You'll find this cosy 4* chalet just outside the ski resort of Chinaillon, a short drive from the car parks and pistes, and close to shops and restaurants. But you don't really need to use your car every day - the ski bus stops regularly just 100m away, and it’s only one stop to the pistes at Chinaillon.

The views from the chalet are stunning, and are perhaps best enjoyed from the fabulous Scandinavian-style jacuzzi, which has its own terrace.

Accommodation at Chalet des Momes, which sleeps 8, is set over three floors.

There are four spacious bedrooms where quality bed linens, throws and cushions will ensure you get a great night’s sleep.

The first bedroom is on the ground floor, and has its own bathroom. The two bedrooms on the first floor share a bathroom and a separate toilet, and there’s a fourth bedroom on the mezzanine floor, overlooking the living space, which has a separate shower room.

The open plan living area opens onto a spacious furnished terrace - a great place to start the day with breakfast or end it with a hot chocolate or a vin chaud. In the evenings, curl up on the large sofa and catch up on the day with friends. A big picture window means you can enjoy the fabulous views from here, but if you’d like to get a little closer, head outside to the Scandinavian hot tub - just the spot for winding down after an active day in the mountains.

Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the kit room, where you can leave your outdoor gear when you get in after a day on the mountains, and it will be waiting for you, warm and dry, the next day. You can also store your skis and bikes here.

There are plenty of restaurants in Chinaillon but if you’re staying in, the dining table is big enough for everyone and the kitchen has everything you need to cook up a feast - there’s even a fondue set and raclette so that you can enjoy a real taste of the mountains.


ABOUT THE AREA...

It’s only 1.2km from Chalet des Momes to the ski lift, but the ski bus stops just 100m from your door and runs very regularly, so there’s no need to get the car out if you’d prefer not to.

With your Aravis ski pass, you’ve got all the Lake Annecy ski resorts at your disposal - more than 220km of perfect pistes. Kids will love the great sledge run nearby and the start of the cross-country ski piste is close too. Beginners in this sport will love the nearby Evo Nordic Park, which has a circuit featuring a variety of terrains, while boarders will appreciate the Snowpark.

Non-skiers can catch the bus into Chinaillon, go ice-skating in Le Grand Bornand or swimming in La Clusaz, where the heated indoor and outdoor pools are open during the winter and summer seasons. There’s also snowshoeing, sledging, dog-sledding and sleigh rides to choose from!

In the spring and summer, a network of walking and biking trails cover the mountains around Chalet des Momes, and you can pick up a route map for either at the tourist office in Chinaillon - don’t miss the walk to the amazing waterfall just below the chalet.

There’s a fantastic swimming pool complex in Le Grand Bornand, with a restaurant and grassy areas for picnics. But if you’re looking for something a little more challenging, there’s a climbing school, via ferrata routes, a tree-top adventure park, canyoning, white-water rafting and paragliding all nearby.

August sees the international children’s festival - Au Bonheur des Mômes - in Le Grand Bornand - a week of magic shows, circus acts, theatre, games and workshops, with a grand firework finale.

You’re in the heart of Reblochon country, so on your travels don’t forget to pick up some of this delicious cheese from a local farm or market - it’s delicious in a tartiflette!
