Be clear: check in starting at 4 DOES NOT mean you may get your room at 4pm. We arrived for pre-check in at 3pm and were told we may not have our room ready on time because they were busy and understaffed. We were permitted to use the facilities but did not get into our room until almost 7pm.
Needless to say, I was frustrated. I tried contacting Expedia and was transferred from person to person and eventually told it was my fault because I wasn't physically there (I was) and that I had chosen to pay at the facility there wasn't much they could do.
I then had 2 experiences at the front desk. One staff member (name excluded) kept saying that I didn't understand because the island is busy and it is check in day. I said I understood that and was understanding of understaffing but she was becoming visibly upset with me for expressing my frustration at the lack of clarity at booking and also became increasingly rude. I then was able to speak with Melissa who was much more helpful. Melissa listened and was kind and we were able to find a fair solution.
The suite itself was amazing and definitely worth a stay if they can get the turnover figured out. Beds were comfy, bathrooms clean and the space was nice overall.
