off, will issue me a refund. Then tells us we need to vacate immediately because of the refunded reservation. Quickly we gather our belongings and get out. Very hostile and weird energy. Guy freaked us out. All of this happens within ten minutes. He kept saying “you should’ve checked in on time.” Great way to keep rooms occupied. Unreal. Never experienced anything like this.
