Portokali Cottage is een uniek gebouw. Het is genesteld in de heuvels met een privézwembad in een prachtig ommuurd en afgelegen terras met uitzicht dat zich uitstrekt over een beboste, landelijke vallei naar de zee. Het huisje is zorgvuldig gerestaureerd om zijn oorspronkelijke kenmerken te behouden; het interieur heeft authentieke cipressen en houten vloeren. Het is gelegen aan de rand van het kleine dorpje Agrilias met uitzicht dat zich uitstrekt tot aan de zee bij Kaap Dafnoudi. U kunt genieten van prachtige zonsondergangen vanaf de terrassen rondom het gebouw. Het huisje biedt een ideale vakantieomgeving voor degenen die rustieke charme waarderen in combinatie met modern comfort. Beneden zijn de open keuken en woonkamer uit steen gehouwen en blijven dus koel tijdens de hete zomermaanden. Boven zijn de twee grote slaapkamers ruim met hoge plafonds van cipressen met lokale bronnen. De houten vloeren zijn geschilderd in rustgevende mediterrane blauw en groen; prachtige Killim-tapijten zorgen voor karakter en kleur. Het huisje is gelegen in een grote, volwassen, terrasvormige tuin die zowel ruimte als privacy biedt in een omgeving van natuurlijke schoonheid die zowel de groene vallei als de zee combineert. De pittoreske haven van Fiscardo met zijn overvloed aan kade restaurants en cafés ligt echter op slechts 10 minuten rijden. eine schöne woche

wir haben als familie eine woche hier verbracht. übergabe klappte einwandfrei. netter vermieter. gut gepflegt. gute betten. manches könnte man erneuern/verbessern (duschkopffixierung, manche küchenkästchen riechen streng) sehr ruhige lage.

Beautiful Spring Visit

We had a wonderful short visit to the island. The cottage is lovely with plenty of charm and stylish touches; we loved the peaceful valley setting. We explored the area and found some open tavernas in the nearby village which is a short walk away. Our visit was early season, so we were able to do some of the walking trails. Abi was very kind and helpful and recommended places to visit and walks to do.

10 nights stay for wedding

Myself and my partner came out for 10 nights for a wedding. We were greeted with a bottle of Prosecco which was a nice touch. Overall the cottage is nice, it has a nice authentic charm to it. A couple of draw backs: quite dark (downstairs especially), upstairs has okay lighting however due to where the sun hits the area you get ready in is very dark (my partner got ready in the hallway). Also there isn’t a holder for the shower head which I found a tad odd. Sadly our trip here came to quite a strange and unfortunate end. The morning we left, around 8:30 we were “greeted” by the homeowners. We had some friends stay over the night before we left and had visitors frequent the villa quite regularly (as you would expect being out for a wedding). The gentleman was nice enough to us however the lady who owns the villa was shockingly rude. We were accosted and demanded money from as apparently we didn’t book the whole villa, we only booked for 2 people, and therefore we had to pay for our friends who had stayed the night before and they wanted money for towels... We were also advised that the neighbours had mentioned how many people were coming and going, which now makes it feel like we were being spyed on for some reason. It was odd that if the homeowners had a issue midweek they didn’t come speak to us to advise. They also tried to make us clean up, we left it clean, but I mean fully clean - with scrubbers and bleach etc. surely that isn’t the guests responsibility, I’d class myself as a very clean person (almost ocd) and it felt like they wanted any excuse to “moan”. All in all it left quite a bitter taste in our mouth. I’d have given 4 stars if it wasn’t for the unfortunate end to our trip.

A place to unwind

We stayed here with our two children age 15 and 11. Relaxing and tranquil location. Pool and terrace area are fabulous for some quiet reading time and an afternoons doze. You could hear a pin drop first thing in the morning too. Very peaceful spot. Manganos is about a 15 minute walk up the hill and has two little supermarkets which were fine for us and four restaurants. Our favourite place to eat was at Alaties Beach Bar but we had to book 3-4 days in advance. Reginas boat hire in Fiskardo is a must do, a visit to Assos too. We managed to enjoy playing tennis at the stunning Emelisse Hotel for €20 per hour. Favourite beach for us was Emplissi which is about a 10 minute drive away. Get there for 1030 to pick your spot. All beaches we tried were clean with beautiful clear water and brilliant snorkelling. 30-35c and clear blue skies for two weeks. Lucky us. Thank you to Nick and Abi who were very helpful from start to finish. Would highly recommend. ☀️☀️

Portokali paradise!

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful, traditional property. As a family of four with two young children it was spacious and cool and the swimming pool was perfect for the hot weather. The property is very private and the valley and sea views spectacular. Would highly recommend.

Our stay in Erisos was lovely. The house is beautiful from the outside with a lovely pool and shaded terrace with a table and chairs. The inside is rustic but confortable and the bedrooms are cool with air con. The location is perfect with lovely views from the house and two close tavernas to drive to in the evening with excellent small beaches for snorkelling. Fiskardo is a 10 mins drive away and is our favourite town on the island. It has a beautiful harbour, small shops and plenty of restaurants.

lovely cottage in peaceful location

We had a very enjoyable week at Portakali Cottage and found everything to be to our satisfaction. The cottage is well equipped and in an excellent peaceful location only some 10 minute drive to the nearby popular Fiscardo, with all its tavernas and shops, although there are several tavernas locally at Magganos, just a 10 minute stroll. For a great breakfast or lunch the taverna Picnic is well worth a visit and the staff are so friendly. There is also a well stocked mini market. There are several really nice beaches close by and our favourites were Emplesi and Foki, near Fiscardo -beautiful little beaches and the water is so clear, perfect for swimming. We also visited Myrtos beach which is quite stunning and the nearby village of Assos is also worth a visit and a perfect spot for a lunch break by the small harbour. The weather during our stay was lovely and quite hot towards the end of our week but air conditioning is provided at the cottage. The pool is great for cooling off on those hot days. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and are only sorry that we did not stay longer, so we will have to make a return visit. The owners Abi and Nick are very helpful and a pleasure to deal with.

