Beautiful site. The cottges were ok. It was to warm inside, because the heating was permanent on 20 degrees. The lightplan inside was not so good. And not sustainable. A little upgrade is necessary. But nevertheless, we had a nice time!

The cottage was very cozy. My family enjoyed the stay very much. The bathroom was very small though and didn't have much room for a big guy like my husband. Overall we really like the cottage!

Very remote location with limited resources for dining and fuel. The cottage was clean, simple and adequate for our stay. The two downstairs rooms had bunk beds where the lower bed was a double mattress. It was surprisingly comfortable. These bedrooms were very, very small so there was nowhere to stow luggage apart from other common areas. The breakfast service was nice due to the lack of other options, but fairly limited. It worked fine for us.

Ich hatte aufgrund anderer Bewertungen weniger erwartet, aber es war völlig in Ordnung. Das Cottage war sauber, es hat nicht gemüffelt. Ok, es ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen und man muss alle Heizungen voll aufdrehen, damit es warm ist, aber uns hat es zwei Nächte gute Unterkunft geboten und wir waren froh, dass wir in einem Cottage waren. Das Wetter war gestern echt mies. So hatten wir mehr Raum und konnten uns bestens versorgen. In einem Guesthouse-Zimmer wäre uns vermutlich die Decke auf den Kopf gefallen. In der Ecke von Island ist es recht einsam. Würde es daher wieder buchen.

Nice, quiet place right off the ring road. Beautiful landscape. We were bummed to find the two hot tubs on the property completely empty. Bathroom/shower ok. Shower water did not get very warm. Still would stay here again/recommend it to friends.

Die kleinen Häuschen sind schön und ruhig gelegen, der Check in war unkompliziert. Parkplatz neben dem Haus ist vorhanden, TV und gutes Internet ebenso. Von allen Unterkünften auf Island (bisher 4) war dies die Sauberste. Zudem war alles in noch neuerem Zustand und noch nicht so abgewohnt. Die Küche hatte genug Ausstattung (Töpfe, Pfanne, Toaster, …). Einzige Kritikpunkte sind die dünnen Matratzen und dass das Haus aufgrund der Bauweise laut knarrt, wenn man rumläuft. Wenn schon jmd schläft, kann dies störend sein. Ich kann diese Unterkunft dennoch empfehlen.

Discovered as we travelled that Iceland isn’t really renowned for accommodation. This was a one night pit stop on the usual round the island driving trip. Plus points Easy to find and get to. Check in is not where it’s shown on the email and the cabin was small and claustrophobic in the bedrooms. As others have said, plenty of posted warnings of additional charges if you fail to wash up dishes etc and the hot tubs at the front both out of use and look like they’ve been that way for a very long time. Ok for a night but expensive like the rest of the country

Una cabaña sin grandes pretensiones. Tiene un termo de agua caliente con lo que hay que andarse con cuidad si hay mucha gente. Ojo que no se incluye el desayuno y da lugar a confusión con el hostel que si lo incluye.

Jolis petits chalets spacieux avec au rez-de-chaussée une grande pièce avec la cuisine, le salon, la salle de bain et 2 chambres avec pour la 1 ère un lit superposé pour 2 personnes et l’autre chambre un lit à étage avec un lit double en bas et 2 lit individuel au dessus. A l’étage une mezzanine avec 2 lits simples. La literie mériterait d’être changée ainsi que les rideaux des chambres , d’époque et ne cache rien de la lumière du jour ! Petit déjeuner buffet disponible dans le bâtiment principal en supplément, celui ci manque un peu de choix par rapport au prix payé ! Très calme, très agréable

Un beau chalet. Environnement agréable. Cependant, les matelas sont vraiment à changer et des rideaux opaques devraient être installés. Quand le soleil ne se couche pas vraiment l'été et que les portes sont vitrées, pas facile de dormir.

In general we enjoyed our stay but there are some areas for improvement. In Cabin 5, the shower faucets were not labeled and we could not figure out how to shower without scalding ourselves. Even after we got help from Reception it was nearly impossible to graduate to a reasonable heat level. Also since we were out and about most days, it was hard to be at the hotel at a time when the reception office was open. Their hours are not very user friendly (early mornings or late evenings would help!) And finally it would be great if each cabin had a mirror outside the bathroom given that these rooms are set up for large groups. Cabin 5 had an extra mirror while Cabin 4 did not.

2 rooms on 1st floor are small. No space for a small baggage. 2nd floor room is spacey but stair is small and steep. It is nice cottage located in the middle of nowhere so buy your snacks prior of arrival.

