Nice spacous room but less than great staff ... not customer oriented, instead seemed bothered in serving especially at check in and at the bar / restaurant. And to top it off, the parking guy damaged our car. These people just dont seem to care.

This is a historic hotel right in the heart of La Jolla. You can walk to the beach, shopping and restaurants. If you don't want to walk, they have a little mini shuttle and one of the valets will drive you. The hotel staff are all friendly and accommodating. Our room had an ocean view, was spacious and decorated in a coastal theme. The bed was very comfortable, the closet was spacious and there were a lot amenities including water and snacks. The restaurant was closed the days we were there, but we have dined there before for lunches and it is outstanding. There isn't a gym on premises, but gym access is granted to hotel guests at a facility a short walk away. The gym is well equipped and not crowded. The only downside to our stay was the building construction across the street, so sleeping in was not an option. Once that is over with, this hotel is a little slice of heaven for sure.

While we are indeed within walking distance of just about everything there is to see and do in the Village, they are a great way to hitch a ride to/from your destination. We have stayed here before and love it. Everyone is friendly - food is great. We booked the corner room on the 5th floor. VERY nice however when you pay the extra to get the best - the bed should be comfortable instead of broken down sagging at the sides. We felt like we were both slipping off the edge. Perhaps management should take a snooze to make the call as to when it’s time to get a new mattress.
