Amazing Lopez weekend

Great Place to Base for an Island Get-Away
My husband and I and our 11-year-old grandson stayed in this delightful little cabin while we attended a gathering of boaters and bicycled around Lopez Island. We loved the quiet location, the well-appointed living & sleeping spaces, the hot tub, and the blackberry bushes, just ripening in August 😊. I would rent this home again and, in fact, may look to reserve it for a ladies cycling group in the future.

Lovely cabin, pratical and convenient with nice amenities. Very comfortable beds. It might be a good idea to add blinds or curtains to the three large sets of glass doors to afford a bit more privacy.

Really nice cabin, not 2 bedrooms
The cabin is really cute, clean, private/ quiet location. The only downside is that it is listed as 2 bedrooms. They are more like sleeping areas. The entire cabin is one open space and the main bedroom is a bed that is pretty much in the living room. It has 3 walls but the missing wall (and door) is facing the living room. So if anyone were watching TV, or staying up later than you, then you'd have to try to sleep with the lights on and hearing their TV/ conversation noise. Same for the group of 2 bunk beds, they are separated from the other bedroom by a wall, but they are not separated from the kitchen/ living spaces in the house. They open to the living areas with no door. This didn't make a difference for my stay, as it was just me and a friend. But if I were traveling with my kids, or an elderly person who goes to bed early, it would've been problem. If I had a baby with me, I would have been disappointed to not have a door that closes to help eliminate noise from the house, and I basically would have had to turn all the lights off in the home and hang out outside if I wanted to stay up later with the rest of the family. So I just recommend keeping that in mind so you are not disappointed. I didn't use the hot tub. The kitchen was nice and stocked, the outdoor space is great, pretty bathroom. Altogether a great stay. Lopez Island was really pretty and we had a great time hiking, watching sunsets and hanging out in town!

Lopez Island getaway.
The overall experience was wonderful.. We we're looking for a place to decompress for a few days and the cabin was perfect for that. The kitchen is well appointed and the space was open and so comfortable. The Lopez Island community is great. People were all warm and friendly. I gave a three star on the listing accuracy because I specifically wanted a place with a hot tub and, although clean, the hot tub was luke warm at best and it was really hard to get the temperature up. Fortunately the bathtub in the cabin is awesome!! I really wanted a hot tub, though and didn't want to deal with being inundated by repair people.

Relaxing Cabin Getaway
Ingrid is a phenomenal host! We have stayed here twice and are thrilled with our experience each time. The cabin is spacious, has great amenities (hello, hot tub!), and Ingrid is very communicative, helpful, and friendly. We love our escapes to Lopez Island and the cabin is the perfect home base for hikes and great food. We can’t wait to return!

Wonderful relaxation spot
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay on Lopez. We took advantage of lots of walks/hikes throughout the island. The cabin was in a great place for decompressing as well. The hot tub was a special treat. The bed was very comfortable. We also really appreciated the internet access, as cell reception is non-existent in most places on the island. Once we had access we were able to open our GPS so that mapping would work. (If you come without a map of the island, you can get one outside a realtor's office in Lopez Village.) We had great communication with our host, who double-checked to make sure we were able to access the house. We did let her know that the remote controls for the TV/DVD system had dead or missing batteries - but I'm sure they have been replaced by now. We had a wonderful stay.

NOT A 2 BEDROOM
This is a great property, but it is a studio, not a 2 bedroom as listed. It was extremely disappointing to arrive and find that the “2 bedrooms” were actually beds agains one wall of the cabin separated by a half wall. I was not planning to leave a negative review but when I reached out to the owner and requested she change the listing description so other potential guests don’t get confused, but she said that VRBO doesn’t have an option to list this as a “studio”. It does. She said she would look into changing the listing, but it has been five days and she has not updated the listing. This is a cute cabin with a large soaking tub, hot tub, and nice kitchen. I just wish the owner was more upfront about the accommodations.

