Thank you for a positive review. As for the issues, the mattresses are all regular IKEA ones, very common, and are changed every few years. The maintenance by the water company is very rare, 2-3 times a year and never after working hours. The pool heater was discovered not to be working on a sunday and a new one installed on monday. The last one one lasted13 years, hopefully this one too.

Regarding the coffee maker, which is 1 year old, it is a regular domestic one, a cafetaria sized one is just not practical in the house. Regarding the furniture, most pieces have been replaced over the years and are 1 to 5 years old with the exception of a few pieces which are original but well maintained and serve their purpose well. Regarding the outside table it was found to have loose legs due to it being dragged around on uneven ground away from its regular place. The suggestion of a swing is a good one but unfortunately one must limit the number of objects which might cause injury.

The issues you have mentioned have been completely inexistant to all the guests before you in the last 15 years as attested by the hundreds of very positive reviews written in the house guest book. In all this time never was any smell of beds mentioned, even slightly, much less horrific, dogs that do not let you sleep at night or major problem with mosquitoes. There are no more or less mosquitos than in the Lisbon area, which is very little since it is a dry climate and which can easily be solved by using a plugin anti-mosquito device for a couple of hours. Still, every place has its own particularities which, when different from our own house, take some time to get used to and I understand that we cannot always fully please everyone even though we try our best.

Thank you for the 4 stars rating. Regarding the bathrooms, they were all re-tiled 3 years ago and their furniture was kept bright and simple, on purpose, to facilitate cleaning and maintenance. A house that receives 200 persons per year is quite different from a family home. As for the shower curtains I checked them after this review waiting to find one which was ripped, highly discolored or with mold but I found nothing... sorry. Nevertheless, they are often replaced since they are quite inexpensive. Regarding the pool chlorine it is the first time we have had this complaint and while it is measured every week, the reason that I see, that it can change suddenly has to do with the amount of time that the pool cover is over the pool. Since chlorine evaporates rapidly if the pool is always left uncovered then the chlorine level will fall within one day and on the contrary if it is always kept covered the chlorine level will rise, if the treatment is done for an uncovered pool which happens during the summer. We have no control of how guests leave the pool cover during the week even though it is adviced to keep it covered. Nevertheless, once reported the gardener tried to fix it right away. Regarding the dishwasher I believe that all brands require the dishes to be pre-washed since they do not actually scrub the dishes but simply spray water. There are instructions in the house booklet alerting to this.