The Horgsland cottages were a great option for our family of 5. It provided a convenient and affordable basecamp for our adventures exploring the southern section of Vatnajokull National Park. We stayed in cabin 7 which was very clean and comfortable. The cabin interior was in good condition and exceeded expectations, especially after reading other reviews. The pictures very accurately reflected the cabin we stayed in. Lots of windows so it felt bright and open, yet the blackout shades worked very well at night. The kitchen had all the basics which allowed us to cook breakfast and prepare lunches to take with us each day. Wifi worked great for entertainment on personal devices at night. Only 1 channel on the TV and no streaming services available. Communication was great. I had a few last minute questions prior to arriving and Igor responded very quickly. Check-in was super quick. Plenty of parking. It was very quiet. The only negative feedback I have was that the hot tubs were not operational and didn't look like they had been for a while. They were not listed in the amenities but were in many pictures. I'd suggest adding a note to the property description calling this out. If you are looking for luxury, don't stay here. This is for people who are comfortable with no frills accommodations. Overall we were extremely happy with the cabin and would stay here again.

Old and run down.
Dont let the app photos fool you. We had cabin 1 (closest to the office). There where power sockets hanging out of the walls, nails and screws also. The microwave was missing a leg so it was very lop sided. The matreses sagged alot, it reminded me of a half circle. The shower head doesn't stay facing upwards as the bracket was broken, there is no wifi as signal is so weak you can not conect (and we were in the cabin closest to reception where it came from) the t.v didnt work either. The heating was terrible as well. There was a sign saying the temperature cant be adjusted so it was quite cold. The cabin looked to me to have been built in the early 2000s and no significant maintenance done since.

The place was ok, but very expensive. Of course it's expensive because it's isolated and there aren't many options around, but even then we stayed somewhere nicer and cheaper the night before. 3 things were disappointing: -Whilst we could control the heaters in the 2 small bedrooms, and the heat was nice, we found the unit that is meant to heat the kitchen and loft area basically blows colder air than it should. They don't provide the remote and set the temperature at 22, but it felt like it was blowing cold air, not 22 temp air. We would have liked to be able to turn it off at least! Plus it was noisy too. -We had an old knackered sponge. Given how much we paid and stayed for 2 nights, a reasonable sponge would have been appreciated, not one where all the green bits have mostly gone. -The showerhead holder was broken -Pretty much no TV channels, and definitely no netflix or anything like that. So it was a good place to stay, but overpriced, and without the attention to detail.

Insgesamt war die Hütte in Ordnung. An sich war es auch sauber. Nur die Dusche ist renovierungsbedürftig, wenigstens ein neuer Duschvorhang müsste sein, der hat sichtlich genug mitgemacht. Es war unten auch leider etwas frisch. Auch dass die Klimaanlage nonstop lief und nicht bedienbar war, war nicht optimal. Außerdem war das Geländer bei der Terrasse kaputt oder nie richtig befestigt worden. Außerdem gab es KEINEN Whirlpool bzw. war dieser nicht nutzbar, so wie im Inserat angegeben.

The cottage had mold in the shower, the doors, the window seals. Horrible smell in the cottage. No sheets on the top bunks, dingy beds. No hot tub, no restaurant. I took photos of everything. The owners are ignoring me, no one was in the buidling for check out early cause we felt sick staying in that cottage. I even had hotels.com call the owners and they said they will review my refund request but never reached out. Never refunded. THIS PLACE IS NOT SAFE DO NOT BOOK

We enjoyed staying at the little cottage. The bathroom was basic, and ok. The rooms didn't allow for larger beds than 90cm, but we still enjoyed our stay there and had a good night's rest. The kitchen is small and has basic amenities.

Great space, beautiful outdoor areas. Cabin needs attention, a lot of small details are missing. A lot of missing trims and broken handrails with nails sticking out. Cobwebs in the windows. Dirty and worn out carpets. Bathroom could use a gallon of bleach, a lot of mold. Zero storage in rooms and bathroom, nowhere to hang a towel, no microwave, broken light fixtures. No heater in the common area. Big water heater but hot water doesn't last. There is a lot of potential on this property but they have definitely stop caring for it.

Eigentlich nette, einfache Hütten - und schön beheizt. Unsere war schon etwas abgewohnt und auch nicht übermäßig saube. Aber es gab eine kleine Pantryküche mit Kühlschrank, Wasserkocher, Toaster und Bettwäsche und Handtücher inkl. 8 Personen können dort übernachten, wenn man sich dann auch immer auf den Füßen steht. Für eine Nacht aber völlig ok und dann auch vom Preis her sehr attraktiv. Es gibt auf dem Gelände auch 2 Hot Tubs, die schnell zu Fuß erreichbar sind.

Our family stayed here for one night and found the listing to be inaccurate and the cabin in need of repair. The listing states that there are charcoal grills so we picked up charcoal and meat to cook on our way in. Once we got there we were informed that they were no longer offering grills and did not serve dinner on site, only breakfast. There is no oven so we were left to attempt to make dinner on one stovetop burner inside. When asking staff for extra bedding we were given a duvet without the cover and a pillow without the case. The cottage does sleep 7 even though the listing makes this confusing. The bathroom smelled like sewage and the shower head clamp was broken. The picnic table on the patio is also ready to collapse. Overall, nothing terrible but our only below average stay in iceland.
