This place was beautiful. It was out of town so it didn’t feel like we were cramped in the city but only 20 minutes from all the food and shopping. We live in the country so it felt like home away from home. Unfortunately my whole family got sick day 2 there so we didn’t get to enjoy the trails.

And, it's still close to major shopping outlets and towns. The hosts are generous, welcoming you with fresh eggs. They respond immediately to all your questions/needs. A very nice lodge on a large property. Probably 1000 feet back from the road it is private and quiet. The owners raise free range chickens that will run happily to you if you decide to feed them. There are fresh eggs in your rental and honey from their bees.

Lovely property
We were looking for a clean and restful place for a mini vacation and this place fit the bill. Enjoyed the view, the walk to the waterfalls and the jacuzzi. Needed help to start the pellet stove and the owner came right over and we stayed warm and toasty.

Would definitely stay again!
The lodge was quaint and cozy, the perfect place for a relaxing getaway. It was clean and had everything you could possibly need for a short vacation, including a jacuzzi tub! The surrounding property was gorgeous with several fun and short hikes that we partook in to get out and enjoy the nature. Matt and Kristy were great hosts and helped with anything we needed, including purchasing more free-range eggs! There is also a supermarket just 10 minutes down the road so there is plenty of easy access to food. If you stay here, I would recommend bringing your own pillows, though that is a personal preference, of course. Thank you for such a wonderful stay :)

Fabulous Stay!
Getting away from home with a home that’s the feeling of home is a good thing. The opportunity to walk the trails or buy honey made from their very own bee hive is a nice addition to getting away. It’s also a nice feeling to know that Kristy and Matt were near by than away from the property. So, being away and yet connected was and is a nice thing to have for a relaxing time spent with none other than family.

Excellent country property! Hang out with the chickens, do a beekeeper tour, waterfall trails, s’mores around the fire & a jetted tub! No need to go into town with all the great things to do on the homestead!

We were in the area for a family reunion. We were extremely busy and only used the Lodge for sleeping. It would have been nice to just relax, chill and enjoy this beautiful property but our prior commitments made this impossible. When we return to the area this property will be our first choice, thank you Matt and Kristy for the wonderful stay!

My friend and I came here for a getaway and we could not have chosen better! The property is beautiful and we were so happy to see how clean everything was. The pellet stove and electric fireplaces made the place super cozy, and everything was so well stocked. Our hosts were great about communication and we can’t wait to come back!

A Nice Getaway
It was a nice getaway for a couple. The property owners responded quickly when we did need to reached out to them with questions. My only concern was walking from the parking to the door as you have to walk around to the back of the building, over the yard, and was very muddy while we were there. That being said, we would still consider going back.

Perfect peaceful getaway...
If you are looking for room service and turn down service then this is not your place. If you're looking for somewhere close to Syracuse and the airport, yet far enough away that you feel like you are out in the country with chickens running in your backyard, complete with fresh eggs and honey in the kitchen, beautiful beautiful views of the woods out your backdeck.. If you yearn for privacy, peacefulness and the clean country smell, than this is your place to stay!!!

Excuses for everything—- A bit strange, lots of bugs, and a massive rule book once you get there!
There were many bugs in the lodge. I let them know I had photos of all of the bugs but I wasn’t sure how to send them. I did not get a response until well after we left stating this is one of the cons of being in the country and doors and windows should be kept closed. We had no windows open at all and the sliding glass doors were never left open. They did, however, inform us (not so nicely), that “in the less than 12 hours we were there, that the lodge door was opened 21 times”, suggesting this was “too many”, and as if we were to blame. Then went on to say that they did not “see” any of these so called bugs. Well, that would be because we cleaned up before we left, however, I assure you, I still have these photos in my phone and I am more than willing to share them. Also, 21 times in my opinion is not excessive. The smell of sulfur was pretty extreme. We did notice that the septic truck was there the morning we left , which we understand “stuff happens”, pun intended, however, we did express that we needed to ensure that parking would not be an issue as we had a 26 foot moving truck and two twelve foot trailers with us as well as an SUV, which I expressed prior to coming and inquired about parking and was told it would not be a problem. Granted, we realized that we were able to leave the truck and trailers at the storage facility once we arrived in Syracuse. We were very happy about this once we arrived at the lodge as there were so many cars parked there already and a certification class of sorts going on in the under portion of the house we were renting. Also, the septic truck would have been a major encumbrance the morning during our departure as it arrived as we were leaving. Their response to this when I expressed concern was that when I told them, “just before we arrived” (30 minutes prior), was that their class is held in a separate facility. It is not- it is held in the bottom of the physical house that is advertised on Vrbo as the lodge, not a separate facility. They stated their students had to walk further to get to the class because they thought we were bringing our moving vehicles- as if we had inconvenienced them. Also, since we didn’t have our trucks, this would be a perfect time to have their every 3 yr septic clean. Finally, my sister and her hubby left and got a hotel because the air mattresses would not stay full, with no one on them. They asked if they tried the pull out sofa. I’m glad others enjoyed! We did not.

Oh my. We are so sorry that you found issues with so many things. This is definitely not the norm as all of our other reviews show. We are glad things worked out for parking for everyone and that we were able to schedule the 3yr septic cleaning without any issues.