Greetings Kathleen, VRBO does not have an option for a studio space and this is the first time that someone has been confused and disappointed. I clearly stated in the description of the cabin in the first few sentences as I will post below that it does not have separate bedrooms. I have already reached out to VRBO about this issue and they advised me to have it posted exactly how I do. Again, I am so sorry you were disappointed. “European OPEN style with NO DOORS on sleeping areas. Sleeps two adults and two children. “

Fantastic getaway with hot tub!
I spent 3 nights and 4 days here on Lopez. The place was great! Sitting on the porch at sun set or walking down to the beach were wonderful and the hot tub was fantastic. The town on Lopez is cute with two great stores and a bunch of shops, bakery, cafe etc. About a 8 min drive. I jogged a bunch while there and would recommend a jog or bike ride over to Iceburg Point in the morning or evening for sunset - beautiful! There are neighbors and you can see the road from the place but it still feels secluded. I highly recommend this as a solo 'time out' or family retreat!

Great Location, Great Rental Cabin
My wife and I, along with my adult daughter stayed seven nights at the cabin and had a great time. The cabin is very nicely finished, with a well equipped kitchen, a great outdoor covered area, and a wonderful hot tub. The cabin is conveniently located to great hiking, picnicking, bike riding, and kayaking. We’ll definitely be back!

Lots of little issues
Super small place, but that was not the problem. The gas oven leaked gas and was useless, when brought to the owner, she indicated that is the way it is (which is not true) and the hot tub jets did not all work (I am an engineer and tried every configuration). The mosquitos were also epic, the kids could not go outside without being sprayed.

Relaxing stay on the island!
We had a great time on Lopez Island. We brought our ebikes and rented one in the Village at Village Cycles and spent one whole day riding around. Another day we paddleboarded on the bay (launch is 2 min down the road) and when on a few hikes (Shark Reef and Point Colville). Dinner the first night at Islander Bar and Grill and lunch at APizzaPie food truck the next day and shopped the few quaint shops. We hit the grocery store and made the rest of our meals in the well equipped kitchen. There wasn't a wine opener so we bought one for the kitchen. Bring bug spray. The towel warmer didn't work. The hot tub was clean and relaxing...we used it morning and night. There isn't a door for the master bed which makes it a little unprivate but still cozy. Just know you won't have a door if you normally sleep naked and don't want your teenager to see that...lol. Overall it was a wonderful cabin with a secluded island feel. We would love to stay again. We had a lovely time. Beds were very comfortable and the house was clean. The spa was the best part! The only down sides are, the house is closer to the main road than we thought, no kayaks for the bay(kayak pict. is deceiving), no television(only DVDs) and the water pressure was low.

Thank you for your review. In regards to the kayaks, we took a photo of the beach close by and there are a lot of boats and kayaks that people keep on the beach so to get a good photo that shows up. We do not mention that they are available to guests and there is a local company on the island for rentals. The cabin sits on 2 1/2 acres and is positioned at the back of the acreage off the road just to give you an idea… i do not consider it close to the main road but you can see it through the field. We are on a well so water pressure is not what you would experience on public water but we have never had a complaint before.

Girls trip
My girlfriends and I had a lovely time visiting Lopez Island. The house was clean and tranquil, we loved the hot tub. We visited Shark Reef, Iceberg point, The Islander Restaurant, Brewvado, and a historic church. We spent the next day shopping at friday harbor where we simply parked and walked on the ferry for free. We all loved riding the ferries. Thanks!

comfortable and peaceful, met our needs for a place to stay
....but the hot tub was literally slimy and green with algae. It needs to be emptied, scrubbed, sanitized...yuck. Poor water pressure, couldn't take a bath because hot water just trickles out and is cold by the time it even covers the bathtub floor. No curtains. Very dim lighting in the living room area, had to use our cell phone flash lights to see the buttons on the dvd player. Wish I could say better things.. it could be such a nice place to stay, but we were disappointed.

I am sorry to hear this Rebecca. I ask all my guests to notify me upon arrival or at earliest notice if anything is not up to their standards so that I can address it immediately. Their are no issues with hot water and there is a limitless supply as we have an on demand hot water heater so not sure what happened there. The hot tub maintenance company has been a challenge for us this year with follow through due to staff issues but they are always responsive the day of to fix any issues.

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The kids loved the bunk bed nook because it felt like a secret space. The cabin was plenty warm using the wall heaters alone, so we didn't need the stove. There was an issue with the hot tub so the water was too cold to use it. Luckily, the bathtub was a larger-sized deep soaking tub, so we just pretended it was a hot tub! The heated towel warmer is a nice touch. The Southend Grocery and Restaurant down the road was a well-stocked small grocery store with good lunch and coffee, plus DVDs available for purchase to watch in the cabin.

