Sweet Puna Home
The house was attractive, comfortable, spacious, with everything we needed. A peaceful country neighborhood. Especially loved the large yard, and every day discovering some new exotic fruit, foliage or flower on the edge of the “jungle”.

Another week in Paradise's Jungalow
This is our second stay in this unique Jungalow on a beautiful piece of property.... it felt like "coming home" as we drove down the winding driveway. The home has incredible views of its own "rain forested jungle" with fruit trees, orchids, birds etc. I love cooking in their fully stocked kitchen and then leisurely reading on the lovely lanai. We spent each morning at The Cliffs for walks at dawn - just a few minutes away. Sightseeing in Hilo and the surrounding area is only 20 minutes away. We can't wait to return!

Sleep to sound of coqui
Most memorable is falling asleep listening to the coqui frogs at night and rain in the morning. The sound of the coqui frogs wete so relaxing that i had to record it. Location is tucked away from the road and landscaped beautifully. Centrally located between the hamakua coast and vnp. Our host and property manager were very responsive. As the host suggested, when arriving for the first time, it is best to do so in daylight. We arrived late and needed additional directions and help with the lockbox, which was hard to open. We did bring a flashlight, as it was very dark. We had all the amenities we needed and really appreciated the cooler for beverages and lunch while sight seeing. We would definitely stay here again.

Jungalow in Paradise
This house is simply perfect. Sit on the lanai and soak in the songs of nature, frogs serenading in the evening, birds chirping in the mornings, waves roaring against the cliffs in the distance. A great way to start and finish your days here. The house is great, perfect place to reset and reconnect, super clean, well equipped, everything you need and nothing you don't. Pahoa and Keaau are close, Hilo within 30 minutes. Thanks for a lovely trip, can't wait to return to the Jungalow in the near future.

Relaxation Paradise
We loved the house. It was clean and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the frogs at night. The location was quiet except for the frogs. There were several good restaurants close by and in Hilo. Oh, the bed was great. Comimg from Colorado, I enjoyed all the plants and trees around the house.

Beautiful Secluded Property
This property is gorgeous! Every step around it is a view of a different flower, plant or fruit tree. We love the lushness of this side of the island. We stayed 4 nights of our honeymoon here. The house was perfect for us. Very relaxing! Clean, comfortable and private.

Perfect Hilo-side Homebase
We loved the Jungalow! The place was clean, well-stocked with necessities, and the location was perfect (for us). I didn’t need a single thing from the host but I did ask a few questions and she was responsive. Deb has great recommendations for restaurants in nearby Pahoa which we frequented. The house cooled down really nicely at night with the windows open and fan going. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to friends. Thanks for a great stay!

Absolutely amazing place! Secluded and private, but only a 20 minute drive away from nearby Hilo. Had everything I needed, and the wildlife is a pleausre to fall asleep to! Would definitely recommend!

A real getaway!
If you want a real retreat from your normal day to day, the Jungalow may be just the place for you. A roomy, well stocked bungalow - perfect for two. Surrounded by tropical jungle - complete with nature's symphony as 'background music' - this is an ideal getaway spot. We loved our time in this unique location and will not soon forget our experience there!

The house is exactly as pictured. Adorable house, Yard is beautiful. Loved having morning coffee and reading out on the deck. The house does get a little warm during the day if no breeze. Property Manger very helpful when we had a couple questions. Kitchen is very well equipped. It's perfect for 2 people.

A True Paradise
We have visited the Hawaii area over the years and love the wild beauty of this Island! Finding this "Jungalow" has just added a true motivation to return (again and again). This beautiful bungalow sits on a gorgeous piece of manicured property. Our favorite memory is sitting on the lanai watching clouds, birds, sun, plants, rain (sometimes all in the same hour!)_. This VRBO is completely stocked, beautifully furnished and so comfortable! We highly recommend!

Sweet Little Paradise
This Jungalow is a little piece of paradise is fabulous! I recommend staying here for anyone who loves nature, wants to be secluded from touristy hotels, a home away from home! The frogs added a special touch to our stay! For those who complain about their Melody this place isn’t for you (Hawaii probably not either) their music was light and not over bearing! Debra is an excellent host! The place was spotless, shower was great, hot water, the outdoor shower was an added touch! Who wants to shower indoors if you can shower outside lol! The bed was very comfty! Everything you need for your stay!!! We have zero complaints and staying in Debra’s home add special memories to our Hawaiian vacation! Hidden piece Paradise all of our own!
Excellent! The only reason for the 4 stars on location and neighborhood was you have to drive everywhere, a beach is within walking but nothing else. Which we didnt care but someone else might, we drove everywhere to see everything. If you dont like falling to sleep with birds, geckos and frogs singing to you, we loved it, but someone else may not😘 we loved everything and it is so well appointed and supplies all you need are clothes and food.

Development name for this property is apt. Excellent for a couple, one bedroom one bed, very roomy living area with lots of windows, and a complete modern kitchen. Beautifully tropical landscaping, in a jungle island with complete privacy. There were a couple afternoons when a/c would have been nice. The outdoor shower was a nice touch. Wondered about the lack of trash pick up but the xfer station was right of the road to Hilo and it's free. May we'll stay again in the future.

Beautiful In Every Way
The photos accurately depict the botanical garden setting of this special place. The lanai was the perfect place to enjoy every meal, and inside the spacious rooms were outfitted with the highest quality of furniture and bed. The kitchen also had everything one needs for every kind of food prep and cooking, and was complete with many spices and condiments. Communication with Deb and the property manager was easy and returned the same day. This rental is one of the very best we’ve stayed in, and we are grateful for the experience there.

