'All the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel's owner, Konstantin Kostov, was particularly impressive. Always there, it seemed, and he also gave an excellent talk about the Roman baths underneath the hotel. Whatever I asked of him, he always went the extra yard. Any criticism? I had to work hard to come up with one: the fridge in my room was not cold enough!'

'This is the most beautiful old hotel right in the old city. I had a little trouble finding it as you have to pass through the barriers to get access to the old city. Looking at Google maps, I mistakenly thought access was on the main road. Hristo, the owner, had registered my car details so I was waved through the barrier with no problem. 'Fantastische locatie. Aardige mensen en zeer vriendelijk. Ik begrijp dat als je de deur opent en sluit voor elke gast gedurende de nacht dat je zonder goede slaap nukkig kan worden. Ik zou als eigenaar daar een ander slot voor verzinnen. Dit gaat echter niet zonder speciale vergunning omdat het gehele pand een beschermd pand is onder Unesco, lokale en nationale overheid. De kamers zijn uniek en bijzonder om die reden en voldoen volledig aan de moderne vereisten.'
