'We had an amazing stay at the hotel! The room was beautiful and the food there was amazing!!'

'Room wasn't great for the cost (was pretty small, but is limited because of the type of building), however the bathroom looked like it had recently been refurbished, and the room was clean. Breakfast was excellent, and the staff were very helpful.'

'Food was exceptionally good with great choice. Staff pleasant and helpful.'

'Staff very welcoming. Food really nice and very filling. Perfect stay for us. Thankyou'

' niet makkelijk te vinden.was nog een heel gedoe.'

'Unique oldish hotel, but lovely'

'The staff'

'What a great hotel. It is quite isolated, but is a little gem. Built in the 1930s, it retains many of its original art deco features and has been well maintained and sympathetically furnished for the period. After storms, we had a short power cut and I almost expected to hear a scream from a maid discovering a crime and Hercule Poirot appearing. The food was reasonable, if not sparkling but we did have a powercut in the middle of dinner and they coped admirably. The staff seemed quite...

'We were walking the Pennine Way and stopped off at Bongate House after reaching Dufton and after walking/backpacking for most of the day. We had a very friendly welcome from Ann who on arrival looked after our every need. Breakfast was ample and tasty. The property suited our needs perfectly. Thank you Ann!'

'Food was good. Luxury room was not luxurious. Very small. Carpets on stairs need seeing to as are a trip hazard. Bar area, windows need a very good clean! Cobwebs and dust must have been there quite a while.'

'A very lovely Victorian house. We had a wonderful stay. Thank you.'

'This is a great place to stay. Excellent service, friendly staff, good breakfast. Very laid back atmosphere Within one hours driving you're in the Lake District, the North Pennines and the Yorkshire Dales '

'The room was gorgeous and Sue is the kindest person. Lots of attention to detail and the little things that make your stay special. One issue was low water pressure in the shower due to a temperamental electric device that runs the shower head.'

'This has to be the craziest room I've ever stayed in, in a good way. The floors were sloped the furniture was sloping in line with the floors. Bed comfy amd bathroom was nice and clean. If you are after a quirky stay then this place is for you.'

'The rooms were clean and comfortable. It's a no-frills visit, so bring what you need. If you're staying in Penrith for the first time, ask for directions to the hotel, because the gps will take you the long way. There is a shortcut to and from the station.'
