Dramatische klasse voor een Ritz Carlton
Dit hotel is absoluut geen 5 sterren waardig. En het biedt absoluut niet wat je van het Ritz mag verwachten. De kamer werd een keer niet schoon gemaakt, gewoon vergeten of geen organisatie, kortom dramatisch. Voorts moet je om bepaalde zaken 3 keer vragen voor het wordt geregeld. Wil je golfen dan moet je er rekening mee houden dat members voorgaan en er dus geen gelegenheid is, dit wordt nergens vermeld op de site. Bovendien zijn de greens in zeer slechte staat, het gras is bruin waarschijnlijk door een bacteriele ziekte, maar daardoor hobbelig en dus niet echt prettig spelen, hoewel de baan op zich mooi is gelegen. Kortom geen Ritz klasse en prijs kwaliteit is ver te zoeken.

We liked the beautiful area around the hotel with golf course and forest. The hotel has multiple good restaurants and is not far from Sintra. We got also some good tips for Sintra from Maria from the reception.

Mooi resort om te ontspannen
-Heel mooi resort om te rust te komen. -Goed onderhouden resort en zeer goede restaurants. -Zeer comfortabele bedden bij het zwembad. -Zeer uitgebreid / fantastisch ontbijt. -Mooie grote buiten en binnenspeelplaats met veel voorzieningen voor de kinderen. -Comfortabele grote bedden en mooie badkamer -sommig personeel is wat te overbezorgd en bang om fouten te maken. Dagelijks bellen of alles naar tevredenheid is een beetje teveel van het goede. Iets minder zou bijdrage aan een relaxtere sfeer. Toen we een 2e herinnering voor een kinderbed doorgaven, was er lichtelijk paniek. -prijzen minibar zijn buiten proporties en niet van deze tijd. Het mag wel iets meer kosten, maar 6 EUR voor een blikje cola kan echt niet...

Good choice
Very good hotel and services. Always a good choice. Only negative: Prices for food and beverage (incl. seperate restaurant) are unfortunately on the (too) high side, no alternatives. Very quit location, marvellous surroundings and friendly staff.

Wonderful Stay
Our stay at the Penha Longa exceeded all expectations. From the beginning to the end. On arrival we were met with some of the most friendly and helpful staff. Everyone went above and beyond to please and to make the stay great. The hotel is nestled on a beautiful golf course. Lots of great restaurants and a superb free breakfast every morning. Star in every department was great. There was no language barrier. I would certainly return to this property. We had a wonderful vacation.

A true five star hotel
Our stay at Penha Longa was absolutely lovely. The service and the hotel were top to the finest details. We enjoyed our holiday with our toddler and never felt this welcomed. It really warmed our hearts to see how everyone paid attention to our little one. The hotel is located in such a beautiful venue and there was plenty of activities to do, our favorites were the spa and buggy rides. We will definitely return!

The room was nice and clean, good temperature. I love how spacious the room was, well distributed, with mirrors, a balcony overlooking the garden and the mountain. We had access to juice, sodas and water in the refrigerator. The staff was very friendly. They brought our luggage up to the room.

There was construction everywhere, loud noises, hallway had a strong scent that smelt horrible, housekeeping walked in while we were still sleeping, they overcharged us for golf by $300 when I booked it it said $220 and they charged us $507 upon arrival.

Dear Penha Longa, I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with my recent stay at your hotel. While I had chosen to stay at your 5-star hotel to celebrate my child's 10th birthday, I was disappointed that nothing special was done to mark the occasion, despite assurances from your staff. Moreover, when I requested a golf cart, it was malfunctioning, adding to our frustration and inconvenience during our stay. Additionally, one evening, a staff member almost entered our bedroom without our permission, asking if we needed towels. This was completely inappropriate and left us feeling violated and that our privacy had been disturbed. Furthermore, I was also disappointed with the construction work that was going on during my stay. The loud and disturbing sounds from the construction site on the first floor woke us up at 8 in the morning, which was very disruptive to our stay. While I understand that construction work may be necessary, it is unacceptable for guests to be subjected to such noise disturbances, and measures should be in place to ensure guests' comfort. Overall, my experience at Penha Longa Sintra Portugal was far from satisfactory, and I hope that you take note of these issues and take the necessary steps to ensure that guests' expectations are met in the future. I stayed at Penha Longa 10 years ago and when I decided to visit Portugal, I selected this resort again and I wasn't disappointed. If I could bottle the level of service I received and take it with me everywhere I go, I would. The property is still well maintained, the dining experience from breakfast to dinner was superb. The Spa was awesome also. I highly recommend this resort and would give a higher score than 5 if I could.

