We loved our stay at this picturesque property in Le Bar sur Loup. Perched on a hillside above the town, the home is well furnished with comfortable beds and well a equipped, although small, kitchen. The rustic charm of the house is completely secondary to the outdoor living spaces of this property. The huge covered porch looks over beautifully landscaped grounds and a large pool, out to the surrounding mountains. You can even see the Italian Alps! We spent hours relaxing here, eating homemade pizzas cooked in the wood fired pizza oven, cooling off in the pool and plotting our next adventures. The owners were super responsive to our requests. The multi lingual property manager was a delight to work with and had lots of great suggestions.
We found the home to be perfectly situated between the mountains and the sea. While we love the Cote d'Azur, we don't love all the tourists and congestion. We were so glad we chose to stay a little further away from the scrum, enabling us to enjoy the much more authentic and truly stunning hillside villages in this region. Of course we made the 45 minute drive to Nice and Villefranche but also rode bikes into the adjacent town of Pre du La, and through multiple traffic circles (they are all over the place) to other towns close by: Valbonne, Tourrettes sur Loup, Le Rouret. Hiking in the surrounding area was a real highlight, up to the famous village of Gourdon, and up the Pic de Courmettes with truly stunning views of the Alps and the sea. I don't think a week was quite long enough for all we found to do and discover in this area. We will definitely be coming back!!
