## Emplacement
Close to the famous Chamonix ski resort, renowned for its location at the foot of Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Western Europe, Les Houches is a typical small mountain village. Capital of alpinism, Chamonix and its region are much more than just a resort: 10 ski areas make up the valley, and many activities are offered in winter and summer (snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, dog-sled rides, a magnificent spa facing Mont Blanc, hiking to high altitude lakes, mountain biking...). Other tourist places are also very popular: the Aiguille du Midi, the starting point for the mythical Vallée Blanche, invites you to a unique experience at 3800m altitude, or the Montenvers Railway, leading to the Mer de Glace. The latter is a 7.5 km long valley of glaciers. Spectacular scenery can be discovered all year round.
