Unforgettable stay
The reviews that we've read here weren't exaggerated: this place is amazing. It's as idyllic as it appears on the pictures and we felt at home immediately. Lisa and Joel are friendly and inspiring people, they find the right mix between getting acquainted and offering you privacy and they gave great tips that we hadn't heard anywhere else. And apart from that you're also close to a lot of beautiful places of the island (both beaches and hiking areas). If we'll go back to Curaçao, we would definitely love to to stay here again!

Sol Patch; gastvrijheid op een prachtige plek
Naast het woonhuis is een apart guesthouse. Smaakvol ingericht, met een goed bed, airco en goed sanitair. Er is een mooie schaduwrijke tuin, voor Curacao bijzonder. Het dek aan het water is in de zon en geeft een prachtig uitzicht op de kust en de zee. Vogels en zelfs dolfijnen hebben we gezien. Prachtige zonsondergangen. Een heerlijk verblijf op het mooie eiland! Zeer gastvrij!

Perfect spot for 2
Our stay was wonderful. Joel and Lisa are wonderful hosts who were happy to accommodate any requests we had. Their place is located in a perfect spot on the western part of the island, which in our opinion, is the best part of Curacao. We had easy access steps right into the water, a comfortable bed, a mini outdoor kitchen that had everything we needed and even fresh aloe was offered for our sun burns! They also have a secret connection to a neighbor friend who will make you the best dumplings you’ve ever had and deliver them to your door. It was really perfect.

My wife and I had an amazing time. Property was even more beautiful than we had dreamed. Very easy to relax on the property and soak up the incredible views. 2 beach’s within walking distance with many more just a short drive away. Beautiful and Cozy
Beautiful and cozy place to stay. The outdoor space was perfect for cooking and dining. Absolutely loved the deck space. We spent most of our time there relaxing, watching the ocean and drinking coffee in the morning. Swimming off the steps was beautiful and the visibility was amazing. The place is centrally located near the beaches and restaurants. What makes the place so special is Joel and Lisa who live there too. They are absolutely wonderful people. Very helpful with questions and suggestion for restaurants and site seeing. There two little dogs are super sweet we enjoyed their company too. We went diving with at Bahia the local dive shop. Wonderful people to work with. We had an amazing time in Curacao and will be returning and staying here again.

Sol Patch Lagun
My husband and I had such a lovely time in Lagun, and Sol Patch was the perfect place to stay- in a quiet location, but close to the beach and restaurant. Lisa and Joel were the perfect hosts, and gave us lots of advice on places to go that we wouldn’t have otherwise have discovered. It would have been easy to spend the days sitting on the deck, and snorkelling off the steps. We wish we’d had longer. Thankyou Lisa and Joel for sharing your beautiful space .

Special Place, Special People
My husband and I had a wonderful time at Lisa and Joel's. The location can't be beat. We were looking for a quiet, laid back week away from home. We spent a lot of time on the deck looking out over the ocean, and it was so easy to walk down the steps to hop into the ocean for a swim as well. It's walkable to two beaches, a couple of restaurants, hiking trails...and many more within a short drive. The property and location alone is spectacular, but Lisa and Joel are truly what makes this place special. One of the major highlights of our trip was sharing a meal with them. So kind and welcoming, they were eager to share their knowledge of their beautiful island. Thank you so much for a wonderful week away from home.

Incredible Stay
We had an incredible time on our first trip to Curacao. I am so glad we booked our stay at Sol Patch Lagun. Joel & Lisa were wonderful hosts and provided a wealth of information for our stay on the island. It was so enjoyable visiting with our hosts and learning so much about them and their love of the area. Our room at Sol Patch exceeded our expectations with so many creative touches and beautiful details. The gardens and decks were absolutely stunning. We loved watching the sunset from the deck and used the swinging bed for afternoon reading. Incredible snorkeling was just steps away and Playa Jeremi and Playa Lagun were just a short snorkel or walk away. Milo & Huck are the sweetest dogs and we enjoyed their company during our stay. We highly recommend Sol Patch and hope to come back again soon.

Breathtaking view, ultimate relaxation, wonderful hosts
My husband and I had a wonderful time at Lisa and Joel's place. They were lovely hosts, friendly, with lots of recommendations, but also plenty of space and privacy as well. This location is perfect!!! Lagun is perfect town, a beautiful beach and a few great places to eat. From Lagun, it's easy to explore north of island, including hiking to top of Christoffel Mountain, seeing flamingos at Sint Willibordus, swimming with turtles at Playa Piskado. The deck at this rental was an incredible place to begin and end each day. The bed is perfectly relaxing. The stars at night go on forever. And we absolutely made use of those stairs that went right down to the water. It was great to be able to jump right into the water right at the rental. The snorkeling was incredible! Thank you for opening your home to us Lisa and Joel, we look forward to seeing you again!

Great place to unplug
Joel and Lisa were easy to communicate with. This rental is a master suite next to their home and we shared common outdoor space. The suite is well done with enough room to relax but the outdoor space is the real beauty of this rental. The view of the Caribbean was worth the trip alone from their deck and day bed. Although we shared the outdoor space, we saw Joel and Lisa only for short periods of time and when we did they were very helpful sharing their insights to the island. Snorkeling just below the deck was easy and beautiful. We would highly recommend this location for a couple.

