This property has provided lodging to amazing guests since the 1940's. Gregory Peck and other movie stars lived in our cottages when the La Jolla Playhouse was the big theater in California for all the big movie stars to shine on stage for live performances. Some say their presence left the home charmed.

Rest peacefully in this relaxing, 2 bedroom rustic beach cottage in the peaceful Windansea Beach village of La Jolla. This unique and welcoming cottage is about a mile from La Jolla Village which offers a superb shopping experience. It's very close to Bird Rock, La Jolla cove, and La Jolla Shores. It's a few miles from Pacific Beach and Sea World. The zoo is conveniently close as well. If you would rather see seals and sea lions in the wild, we have plenty of those within walking distance at La Jolla cove. You can snorkel at the cove with wild sea lions swimming around you. There's also a wonderful opportunity to swim with hundreds of little leopard sharks when they come to shallow water to breed. It's an amazing experience! There's always something fun to do in and around La Jolla's Windansea Beach neighborhood.

There's abundant sea breeze to cool and freshen the home about 98% of of the year and for those few days where the breeze dies down, there's air conditioning to help you keep cool.

At Villa Tranquila, you may enjoy indoor and outdoor dining. The vintage kitchen has what you need to prepare fresh meals. From pots and pans to measuring cups, you'll find the kitchen is well-stocked.

A unique offer of this home is a wonderful, natural sea breeze created by a corridor of homes up and down Gravilla St. A lovely, fresh wind is available to freshen the home about 98% of of the year. For those rare days where the breeze dies down, take advantage of the air conditioning unit or fans to help you keep cool.

The cozy living room has a soft, down-stuffed sofa that can seat 2 adults and 2 little kids. This cozy little room is most comfortable when the sofa bed is in couch position, however, if you need a 3rd bed, the Queen sofa bed is great for lightweight adults and kids. The home comes with fans, if you happen to come on a rare, breeze-free day.

This 2-bedroom home offers the following:

-Main bedroom with queen bed, drawers, closet, access to the bathroom, and window AC for Summer (we can provide AC year round if you arrange it at the time of boooking)

-The guest room offers a tall, full-size platform bed with a lot of space for luggage beneath it. It's small with no closet but has clothing storage. It has a large window to let in natural light and beachy air. It comes with a fan for cooling.

Enjoy outdoor dining with a private-use outdoor space and a table that seats 4.

Our single-bathroom homes are most comfortable for up to 4 guests if you have more than 4, please reach out before booking so we can be sure this space will work for your needs. Big family? You can book two or three of our side-by-side villas for up to 15 guests.

Our humble, rustic cottage is not suited to people with allergies or people who expect a property without wear-and-tear. We want our rentals to be pet-friendly so we do not try to keep them perfect. We use non-toxic/humane pest control which sometimes takes longer to work. In a nutshell, wear and tear, a little fur/sand, and the occasional pest is included in the rental. Thank you for understanding. =)

Pet owners: Pet fee is $20/night per pet. The following canines are not allowed on the property due to our insurance restrictions: Akita, Cane Corso, Chow Chows, Dogo Argentino, Pit Bull, Presa Canario (Canary dog), Rottweiler, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and any wild canine or hybrid thereof. No destructive or aggressive animals allowed. If your pet isn't used to traveling and staying in a new place please reach out to us about having a plan in place to be sure they are safe and comfortable. We don't allow people to leave distressed pets in the rentals. Service dogs must be with and under the control of their handler at all times.
