'We stopped in Puntarenas on our way back from the west coast to San Juan. Unless you are curious to see all of Costa Rica, there is not much at all in this area. It's a filthy, poor area with little to offer, even though it is so close to the beach. The hotel is kind of old and tired with an unclean looking pool. Food is mediocre at best. We had a suite in the newly build tower, supposedly with a view over the marina. No view unless you stand on the balcony. We asked for a different room but got...

'Dirty place'

'Had an initial mix-up but after that it was a nice stay and Carlos was super helpful and friendly. The beach is close by, the domes are fun and there is wildlife all around with a monkey troupe in the trees above each evening. The nearby bioluminescent bay is a highlight.Thank you!'