We had a comfortable stay here! Very convenient location near the South End Market, the house was in good condition and exactly how it was described in the listing. The cabin was pretty private (although a few more curtains or shades over the windows would be nice) the property was quiet and exactly what we were hoping for. Will definitely book here again if taking another trip to Lopez. The owner was very responsive before and during our stay which was very helpful!

So much to like about this property! First, Ingrid was warm, welcoming, and responsive. The location is wonderful - right near the fantastic south end market and the wonderful hike out to iceberg point. The kitchen is well-equipped (whipped together a dinner with ease the night we got there). Cozy indoors - great outdoor sitting for relaxing. We didn't use the hot tub, so I can't speak to that.

The cabin was great for our family of four (2 parents and 2 kids- ages 8 and 11). The location is quiet, peaceful and beautiful. We enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings and sitting in the Adirondack chairs in the mornings for coffee.

The house is very small…that is okay, but the description didn’t detail how small. The sleeping arrangements were merely alcoves, the walls did not go to the ceiling, and all lights were placed way up in the ceiling making it difficult to have different bedtimes. The house was clean at first look, but the floor under the beds was very dusty, dishes were greasy, the kitchen was not neat…almost all dishes, etc. were not gathered or stored in a reasonable way. Supplies to clean were not available. The sofa and the area rug were smelly. The owner actually replaced the sofa on the last day we were there. The porch has a lovely sectional meant for outside use. The hot tub was very pleasant and there is a hookup to warm water on a hose right next to the hot tub—great for rinsing off. On the last day we were there the owner came by and mowed a very overgrown yard. Too bad because we might have used it more. There is no house guidebook with useful information in it, e.g., what to do with recycling, trash in cans or to the local dump, caring for the hot tub, ceiling fans. There was some confusion about the DVD player and the sound system—we just didn’t use it. There was also a legal form that was left in the folder…asking the renter to sign because (I am assuming) the deck was not finished and there was no railing on part of it. Vague, legal verbiage about not being able to sue but demanding it be signed. We did not sign it. There was a cat in the house when we arrived and the cat kept coming back the entire time we were there. Seems it knew a couple of us were allergic. Overall, the house is pleasant. Having space for six people to sleep but demanding that only four stay over is odd until one sees how cramped the sleeping quarters are. A suggestion: more photos so people can make up their minds about the situation ahead of time.

Greetings Mary, I am sorry this was your review. THE LEGAL PAPER you speak of is NOT TO RELEASE OWNERS FROM LIABILITY. If you read the paper it clearly states it RELEASES SAN JUAN COUNTY BUILDING DEPARTMENT from liability and is part of KEEPING OUR VACATION RENTAL PERMIT. Due to the building codes changing every few years this is how they protect themselves. The decks are ALL TO CURRENT BUILDING CODE as we have railings where the deck is over 18" from the ground, the areas it is not we do not have railings on purpose. I spoke with you a few times as did my husband when he came to do the normal lawn maintenance and you had nothing but good things to say. Your only concern was the neighbors cat that somehow sneaked in while the cleaners had the doors open a few hours prior to your arrival. I sent you instructions for hot tub maintenance and there were 2 very large empty garbage cans for your use. When you asked me about garbage service I told you if you needed more than the two cans to let me know and I would schedule a garbage pick up by our maintenance company. As for the size of the cabin and lack of privacy that is spelled out clearly in our listing even the square footage and the fact t it is a “European open style cabin””with the only door being to the bathroom.” That is why we only rent to 2-4 guests. We put in the bunk beds for when we visit and our kids bring friends. We have professional cleaners clean and the only reason we had to replace the sofa is a guest had some sort of lotion on that ate away at the leather and also made a large cut in the seat. You had reached out to me to let me know about the cat and sofa damage and when the sofa arrived for replacement I called to ask if you would like it replaced. I am very confused and disappointed by your review. Wish you the best, Ingrid

Like Lopez itself, pleasantly bucolic
Clean and cozy, this cabin in a meadow was a pleasant place to stay while visiting friends on Lopez. We enjoyed the outdoor spaces and hot tub and were particularly grateful for the ceiling fans indoors as the temperatures jacked up during our stay. One caveat, our friend told us that south Lopez was called ‘mosquito heaven’ and we found that to be true. Bring bug spray and you’ll be fine.

