Super vriendelijk ontvangst Nette kamer, heel goed ontbijt met de goede zorgen van mama Ideaal verblijf dicht bij openbaar vervoer en restaurants Het hotel is zeker een aanrader!

We hebben een fantastisch verblijf gehad. Fijne locatie, je loopt zo het plein Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara op met een fantastisch uitzicht. In de buurt zijn veel lekkere restaurants en bars te vinden. Het personeel is erg vriendelijk en de kamer was netjes. Het gebouw is oud maar heeft veel sfeer en is mooi gedecoreerd.

Heel vriendelijk onthaal. prachtig mooi hotel en zeer goed gelegen heel goed ontbijt geserveerd door Mama. Als ik terug naar Lissabon gaat neem ik beslist terug dit hotel. Prima service!

Proper hostel maar erg remoerig
Het was een proper en mooi gebouw. Maar als solo traveller raad ik het niet aan. Weinig plaats om andere solo travellers te ontmoeten. In de kamer is er erg veel lawaai van het restaurant en de bar. Dus oordoppen is een must. Alles was wel proper.

Fijn hotel, heerlijk eten, mooie locatie, vriendelijke personeel, prachtig uitzicht over de stad, schone kamers, hippe inrichting. Heerlijke tijd gehad in Lissabon.

The good: This hostel has preserved some of the grand architectural details from its former life, lending it a lot of charm. The included breakfast was good. The staff were nice, and it was clean. The small plaza across the street from the hostel has gorgeous views of Lisbon. For the less-good: I was in a dorm room, and they really ought to add privacy curtains to the bunks. When you have 8 people coming and going, a curtain really makes it more private and cuts down on the light pollution. Also, I arrived quite early in the morning, and while they were able to stow my luggage, they wouldn’t allow me to use the shower until after check-in. Guys, it’s a communal shower accessed from the hallway - I wouldn’t have to go into anyone’s room, I wouldn’t be creating extra work for anyone, I’m staying at yourhostel for several days, you have my ID and credit card… just let me wash the plane grease off, ok? What’s the issue?

Welcoming, clean, great vibes, location, transportation easy. Party district. Bunk/shared room = coming and going at ALL hours. Take earplugs and eyemask a lock to secure posessions in an ample drawer (that fit all my carry on and personal things) Nice cozy spaces to journal. Spotty wifi, but free. Showers are ok, but cold fast! Wonderful breakfast included. 8-11am

Bel hôtel très bien situé.
Emplacement idéal pour ce bel hôtel à la décoration vintage.Un très bon accueil,les chambres d une très grande propreté,la literie parfaite,le petit déjeuner excellent parfaitement orchestré par la grande Diva Lourdes et sa bonne humeur communicative.Nous avons testé le restaurant les plats sont divins.Nous avons passé 4nuits sympathiques de surcroît surclassés en suite…….Nous reviendrons…..Attention idéalement situé veut forcément dire environnement bruyant….c est Lisbonne et c est la fête…..

Sehr gutes Hotel mit leckerem Frühstück und ausgezeichnetem Personal. Der Ort ist mega central, muss man aber etwas aufwärts laufen. Die Strasse ist ziemlich laut aber mit den Fenstern zu ist es nicht schlimm :)

I was already excited for Lisbon because I really enjoyed it the brief moment I was there in February. I would’ve never thought just how amazing my time here would be. I owe a lot of that to the hostel staff here, who was friendly, welcoming, and great conversationalists. They were there to answer all questions, have a quick chat, and be a familiar face to talk to. On top of that, this was simply one of the most beautiful hostels I’ve been to in my one month vacation throughout Europe. The views were amazing from Bairro Alto, the decoration was carefully curated and thought out, and the lobby was breathtaking. My only qualms were small things, and they were already working on it, which was just a brief issue with the door to my floor, and whether or not there was going to be a light for the room. They were receptive to my concerns and transparent about working to fix the problems. All in all, this was my favorite hostel, and I’d recommend this place to friends in a heartbeat.

Mixed feelings
I have mixed feelings about this hostel. I really love where it is located. There is a large square in front of the hostel with a beautiful view over Lisbon and a nice pizza place close by. The employees are very friendly and helpful and I liked the building in general. The breakfast is okay for being included in the price and the staff is very friendly. What I did not like is, that there is no Wi-Fi in private rooms, that my room was a little dark (there was no ceiling light), everything in the bathroom is a little small and most important: the space between the bed and the wall was quite dirty. I also thought I could visit the rooftop terrace at any time and did not know that it is part of a restaurant and I have to order something in order to stay there.

We liked the location of this hotel but if you have a car, parking can be an issue. If you look hard enough u can find free parking. We were put in a musty room with a ceiling literally leaking water on our stuff and the staff clearly didnt care. They did move our room, but despite us staying several nights at their hotel, they never had the manager get in touch with us nor dod they offer an upgrade. We probably won't stay here again.

Come for hostel experience!
The welcome drink was so refreshing and people who you meet during happy hour are quite friendly. This hostel host seniors and young children to my surprise! The restaurant food is excellent! And reasonably priced! Stayed 3 nights and the private suites are better because of privacy and noise. Highly recommended experience!

Sehr schönes Hotel und Zimmer (Suite), mit wunderbarer Dachterasse und guten Speisen. Der große Platz vor dem Hotel ist sehr schön (u.a.mit LiveMusik sowie schönem Blick auf die Innenstadt inkl. Sonnenaufgang). „Leider“ ist dieser Platz bei jungen Leuten sehr beliebt (nachts sehr laut). Wir mussten daher die Fenster nachts schließen.

Artsy hotel in great location
Loved the overall ambiance and attention to design detail. It’s fabulous from an artistic standpoint and the location was perfect. There were a couple of not so great things however: there was mold in the shower, the restaurant floor was filthy and the service staff for breakfast were bordering rude. The reception and bellhop staff were terrific! Overall a 4 out of 5 stars.

Just back from a week at the Independente and what a beautiful place to stay. From the moment we arrived we were treated with a friendliness and warmth sadly missing in a lot of hotels. The hotel is divided between suites, and a hostel. We stayed in a basic suite, which was clean, comfortable and a perfect base to explore the city from. A breakfast buffet is served every morning with a choice of hot and cold food and the hotel has two restaurants if you want an evening meal. One of the restaurants (The Insolito located on the roof) has a stunning view across some of the older parts of the city and the riverTagus. The city centre is only a short walk from the hotel. It's a hilly place so if you prefer public transport there's a tram stop pretty much outside the front door One thing I've seen a lot of reviews mention is the level of street noise in the area. Yes it is very noisy, but it's hardly the hotels fault. Lisbon,and in particular Bairro Alto where the hotel is located, is a lively place, (particularly at night) and my advice would be to either go with the flow or invest in a good pair of earplugs. I can't recommend the Independente enough, it's a quirky place, reminiscent of a Wes Anderson film set, and we loved it. Muito obrigado Independente.
