First, and most importantly, DO NOT EVER RENT FROM VACASA. We rented this property through VRBO believing it was a property managed locally and advertised on VRBO. It was, instead, a VACASA managed property listed on VRBO. This resulted in 600-plus junk fees: 200in fees for VRBO, a 200-plus VACASA booking, a required 79 bond, a 67 fee that VACASA charges the guest to pay for the VRBO Listing and so on. It’s a complete rip off.You see the listing and taxes as affordable, but later, when you look at the total price, it doubles the cost from the extra and nonsensical fees. Second, while the views to the right (yes, those water scenes) are lovely, the view to the left is a busy road. This unit sits as close to the road as is possible without actually being in the road. We heard traffic night and day. This is extremely dishonest photography and marketing. Note that the listing describes it as “peaceful.” I guess if traffic noise is your sense of peaceful…Third, the unit does not have AC and is stifling without being able to allow breezes in, which of course means allowing in the traffic noise, so it’s a matter of picking your poison.We asked VACASA to move us, and they refused. VACASA is dishonest and a terrible company (read the 1000s of 1-star reviews because they don’t lie). I’m sorry for this owner because the property has some nice features, but I cannot recommend this at all given its location, the lack of AC, and the truly unscrupulous management company the owners

First of all, for the strengths, the place was clean and the wifi worked well. There were also welcome snacks/gifts on the dining table, which was a nice touch. It was a cozy and good-enough apartment. We stayed here for 3 nights, and it was much more expensive than another rental that was superior on many levels, but it seems that the pattern is that rentals in this southern area of Kauai are just more expensive. Just be aware that this is an old apartment (the kitchen knives, scissors, etc. are getting old) in an old building. The apartment is overall dark despite turning on all the lights. A parasol and bodyboards would be appreciated additions (especially given the price of this rental), and I let Vacasa/the owner know.

Great unit with an awesome view to wake up to. We had an issue with the lock on arrival but the management company was extremely responsive in sorting it out. My only complaint is that the BBQ’s are way over by the garbage bins which doesn’t necessarily make you want to Grimm. Otherwise great property and would recommend.

I was very happy with the condition and supplies provided with the unit. The kitchen was fully stocked, there were beach chairs available to take with me to beaches, and they even left a welcome basket with some snacks and coffee for that next morning (life saver!) Sunsets are beautiful and easily accessible at the other end of the small property near The Beach House restaurant next door - which was always busy and smelled delicious. The property management team was responsive the only time I had a request. As listed, there is no AC. I knew this going in but was too warm at night since there are minimal fans and poor air flow throughout the unit. My only true complaint has no reflection on the owners or property management team, and that is the obnoxious traffic sounds at night. The loud cars/trucks and their often blaring music were impossible to sleep thru waking me up at least a few times every single night during my week's stay. Because of the no AC and poor airflow, closing the bedroom window to limit traffic noise was not an option. Lucky for me, beach naps are one of my super powers. :)

The property location is ideal for restaurants and activities on the island. Everything is very convenient or a reasonable drive. The condo is well supplied with the essentials for a comfortable stay. What lacks in comfort is the furniture, it’s fine if you are out most of the time but uncomfortable to lounge on the sofa for any period of time. There is 1 chaise lounge on the lanai, there needs to be 2 so both people can enjoy being outside. There is a small table and 2 chairs on the lanai, but they are not comfortable for any period of time. The bed is okay for sleeping but could be more comfortable with a better mattress. The sheets, while clean, are a bit rough. A higher quality set of sheets would add greatly to a person’s overall comfort. There is plenty of storage space for your belongings while visiting. Cedar lined closets are a nice touch. Drawer space is sufficient for 2.The elevator in the building is nice to have when you’re tired and don’t want to climb stairs. The building has 2 elevators but the one was always out of service. Light switches take a little effort to get used to for the lights over the table, the desk, and the bedroom. It’s not readily apparent that there are dimmers on some of them that work very differently than others we have seen. The bedroom light switch has 2 main switches. One only controls the light and the other (preferred) switch controls both light and fan. We had a good stay, but the details make a difference between good and great.

The unit was beautiful with on the water ocean view seeing turtles feeding upon the rocks. Unit was equiped with everything one would need. Lanai was Nice and breezy to stay cool. enjoyed use of the grassy grounds where you can watch surfers all day long, walk next door to one of Kauai's most sought after restaurants. The unit is a corner unit providing a private entrance area. An easy 2nd floor access to beach or parking. I would want to rent this unit again and again. Super cool location. Clean and great view of the cove outside. Close to the road so did hear the traffic and people walking by but not bothersome. Adequate parking and the BBQs were very useful. The beach chairs and cooler were great to have included too. For the most part comfortable (the couch cushions were pretty old so the wicker frame pokes through, not really good for lounging for any duration. Plenty of fans to keep you cool. The kitchen had everything we needed except a vegetable peeler and ice trays for ice cubes. There are several local markets nearby for everything we needed. Not for the condo but in general make your reservations weeks in advance if there's a restaurant you want to go to, don't rely on last minute or thinking you'll just show up and get a table. Corner unit is misleading--the corner is to a busy road with loud and bright traffic through the evening. Unit is very dated, bathroom has no ventilation, but bed is comfy. Bedroom has termites, which leave wood poop piles on the bedside table and underneath bedside table each day. No air conditioning, and very poor ventilation throughout condo considering you have to keep the front door wide open and the bedroom windows open, but then have to deal with the loud traffic. Lanai has only partial ocean view, and partial road view. Unit offers low value considering cost.

The condo was exactly as listed - the bedding and linens were very nice. The location was perfect- steps from The Beach House Restaurant. Great views on the ocean and surfers! The owners were very communicative and sweet. I highly recommend this property. It is close to the street so you will hear traffic but the wind and waves drown out most of the noise. This neighborhood is very quiet at night. Just a relaxing and peaceful experience!

The property itself was very comfortable. I slept so well there and loved hearing the waves. However, the fact that VRBO gave all my contact information to the property management company (Vacasa), who immediately started spamming me with email solicitations, and the property owner was surprising and frustrating. Vacasa also caused some confusion by sending me a duplicate email invitation with a different property name. The check-out process wasn't exactly clear. Vacasa's app said one thing, but that didn't match the information they texted me on the day we checked out. I will not use Vacasa again. I would also strongly urge VRBO to protect user information and either require all communication to go through the VRBO app or give users the option to have their contact information shared with the property owner/manager.