Great! A few things to note…
We really enjoyed our stay at this modern cottage! Great location, beautiful decks and light and airy feel! A few things to note for future travelers: 1. Great internet! I took video calls for work with no problems. No TV streaming device (ie. Roku), and only a handful of DVDs, so be sure to pack some entertainment options with you. 2. Bug spray is a must! Though the days were cool, we experienced a lot of mosquitoes- enough to warrant an extra trip to the store to buy repellent. We think this is due to the garbage/septic area nearby. 3. The queen bed was very comfortable (probably one of the best we’ve had in a rental), but the room itself is tight. 4. Love the high ceilings in the living room! However, couch is well worn with visible rips. It’s also only 1/2 of a sectional. 5. Beach access is a good 10m walk, across a busy road— but we felt safer taking our car.

Perfect little getaway
Great little house for our family of 4. Despite not having actual bedrooms, the layout made it feel very private between the bunk beds and master bed. My boys loved the bunk beds. Awesome deck area, plentiful blackberries around the property, well stocked kitchen and bathroom, lots of storage. My favorite part was the little farm stand at the end of the driveway! Fresh garden veggies and homemade bread for sale daily were perfection. Would gladly stay again!

This property was great for our family of 3. We enjoyed biking to nearby parks, BBQing in the evening, and playing frisbee in the yard. Only downside were the bees came to visit often at meal times so were unable to eat outside. For most meals.

While we enjoyed the property, access information was never received in advance of checkin. Communication with the host was a challenge and as she admits, internet access on Lopez is spotty (even more of a reason to send access information in advance). As a traveller, it is nice to receive access information at least 2 days in advance. Our check in at 4PM was dark and freezing. It took over an hour to get access information and to actually gain admittance to the house.

I did receive their call and answered right away. The problem was they did not know how to use the key code access. For future travelers keep in mind if you have trouble with the keypad you need to clear it and enter the numbers again. Also, check your email as you will receive a few emails from VRBO giving you access to all check in information prior to your arrival.

Had such a wonderful time at Ingrid's property. Very clean and comfortable bed with all the amenities we needed. Spent lots of time on the back porch soaking in the sun and reading. We loved staying at this sweet little place (family of 4 with 2 young kids). It was magical to wake up every morning in our own private meadow with deer cruising by and hawks and eagles soaring above. Would definitely stay again!

This is a great place to get away from hustle of everyday. The property is beautiful and quiet!
Finding the property online was easy with VRBO. The owners were quick to respond and provide information. The kitchen and cook area is excellent, the chef away from home will enjoy. The outside deck and sitting area are great for evenings outside. There is limited privacy to the bedroom if you bring children as the bed areas are very near to each other. GReat bathtub for soaking.

Perfect place to reset
This little home was beautiful, comfortable and we had an amazing time. There are TWO sets of twin bunks (4 twins) plus a Queen size and they do have privacy between bunks and bed. All beds were very comfortable and had very nice pillows. We were grateful there was a small dishwasher and cleaning supplies as we did most of our eating in. We were just about 17 minutes from the downtown area which was a easy and pretty drive. We found out that if you walk onto the ferrys you can island hop for free (as a walk on) so we visited three San Juan islands total! The little house is very bright, open concept and we absolutely loved spending our nights out on the covered deck overlooking the beautiful sunsets. The house had built in speakers, a nice TV and a great kitchen. It was very quiet and felt secluded which was our goal (to get away from the city noise). I would highly recommend this for two couples and or a small family. The photographs don't really do the place justice, the bathroom was really with a small shower, a full size tub, toilet and sink with tile floors. The small home does fill with light pretty early in the morning so be ready to wake up fairly early. Ingrid was super helpful and had very fast responses and even accepted us adding on an additional night day of (due to us MAKING the FERRY)! She was great and if we come back to Lopez we will look into this location again. My only suggestions for improvement (although we didn't find any of these to be problems): -Door knob on bathroom door was near falling off -There weren't any wine glasses -Basic condiments like ketchup/mustard etc. would've been nice but no biggie that we had to buy -The shower curtain is too short so water did splash all over the floor (but thankfully they gave us plenty of towels)

Tranquility at its best!
Beautiful tranquil setting surrounded by nature. We loved the cabin, great design and layout. Lots of little extras like the bathroom towel warmer. Owner was easy to reach and communicated quickly. We loved this gem on Lopez!