You feel like you are in a secluded location in the middle of nowhere while still being conveniently located. I was worried about being hot, especially while sleeping, but that was not an issue. Loved this location. Wouldn't change a thing. Highly recommend.

It's a nice rental. The house has recently been remodeled and everything was in good condition. It's not TOO far from Hilo but it's off the main road and pleasantly quiet at night (with a few coqui frogs). The walk to the trail to the ocean is a little less than a mile away and the coastline is quite nice there. Couple of notes to be aware of, though. The house is not air conditioned, so if you're planning on being away during the day and close it up, it will take a little while to cool down in the evenings. It does cool down nicely overnight, though. Second point, there's a request from the caretakers to wash the towels they provide yourself before you leave. That takes around 1.75 hours, but it's something you'll need to account for if planning to leave out early - or just bring your own. Trash & recycling also need to be removed but there is a transfer station a couple miles from the house. We wound up not cooking or doing any meals at the house for simplicity of cleaning. I would recommend the property but wanted to give a complete review.

We were excited about this property by the description on VBRO, but that didn't do it justice. The driveway was literally going through the jungle. Home is beautiful. Beautiful and well appointed kitchen. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was very nice. Property is totally private. There are homes around you but the gorgeous vegetation makes it your own. Do not miss the outdoor shower! Fruit trees and the chickens were our welcoming committee. Definitely going back. So hard to leave

The Jungalow was excellent!
The Jungalow was excellent and in a great location! It was less than 1/2 hour to Hilo and also Volcano National Park and less than an hour to go to the ocean at Isaac Hale beach park. There was a gorgeous bluff trail down the street from the Jungalow. The Jungalow's kitchen had plenty of appliances, pots, pans and utensils. There was a BBQ grill available for use and washer and dryer. The bed and furniture were comfortable. The yard, landscaping and surrounding jungle were well maintained, and ate avocado and passion fruit from the trees in the yard. This was a great place to stay!

Our Jungalow Stay
This is a clean, lovely, private little bungalow in a beautiful location! It was exactly as pictured and described! It was so near perfection, I hesitate to complain but want to alert those who, like us, might be coming from a dry desert climate. We knew there was no AC, but figured at the higher elevation, we might have cooler nights. Unfortunately, the first two nights were humid and stuffy with no breeze, and it was cooler outside than in. The last night was blessedly cool, and with all the windows open and the fans blowing, it was heaven. If you’re already inured to the humidity, the jungalow is perfect! If you’re not accustomed to humidity, and if the weather is as muggy and hot as our first two nights, plan to leave early in the morning and return after dark, leaving the windows open and fans blowing while you’re away.

A delightful oasis!
We loved our stay at the jungalow! The house is gorgeous, and the photos capture a fraction of the magic we found. Behind the gates of the complex, we found a well appointed and modern home, perfect for a short or long stay. The grounds are lush and tropical, with fruit trees and flowers to discover. Chickens, cats, geckoes, salamanders, and the sounds of the coqui frogs kept us company. Our hosts were lightning fast with communication, and our stay was perfection. We would definitely stay here again!

We really appreciated Deb working with us to reschedule our vacation due to my fiance have stents put in TWO days before our original trip in April. The Jungalow was amazing! So relaxing, loved walking in the yard looking at geckos! I have to say that Deb put together the BEST information packet ever!! I referred to it throughout our entire trip. Great Place For Relaxing and Exploring
This is a superb propety. Everythiing about it was top notich from the cleanliness, to the communications with great suggestions for exploring, to the awesome settiing which felt like being in the junle, and even the singing frogs who sereanded us and the wild roosters who announced the morning. We absolutely loved being there. We just liked being in the place and then it is very convenient for exploring the East side of the Island.

Great Place and As Advertised
This place was exactly as advertised and it was really cool. Nice location. Not too far from Hilo but far enough. Close to other places around that side of the island. The space was really nice and the sounds of the jungle were fun. First class accommodations just as shown in the pictures. Bed was comfy. A bit warm during the day but we were in July and it was mostly warm and sunny. The fans were more sufficient to cool us off in the evening. To be clear the ocean may be close but the beach is a bit away (half mile to the trail and 2.5 mile hike). A really fun place all in all. True jungle secluded feeling.

A little bit of paradise
We enjoyed our stay at the Jungalow. It is beautifully decorated, modern, well appointed and very clean. The grounds are well maintained and filled with interesting plants and fruit trees. Absolutely exceeded expectations in every way. Peaceful, beautiful, spotless, roomy and serene. Very convenient for going to Volcano National, Hilo, waterfalls, etc. Down the street was the trailhead to Ha'ena Beach. Awesome hike with an incredible and quiet beach...well worth the 2.5 mile hike each way. We would definitely stay again. One of our all-time favorite vacation rentals. Perfect.

This is a a beautiful jungle house surrounded by tropical plants, trees and singing Coqui frogs. We love coming to the Pahoa area to escape all the tourists and to live like a local. Convenient, clean and good communication with the owner. We'd love to come back and stay again in the future!

It was Perfect!
The “Jungalow” was exactly as described! We were only there for 3 nights and found it very hard to leave. It is a bit out of the way from downtown Hilo (approx 25-30 mins driving) but the trade off was seclusion and quiet. We actually enjoyed the sounds and songs on the frogs chirping all night long. It was very relaxing and we will definitely stay here again next time we’re on the Big Island. Mahalo!