Relaxing space and wonderful hosts

The house was perfectly equipped: charming, rustic and private without being isolated. Walking distance to a few family restaurants where the proprietors are welcoming and friendly and you will likely be the only diners they are not related too. Only a 5-10min walk to posted hiking trails that offer foot access to the entire (Fiskardo area) peninsula. Very reasonably positioned to hit Cephalonia's major attractions by car. Cottage owner available but not intrusive and pleasantly responsive and helpful. Enjoy your stay!

A beautiful and relaxing haven

Portokali Cottage is perfectly situated in a small village close to two great beaches and the buzzy town of Fiskardo. The house is well equipped and furnished with great care and attention to detail. The two bedrooms are very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would highly recommend it for others.

Fantastic holiday in a peaceful and beautiful house

The cottage is in a great setting; 10 minutes from Fiskardo and within easy reach of some beautiful beaches e.g. Dafnoudi, Agia Jerusalem and Alaties all of which were great for snorkelling. We can also highly recommend hiring a boat from Regina in Fiskardo and doing a day trip to Ithaca. On the way to the airport we stopped off in Argostoli and saw the loggerhead turtles which was an amazing experience. Nick and Abi we’re great; very welcoming and on hand for any questions.

Beautiful cottage in a stunning location

My husband and I recently spent two glorious weeks at this beautiful cottage. Well equipped, totally private and lovely views over the valley and lemon, fig and orange trees in the garden. We had to drag ourselves away from the cottage to do some exploring around the island and decided that where we were was the best place to be. It was less than 10 minutes drive to the pretty harbour of Fiskardo where we enjoyed many morning coffees and evening meals in the wide range of restaurants. We highly recommend this property!

A Precious Gem

We searched high and low for our dream cottage, when we found this on on homeaway we hoped we'd found it. From the moment we arrived we knew we had. The location is first rate, the view is breathtaking, the gardens well established and gorgeous. The pool area is beautifully done, the perfect place to sunbathe and cool off. The house is just our cup of tea, it is decorated throughout with such style, it's cool downstairs, and airy upstairs. We loved our time here, thank you Abi and Nick for the holiday of a lifetime.

A charming, idyllic and authentic holiday cottage in a beautiful location.

We absolutely loved our stay at Abi's charming cottage. From the moment we booked the place, Abi was helpful and friendly and provided excellent directions to the cottage and advice. The cottage itself is so lovely - beautifully decorated inside and out with plenty of authentic Greek charm. There were lots of thoughtful touches that Abi had arranged, and the house was really well equipped with everything we needed. She even gave us detailed information about the best beaches in the area, and let us help ourselves to the ripe lemons on the tree outside - drinking fresh lemon tea on the deck by the pool in the mornings and enjoying the views was wonderful! The village of Magganos is great, with two friendly, well stocked shops that were open until the evening, and a taverna. We were lucky enough to have some great weather, even in late October, and there are a variety of stunning beaches nearby, which we had virtually to ourselves. We can't wait to come and stay again!

Perfect

A perfect escape. We drove from the airport with no problems using Abi's detailed directions and found this beautiful cottage overlooking a wonderful rural landscape surrounded by the sea. We relaxed! We walked, swam, explored little beaches ( one with only us on it!) and wandered around Fiscardo looking at the super yachts. We ate in Manganos and in a little taverna on Aghias Jerusalem beach where the food was all home cooked by the Greek family and absolutely delicious. Abi brought us her home grown new potatoes, courgettes and mange -tout and we picked lemons and oranges from the trees around the cottage. So quiet and relaxing just dipping in and out of the pool and listening to the tinkling of the sheep's bells! We loved it.

Dream Holiday

Portokali Cottage is the ideal place to stay if you want a character cottage in a lovely peaceful rural setting, with outstanding views of the valley and sea. The only sound is that of the birds and the tinkle of the goats bells. The cottage is very clean and has everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a lovely pool on a sunny terrace. Abi and Nick, the owners, are very friendly, and we enjoyed chatting to them about places of interest to visit, and the best walks and beaches nearby. Whilst we were there we hired a boat from nearby Fiskardo, to visit the neighbouring island Ithaki and cruise around looking for little private beaches. The beaches are not sandy, but are ideal for swimming in the clear warm waters, along with the little fish. There is a plethera of lovely harbourside tavernas to enjoy the delicious Greek food, whilst watching the sunset. There is a good local shop a few minutes drive away to buy everyday items. We particularly enjoyed a vist to Asoss. I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful holiday, who enjoys the outside life.

A slice of heaven

We have just returned from a two week stay at this idyllic property and have not stopped wishing that we were still there. As a family of four, with two teenagers the property was a perfect place to get away from it all. Scrupulously clean, beautifully decorated and furnished with a traditional greek ambiance, yet all mod cons, it catered for everyone's needs and comfort. Abi was a wonderful, friendly host - always at hand for helpful tips and a chat! Highlights of our stay included waking to the gentle chimes of mountain goats passing each morning, snorkelling in water clear as glass at the local beaches, taking a motorboat out from Fiscardo to find a breathtaking private cove for the day, watching the sunset as we walked to the excellent nearby tavernas. We can't recommend this place enough!
