Enjoyable stay in a property with history
Villa Rosa and Villa Vada are sympathetic restorations of old stone-walled cottages. The standout feature is the breath-taking view across the valley. The villas are semi-detached, and well screened from each other, but sound carries.Upstairs, there are the three small bedrooms: one with a queen bed and a small shower room; the other two a double and two singles, sharing a shower room. The air-con worked efficiently. The downstairs living area is rather dark, with two small windows. The kitchen is fairly basic, with limited preparation space, but it's ok for simple meals. There is a bread oven, but we couldn't find a way of firing it up. There's a recess that used to be used for pressing wines that's been preserved as a snapshot of times past. There were a few non-functioning items, but these were speedily rectified by Liza, the property manager, and her husband. The flatscreen TV is adequate although it could do with a soundbar. We used a Roku dongle to access streaming services, as the TV is set to receive satellite channels. The outside is bathed in sun all day. The pool area was perfect for spending a lazy day. The pool is a little overlooked by a path leading to a monastery, but we didn't feel that our privacy was compromised. All in all, we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Villa Rosa and we'd like to thank Liza for her care and attention - including when we accidentally locked ourself out. We particularly appreciated the welcome pack and parting gift.