The property is beautiful and peaceful, and the rental was spacious and clean. The air mattresses in the loft were very comfortable, and we had a restful sleep. We appreciated the little extras like plenty of coffee, snacks, and water bottles i the fridge. Dealing with the owners was great too. They completely gave us our space and let us come and go as we pleased, but were readily available to contact via message. The check in was easy too. It really was no hassle at all and completely relaxing and I’d definitely return.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week’s stay at Matt and Kristy’s. We had a busy week, and it was so soothing to come ‘home’ to such a quiet, beautiful setting. We loved sitting and dining on the back deck, watching the chickens and wildlife, and walking the back property. The gorge area tucked out back was a sweet surprise. Great place to get away and relax in the beautiful country! The lodge had everything we needed and was very clean. The floor plan is very open and convenient, lots of seating and table space. Driving around nearby was very easy, it was a quick drive to local restaurants and to Syracuse. My favorite part of the trip was watching all the birds on the balcony in the morning while enjoying coffee (with the provided keurig and kcups)! There were a few "rules" in the Lodge Manual to follow, but nothing outrageous (ex. no shoes in the house, only eat in the kitchen/dining area, try not to leave lights on, take out trash upon leaving, etc.), and definitely understandable to keep the Lodge nice. The manual was very informative and helpful, such as giving WIFI passwords, listing all the amenities and explaining how things work, suggesting nearby places to go/eat, and Matt and Kristy were available for any questions/issues. We only stayed for one night so we didn't have any major issues, but I know they would have been of help in any way we needed (they messaged me a couple times to make sure everything was alright). They live in the house right next door; Matt was working on stuff outside when we arrived (was very welcoming and made sure we were alright) and when we left (asked us how everything went and was very kind). Overall, it was a great trip, Matt and Kristy are wonderful hosts, and I would definitely stay at the Lodge again for longer next time!

This stay made for the perfect fall getaway! We took advantage of being a short drive away from at least a dozen apple orchards and pumpkin patches, getting our fill of quintessential upstate new york autumn activities. The property itself is stunning, from the wildflowers and chickens to the forest and the views. Sitting around the fireplace and soaking in the jacuzzi tub is a perfect end to any evening. Our family of five had a wonderful time. Matt and Kristy were very nice hosts. Our three kids each had their own (air mattress) beds in the loft area without feeling crowded. Just watch out for the low angled ceiling- lol. The master bedroom was comfortable and we even tried out the jet hot tub. We only stayed one night but we were able to explore around their wooded backyard. My kids loved the chickens running around! Speaking of chickens, the farm fresh eggs in the refrigerator was a lovely bonus. Dinner at Heritage Hill Brewhouse (about 10 minutes away) was great! The sunset was amazing! If we get a chance, we would love to return in the fall as I'm sure the foliage is beautiful.

This property was just as described. We loved the farm-like setting. There were roosters and chickens out roaming to greet us when we arrived in the early evening. The set up the of the apartment is open, spacious, and light-filled.!The owners were wonderfully accommodating. They left fresh eggs in the refrigerator for us. They answered messages we sent them within minutes. We were definitely stay here when we visit Green Lakes State Park again.

Disappointing experience
The ad is misleading. The lodge is an apartment over a garage adjacent to a residence. There was no lighting to get to the door upon returning from dinner, nor any curtains on the large windows in the general living area. There were a couple of positives. The owner was responsive to questions before our arrival, and the interior was clean. Overall, we will not likely return to this location

Chirs messaged us asking for the address and how to checkin. Even though we granted him access to that info once he booked we kindly provided it to him via the app immediately upon request. He also stated they will be arriving at 2pm even though checkin is at 3. The listing clearly states it is a full hose minus the two car garage, which is a separate entrance and not accessible from the lodge. The listing also states that we live right next door, if you need anything. They are two separate homes on 23 acres of land 800 feet off the main road. We are very secluded. As for lighting. There is a motion light on the front of the lodge and seven walkway lights down the side of the lodge, and another motion light at the entry door. As you can see in the photos almost all of the backside of the second floor of the house is glass that looks over our enormous secluded back yard. This is an allure due to the amazing sunrises our guests experience. Our home is to the North and not in view of the lodge Please make sure to read our other, reviews, listing in full, and look at all the photos before booking. You wont be disappointed if you do so and decide to book with us.

The hosts provided eggs for breakfast from the chickens on the property was a very nice touch. Everything was clean and ready for us when we arrived. The driveway wasn't well marked so that we could find it a little easier. Overall, the property was very good. One thing hosts should know- the love seat in the living room bottoms out when you sit in it. All minor things, but an overall great stay!

Thank you so much for staying at our lodge. We are sorry that you had a hard time finding the driveway. We wish you would have called us so we could direct you in. We also have the street number on both sides of the mailbox at the road. Guess we need to supersize them. :-) Out of the hundreds of people that have stayed you are the first to mention that the pull out couch bottoms out. Though, we just spent three days there to celebrate our 28th anniversary and did not notice it. Then again, we weren't looking for it specifically. We will look into it ASAP. My husband and I stayed for 5 days on a fishing trip. The house is clean and comfortable, beautiful views of sunrises. Easy spot for in and out with our boat and conveniently located for aces to several of the lakes. The rooster would serenade us in the morning but it was not bothersome at all. Matt and Kristy are very welcoming and kind, always around if you need them but give you your privacy. We would definitely stay again. On a side note: the price listed is for single occupancy, additional people are additional costs per person per night.

Graduation Weekend

Romantic Getaway
My wife and I needed a romantic weekend getaway. Our stay here was PERFECT! All the comforts from home. Cooking was a breeze and the cottage was stocked with utensils, pots and pans. Watched a little Netflix and Hulu on the flatscreen tv equipped with Roku. The 2 person jacuzzi in the bedroom was peaceful and relaxing along with the warm and toasty electric fireplace. The layout of the living room was open with a beautiful country view! Thank you for a wonderful stay:)