We were impressed with the cleanliness of the property and the peacefulness. It was a very comfortable stay. The beauty of the sea in the mornings and evenings were great ways to start and end the day. The internet was a little sketchy while we were there, but it was a vacation to chill so found out we were ok without it. Joel and Lisa were very, very helpful in guiding us to local areas to enjoy. So thankful to have their expertise for the trip. We are so glad we met this wonderful couple and had some awesome conversations.

Truly Magical
What can we say? Our time in Curaçao, in Lagun, and with Joel and Lisa blew us away. The photos do not do this property or ambiance justice - it was a truly unique and magical experience. My friends were convinced from my photos that I was staying. at a luxury resort, but this was even better than that. My partner and I came for a last minute getaway from New York and we’re floored by the hospitality of the island and the charm of Lagun. We loved hanging around the deck in the morning, exploring the local beaches, restaurants, and hiking during the day and dining in or out at night. Joel and Lisa deserve all the 5-star reviews on here - they were incredible hosts, rife with stories from the island, past lives, and travels. We loved our time with them. Pro tips: rent a car, explore the whole island - there is SO much to see and it’s easy to do, get creative with your cooking in the outdoor kitchen, and watch the sky transition from sunset to stars from the back deck.

Relaxing Oasis
My wife and I stayed at Sol Patch Lagun for 3 days, March 2022. What a splendid setting and home! I can't stop thinking about how comfortable and inviting the shared backyard area was, with its cozy "living room," dining area, and deck overlooking the ocean. Lisa and Joel have created an idyllic garden setting for relaxing and enjoying the best of Curaçao. The bedroom is also comfortable and stylish and similarly decorated with artwork from their travels. Lisa and Joel are amazing hosts, and we were delighted to begin to get to know them. Molly and Huck (their dogs) are also so sweet! Two things travelers should be aware of: the bed is very firm! they have a septic system, so you'll be asked to use a bidet spray, and put your toilet paper in a waste can. This was a new adventure for me, but now that I've tried a bidet, I'm hooked! We look forward to visiting Sol Lagun again one day, hopefully in the not-too-distant future.

Great experience. Beautiful property, the best location and absolutely amazing owners. I think it’s the owners, who made our experience great. We loved them and we’ll be back. Beautiful Garden Hide-away on the Water
I would highly recommend this place to any couple looking for a beautiful ocean-front getaway. If you're looking for accommodations on VRBO, you're probably not looking for a bland, drab hotel room, and this place is the polar opposite. The guest room is a studio-type suite with high ceiling and bathroom with an outdoor covered mini-kitchen. We loved the mix of indoor-outdoor space: a nice large private indoor bedroom and bathroom and an expansive covered outdoor dining and lounging space. The entire property has absolutely gorgeous, well cared for plant life. It's worth noting that the property owners also live on site most of the time; they're a wonderful friendly couple who have a great knowledge of the island. At the same time, they're very unobtrusive and offer plenty of privacy. If we return to Curacao, we would definitely consider coming back here!

This quaint suite, superbly decorated, hosted by lifelong globetrotters, was a treat. The outdoor kitchen had everything we needed. The garden and deck were better than any resort or other apartment we have rented. We highly recommend staying here.

Dear Lisa and Joel, thank you so much for the wonderful time we got to spend in your little paradise. We have travelled quite a bit around the world and stayed in all kinds of accommodations, but your „Sol Patch“ is definitely our favourite. We can agree with all the positive comments our predecessors wrote. We love the cosy large room with all souvenirs of your many travels, and the clean and spacious bathroom. We enjoyed every morning and evening sitting on your deck overlooking the sea watching fisher boats, pelicans, the birds in your unique garden (parakeets, hummingbirds, …), amazing sunsets in orange or blue and the stars at night. But what makes the place really special is you, Lisa and Joel. You are such a lovely couple, wonderful hosts and we enjoyed our talks in the evening so much, finding it astonishing how much we had in common. Perfect Stay
This was a perfect stay in every way. The accommodations were very clean and comfortable. We loved being able to walk right outside our spacious room, decorated with mementos from Lisa and Joel's travels, in the morning. We would sit at the large rough hewn wooden table to have our breakfast, gazing out at the blue sea and surrounded by bird song. There was a fridge and outdoor kitchen for our use. The location couldn't have been better, with dive shops, beaches, parks and excellent restaurants all nearby. As if all this weren't enough, Lisa and Joel are special people, who truly care for both the environment and their fellow human beings. They made us feel right at home and gave us lots of good suggestions for things to do. We left with a sense of having made wonderful new friends. Their dog is great too. They deserve all the good reviews they've gotten, which is why we chose Sol Patch in the first place.

Just what we were looking for!
A beautiful home in a beautiful spot. We had big private room with bath and outdoor kitchen, with access to outdoor dining/sitting area and deck over the Caribbean. Lisa and Joel were wonderful hosts and were helpful with suggestions for beaches, snorkel spots, hikes, and places to eat (plenty of which are very nearby, including two snorkel beaches to walk to). We couldn’t have had a nicer stay. There’s plenty to do nearby if you want, and a beautiful place to hang out if you don’t want to do anything.

