The Space:
Brown's Bungalow is a partially remodeled Leadville home built for groups that need room to spread out — and it backs right onto the Mineral Belt Trail.
➔ Main Floor — Roomy kitchen, dining area, and a living room with three couches. The newly renovated master has a king bed and double doors to the backyard.
➔ Main-Floor Bedroom — Off the living room, with a queen bed plus a single.
➔ Upstairs Bedrooms — Two more bedrooms, including a kids' room set up with five single beds. Four bedrooms total, sleeping 8.
➔ Bathrooms — 2.5 baths, including a newly added half bath.
➔ Living Comforts — Wood stove (bring your own firewood), smart TV with DVD player, in-home washer/dryer.
➔ Outside — Fenced backyard with table, seating, mountain views, and a charcoal grill. Parking for up to four cars.
3 PROS:
1. Steps to the Mineral Belt Trail — walk, bike, or Nordic ski from the door
2. A real kids' room with five beds + a fenced dog yard
3. Big kitchen and three living-room couches — the group actually fits
2 CONS:
1. An older Leadville home, partially remodeled — a mix of updated and vintage rooms
2. No A/C — Leadville rarely needs it at 10,152 ft
Guest Access:
You have the entire private home — all four bedrooms, the kitchen and living spaces, the wood stove, laundry, and the fenced backyard. The driveway parks up to four cars.
Before arrival you'll receive an email link to our digital guidebook — it's the only place check-in details live, and it's where pet registration is handled, so please open it before you travel.
The Neighborhood:
Brown's Bungalow sits on West Chestnut Street and backs directly onto the Mineral Belt Trail — an 11.6-mile paved loop for walking, biking, and cross-country skiing straight from the yard. Downtown Leadville is about a five-minute drive or a walkable stroll.
From the door:
- Ski Cooper (15 min) and Copper Mountain (25 min) for lift days; Vail about 47 min
- Turquoise Lake (12 min) for paddling, fishing, and shoreline sunsets
- Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive trailheads (about 26 min) — Colorado's two highest peaks
- Harrison Avenue's restaurants, coffee, museums, and shops for downtown days
Getting Around:
The Mineral Belt Trail is at your back door for car-free days, and downtown is about five minutes away. The driveway fits up to four cars — handy for a group — and in winter the free Lake County shuttle connects to Copper Mountain. Note that keeping a winter parking space clear can take some shoveling on a snowy block.
Other Things to Note:

Pets: welcome (up to 2 dogs) — a pet fee applies, registered through the guidebook link. Please clean up after your dog in the fenced yard.
No A/C. Elevation is 10,152 ft — hydrate on day one; altitude sickness is real and not refundable.
Wood stove: you're welcome to use it, but firewood is not provided — bring your own.
This is an older Leadville home, partially remodeled. Parking fits up to four cars; in winter, keeping a space clear can take some shoveling.
After heavy snow, watch for snow-removal signs on street parking.
Interaction with Guests:
We're locals and a text away — typical response under an hour, and guests regularly note our team dropping off supplies and keeping the walkway clear of snow. Check-in is self-service; we'll confirm you're settled, then leave you to your trip.