The staff deserve special recognition at this hotel. Anytime my wife and I needed anything, they were willing and enthusiastic to help. Rooms were clean and nice, the restaurants on the property are excellent, and the property is beautiful. My only complaint is that we played a round of golf while we were there, and were charged the full, normal rate during off season, on a course that was far from optimal condition. Most places have winter rates that are about half of the main season rates, and although the course was fun and challenging, I feel as though I overpaid for the round. No difference between fairways and rough, grass was 5” long on the fairway in many places. Lost several balls in the fairway. We were warned that the course wasn’t in peak condition, but I feel the price should have reflected that. Other than that small issue, this place was incredible! Again, the staff was super accommodating. The breakfast that this hotel puts on is the best I’ve seen in Portugal; phenomenal. If you choose to come stay here in the off season as we did, you will enjoy less people at the hotel and smaller crowds at the beautiful sites in the area as well.

Great facilities, rooms and ambience - however, some services like breakfast room was not up to standards… Seemed to be post-pandemic hiccups and still way better than all other resorts we’ve visited recently… Would go again!

A truly disappointing stay at a wonderful location
Thé hôtel had overbooked and did not have rooms available for the first of my five night stay. The following day no rooms were available until mid afternoon and when a manager intervened the room made available was obviously a rushed job and lacked amenities and essential toiletries one would expect of a 5* hotel. The admin staff appeared untrained. When I checked out they did not not have records of my Experian prepayment until a manager was summoned.

Firstly they moved us for our first night (of 5) they said because of covid, it was a lie we found they were overbooked. We then agreed to move to the hotel at 10am providing our room was ready on arrival we were told the room would be ready at 3pm. We got the duty manager and she got us a room in 10 mins. She was excellent. One day the room was not serviced, and for three days tea and coffee not replaced. The duty manager again was very helpful. All the staff were great, but obviously he top management are really not very good. On Monday we were looking to have dinner in one of the 3 star Michelin restaurants, but surprise surprise all are closed on a Monday, surely you would stagger closures, but no. Main dining room was fully booked until 9:30pm. But was not on looking in a few times. So we had to eat in the bar.

A perfect place in a beautiful area
Last year I was able to discover Sintra. We had the opportunity to come again for a conference in the region at this place. This hotel offers everything you need if you want to relax, enjoy and in a quiet area. We will definitely come back with the kids to enjoy all together !

The property was surrounded by beautiful tree and golf course. It was a just a short drive away from Lisbon, Cascais, and the main town of Sintra. It was quiet and relaxing area. The staff was helpful and friendly. We also loved hanging out at the gin bar. Federico was so nice and made an excellent drink suggestion when I was unsure what to order.

Good but could be better.
This hotel is a Ritz Carlton. It is a beautiful property but for the most part they are great BUT I feel for a Ritz brand they could be better! Our room carpet is dirty with a wine stain or something. Make note that electric bike is NOT free. We didn't remember they mention the rental cost so we were a little shocked that it was 18 euro per bike. For a 5 star hotel I think bike should be free of charge since it is just for exploring the hotel property and cant be use to go outside anyway. but overall good stay.

Disappointing
Although the location is stunning, there are a lot of issues with this resort which made our stay quite disappointing. We were planning a few days of relaxing, my husband would play golf and i would use their pools and other facilities, and then we would go to their michelin restaurant for his birthday. The pools were cold and not usable, the running "trails" were just the road around the resort you share with the cars, and on check in we discovered most of the restaurants would remain closed for our stay and were told to book straight away as everything would be full otherwise. Nowhere on the website or during the booking process is it advertised that the pools and restaurants are seasonal but this is the case. Breakfast was a bit of a disaster, we were put next to the coffee station which was really loud and chaotic with staff making coffees around us. And got coffee pod machine coffee which is hardly 5 star. The food was very slow and not good when it arrived. We didnt bother to go down for the remaining days. I have to say that the staff here were all really friendly and tried their best despite the underlying problems of the systems they were working with. When we complained they were most understanding, we received an upgrade and a bottle of wine on the birthday which was much appreciated. Despite this the overall experience was really disappointing.