Having the two of you down here with us really brought home the expression "it's a small world." Part of the joy of opening our home to vacationers is discovering what we have in common and boy did we discover a lot this past week. Very Nice!
This is a great place to stay! Lagun is a nice little town away from the busy part of the island, but not too far away. Nice little beach just around the corner, dive shop nice and close, and the west end is really friendly. Lisa and Joel were super! They helped make this a great vacation for us! Telling us about dive sites, beaches, landhuis', a lot of the history of the island, and so much more. We look forward to coming back.

A grand time was had by all!
It is no surprise to me that this page is laden with 5 star reviews. Lisa and Joel were fantastic hosts- generous with their time, home, suggestions/ideas and kindness. And BONUS, two sweet puppy sidekicks to keep you feeling loved. The room is ideal for all that you my need on an island getaway. It is comfortable for a swim weary body at the end of the day, full of every necessary amenity, and decorated in such a way as to give to a sneak peak into their lives well lived. A sweet little kitchen is around the corner for your morning tea and whatever else you might need to cook up during your stay. (If you're good Lisa may even share some of her fresh herbs with you 🙃) The rest of the property, you ask? Well, I near hesitate to tell you how wonderful it is as you might try to steal my slot for next year. That view. That evening breeze. Those cozy shady coverings. Ahhh, if only I could still be there. It is truly a unique and beautiful experience. You should book it. You'd be a fool not to. PS- from an eco-ethics perspective, if that's your thing, Joel and Lisa are tuned in to what is wasteful purchasing while on the island. You need only inquire! Only aluminium cans (pop, beer etc.) and plastics 1+2 are recyclable. You can keep this in mind while shopping if you'd like to lessen your travel footprint. Have a good time, potential island hoppers!

"A grand time was had by all ... including the owners of this property." What a huge bonus for us when our guests (who become friends) are as warm, lighthearted and interesting as the two of you. It was a joy to come home after work to find you hanging out, loving the place as much as we do. Thank you for being such lovely guests, for treating our home as if it were your own, for loving the dogs and saving your kitchen scraps for the chickens. By the end of 10 days you both felt like dear, old friends. The moment you drove out the driveway we missed you. So anxious to get you back down here, soon!

Doesn’t get any better than this!
We had a lovely time at this seaside retreat! The views were spectacular, the hosts were more than hospitable, and friendly. The accommodations were just lovely. It was close to many lovely beaches! Joel and Lisa shared all of their local insight with us and directed us to the best beaches and restaurants. The deck overlooking the ocean below is priceless.

Perfect vacation. I loved watching the sunsets from the deck overlooking the crystal clear, calm ocean waters. Lisa and Joel were warm, gracious hosts. Great snorkeling along the whole western side of the island. This was our first visit to Curacao buy won't be our last. Mark Anderson

Wonderful stay!
We enjoyed the tranquility of the location, spaciousness of the room, the beautiful terrace, and the great sunsets on the deck. Everything was well taken care of and clean. And although the property is shared it felt like we had the garden all to our selve. We highly recommend this lovely place. We try very hard to respond to the needs of our guests. Some people want to have a glass of wine and chat about the island and local things to do and see. Others, like the two of you, are looking for a complete get-away. We're very pleased that you felt like you had the garden and decks all to yourselves ... that's what we were aiming for! Rustic Hideaway in Curacao
I couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay that at Lisa and Joel's Guesthouse in Lagun. Their house is about 30 minutes up the NW coast from the capital city and the major touristic centers, so its definitely away from the hustle and bustle. The beaches on the NW are beautiful, and you simply can't have a more spectacular view than from the deck on their property, perched about 40 feet over the ocean and looking directly west over the unbroken sea. Everything in the guest house is comfortable and decorated with taste, reflecting both the island and Lisa and Joel's travels overseas. They were very helpful in pointing us in the right direction in terms of places to go and activities to do. There is a small kitchenette and even a bbq for those interested in preparing their own food. The sounds on the morning were of the wind, the birds, and the local roosters crowing. For those wishing to get away from the crowds and explore the natural side of Curaçao, this is the perfect place to stay. I hope to be back!

New apartment with everything you need
Lisa and Joel are the best hosts you could imagine. They gave us our privacy when we needed it and gave us any information with great enthusiasm about whatever was needed. Their place is just beautiful, finished with great detail. It's got air-conditioning, wich we didn't use because there was always a nice breeze flowing threw the house. It's got a fantastic view over the ocean where you can see the best sunsets. All from a lovely porch, where you can jump of off, if you have the guts! (We didn't 😋) The garden has beautiful trees that give well deserved shade. We loved spending time with the two dogs and feeding the chickens. Overall we had a fantastic experience and we would love to stay here again! Thanks you for a wonderful time!

It was a joy to open our home to such warm, positive guests. We would welcome Roy and Pi back with open arms ... as would the dogs who joyously announced their arrival from the beach each afternoon.
