This was our second stay at Hydrangea Cottage and our first during the summer season. The cottage itself is very clean, uncluttered, and yet well-equipped. It served our party of six (three generations from age 9-68) very comfortably for the week, and quite frankly we could have stayed longer. The local neighborhood was great for walks, morning runs, and bike rides for the kids. A rainy day allowed us to take advantage of the puzzles and books at the house. A built-in desk was handy for a few ongoing work calls. We cooked nearly every meal at the house over the course of the week (all with local produce and meat from the farm store a quick walk from the house or other nearby farms), supplemented just with a pastry run at Tiverton, seafood at Bristol, and blackberries from the yard! The cottage is in a quiet location about a 15 minute walk from the town beach, which we went to at least once a day through the week, weather permitting. The beach is family-friendly and perfect for boogey boarding and surfing lessons, and while it can get crowded in peak season, walking further down to the adjacent Goosewing Beach (part of the nature preserve) will thin the crowd completely. It’s also a great starting point for a day trip to Newport, the excellent bike trail between Bristol and Providence, nature trails, birdwatching at nature preserves, and enjoying other points in coastal Massachusetts. Donatella, the owner, was communicative and welcoming. We look forward to returning!
