Staff were great, and breakfast was pretty good too! Great location, but I'd only advise if you are fit and able. Lots of stairs and steep roads around. Room was great, bed good and clean. The shared bathroom was ok too. Some noise but nothing some ear plugs couldn't solve. Weather was mid 20s and did not have issues with it at night. Just keep the shutter closed during the day!

The room and bathroom were clean. The staff were friendly but not professional. I asked about the area and restaurants, but they couldn’t answer anything. This hostel is on the street where there are restaurants and bars, so it’s so noisy until late night.

My towel was very wet and only one change in a week because I asked them. In.second the 1st of juanary no one breakfast in the morning ( 9h15 ). No one service for cleaning in my room during one week.

Buena localización en pleno bairro alto, con el metro y el tranvía n°28 cerca. El desayuno está muy bien y el servicio también, muy amables. A mí, por lo menos, me ha gustado mucho.

Clean and friendly hostel
Cleanliness: 100% The cleanliness at the hostel is excellent. However, the breakfast is very limited. Instead of a buffet, two staff members will prepare a breakfast plate for you; that’s it. It’s important not to set high expectations for the breakfast. It would be great if there were closets in the rooms to store bags and hang clothes. Overall, a clean and well-maintained hostel, though improvements in the breakfast offering and room amenities like closets would be appreciated.

Fabulous! Location was bang on, walked out at night right into the hottest spot in town. The team are Irish/American and all so friendly. The breakfast was next level, really big portions and great variety made to order. Free coffee machine all day and shared kitchen space. Only downside was not enough furniture/storage space in the room but amazing value. Highly recommend

Great location to walk everywhere. It was my first time staying in a hostel/guesthouse and I was pleasantly surprised. It is very noisy at night, however, once I closed the window and turned on the fan, it did not bother me. Very nice breakfast is available in he mornings with coffee/tea machine and water. I was worried about sharing a bathroom, but they were clean and they were always open, I never had to wait.

Todella viihtyisä & siisti hostelli
Hostellissa ei ole hissiä ja huoneet kolmannessa- ja neljänness kerroksessa, mutta toisaalta jos se on ongelma niin melkein kannattaa jättää koko Lissabon väliin, missä saa portaita ja mäkiä nousta todella paljon. Hintaan kuului aivan täydellinen aamupala, mikä valmistettiin henkilökunnan keittiössä. Huone siisti ja ainakaan talon toiselle puolelle(toinen puoli baarikadun puolella) ei kuulunut häiritsevää meteliä. Äänieristykset on olemattomat itse hostellissa.

Excelente localização e custo benefício
É a terceira vez que fico no Hostel. A acomodação fica no coração do Bairro Alto, sendo possível fazer muita coisa a pé, como ir à Praça do Comercio Etc. A limpeza é espetacular e o café da manhã extraordinário. A Roberta é a gerente, uma brasileira muito gente boníssima. Recomendo

Great spot! The breakfast is so good. No a/c though so the rooms are hot. They do give you a little fan but you have to angle it to hit you directly to be comfortable. Bathrooms are clean! Lots of stairs though.

I had a wonderful time at Friendly Hills! The team that is managing the hostel is amazing - the tasty breakfast is freshly served every morning by the lovely volunteers who are also keeping the vibe of the hostel up so that everyone can have the most enjoyable time in a truly "friendly" atmosphere. The solo rooms are quite small but still ok for their price and it can get very noisy if you have your window open during the nights because of the lively nightlife at the street - especially from Thursday to Saturday. But with that also comes the immaculate location of the hostel - centered in Bairro Alto with its many bars, restaurants, clubs, etc. and in walking distance to all major sights in the city and the riverside from where you can easily take the boat or the train to the beaches around Lisbon. I'll be happy to visit Friendly Hills again another time!

The breakfast was fantastic, don't miss it like I did until my last day. The place is spotlessly clean. Convenient location, plenty of restaurants etc in the vicinity and close to all public transport. The room was a bit stuffy even with the fan provided. Overall a great stay, would definitely stay again.

Only come here if you want to party! The street and area is a huge party area. Bass will be thumping well into the night! It's safe, on a hill, and the staff were nice. Pretty comfortable beds, clean linens, and great staff. The breakfast is nice to have.

Auberge très bien située au coeur de Bairro Alto
Hôtel très bien situé au coeur de Bairro Alto. Excellent resto de Fado direct en face de l'hôtel. Petit déjeuner le matin complet offert par l'hôtel. Café + thé à volonté offert gratuitement (machine automatique) Par contre, il n'y a pas d'Insonorisation, et compte tenu du nombre de chambre, c'est assez bruyant! Si cela ne vous dérange pas, je recommande. Si vous avez une voiture, vous ne pourrez pas vous stationner en face de l'hôtel, il s'agit d'une zone restreinte. Vous allez devoir trouver un parking payant à l'extérieur du quartier (bonne chance!)

Prima: freundliches Persomal, liebevoll zubereitetes Frühstück, es geht hier nach Reihenfolge (wer zuerst da ist erhält angerichteten Teller ect), Kaffeevollautomat mit vielen Optionen, Aufbewahrungsmöglichkeit für Gepäck, unkompliziertes Ein/Auschecken. Kein Aufzug! Enge Tür, zum Teil laute Umgebung (Partyviertel), Mitbewohner trampeln.

Très bonne expérience !
Très bon séjour en pleins coeur du quartier Bairro Alto. Un très bon accueil, un bon personnel, très bon petit déjeuner bien complet. Tout est très propre, chambre sympathique ainsi que les salles de bains communes. Seul bémol, l'isolation phonique laisse à désirer. Sinon très bonne expérience !

Great breakfast & Location!
I arrived in the dark and it was a little hard to find because there is no obvious signage. I had to ask for help at a local restaurant. Also - Ubers cannot access the streets around the hostel so you might have to walk and it’s challenging with cobbled streets and luggage. The location is great and breakfast is fantastic. I had a private room but it was hard to relax or sleep in because the cleaning staff were VERY loud. The other guests were older and kept to themselves. Overall good value.

Boa experiência, bem localizado no Bairro Alto de Lisboa, próximo aos diversos bares, restaurantes e lojas da região. Fácil acesso à pé a vários locais de Lisboa. A equipe fala somente o inglês, apenas algumas moças da limpeza falam o português. O café da manhã é incluído e é uma delícia. O quarto estava limpo e os banheiros eram limpos também. Atente-se que o prédio não possui elevadores. Logo, quem vem com malas grandes ou pesadas podem ter problemas. O Wi-Fi no meu quarto privativo (3º andar) não funcionava direito, vivia caindo.

Bring earplugs! The property was well maintained and had very friendly staff in a convenient area. However, it is situated on a very lively road and the rooms are not well insulated from the sound outside (or the sounds inside the hostel). Along with this our room was in the main hall so we could hear guests entering and exiting the hostel during the night as well as breakfast being prepared in the morning.
