Cozy cabin nice location
Stayed with my husband and 9yo. We had a great time fishing, bird watching and making s’mores by the campfire. Recommend this cabin; also found it spacious for my family of 3. I’d love to come back in the warmer months to get in the river! The river water was beautiful. The cabin is well equipped, good layout and clean. The drive to town is easy. We enjoyed Gathering Grounds for breakfast in town and the caverns! Only thing I recommend is to bring towels and believe compact suv or crossover for the road down to the cabin is best; its a bit bumpy and part of the road is slightly steep. Not too bad, but not sure if cars will do well. Cell phone service is decent 1-2 bars for me on att. Overall the cabin is great and recommended!

Spring Break
Spring break at this cabin on the Shenandoah River did not disappoint! It was a peaceful and comfortable setting to enjoy nature on the river - also a good base camp from which to explore Luray and Front Royal. Despite rainy and somewhat cool weather we enjoyed watching all of the different birds - good thing I remembered binoculars, wish I had remembered my bird book! It was interesting to watch the changes to the river as the whole region received a lot of rain. It was really nice to sit in the hot tub on chilly evenings and listen to the river. We will definitely consider staying here again if we are looking for an escape to the mountains/river valley.

Wonderful winter weekend
The cabin was so lovely! We made some fresh pasta and got out a bit to hike and explore the area. The river was beautiful and it was a fun way to get out of the city.

Nice Getaway
We had a great time at Above the River's Edge Cabin. The location is quiet and perfect for relaxing. It's close enough to the park for day hikes and a great option if you're looking to stay near Shenandoah National Park. The cabin was clean and well taken care of.

Anniversary Get Away
We came for our 20th wedding anniversary. We have the best time. The fall colors were beautiful and it was super peaceful. Perfect distance from Luray for dinning and things to do.

Weekend getaway
This place was awesome. It was me and my boyfriends first vacation together and we were so happy to have spent it here at this cabin. Super clean and well organized/decorated. Felt very cozy! We would 100% recommend this place to anyone that is wanting to experience a cozy cabin feel and beautiful mountain scenery. I will say that the road to the cabin is very bumpy, so use an SUV if you can. We took my sedan and it was still safe to use, just would use a larger car to reduce the bumps next time. We will be back in the future for sure! Thank you to the host, Jessica! She was very responsive and helpful. :)

A much-needed respite
Our family of 4 had a wonderful time at the cabin! The proximity to the river let us reconnect with nature and each other before the start of school. The birds, fish, river, and stargazing were just what we needed. It was a cozy space for four of us - parents in the king bedroom, kids in the queen in the loft. More people than this would be a challenge but it worked well for us. Beds were very comfortable and everyone slept well. The location is top notch and Jessica was easy to communicate with. For reference, the canoe mentioned is shared with the sister property - not an issue at all for us, but something to keep in mind if you plan on using it a lot while the sister cabin is occupied. We can't wait to come back!

Relaxing Get Away
The property was very clean. Check in was easy. Great views of the river. We brought our own kayaks & tubes and went fishing every day. There was a little spot in the woods up the road from the house that we could walk to and put our kayaks & tube in and float down to the house. My only complaint is that the house is listed to sleep 5 and they only had 3 forks & 3 bowls in the house. We have 5 people in our family. I had to go to Walmart about 20 minutes away to buy plastic forks & bowls so we would have enough for each meal.

Cabin was in good shape and was exactly what we expected from the pictures and description. 5/5 on everything except cleanliness. Giving it a 4/5 there because we shared the winter weekend with a couple dozen stinkbugs - hardly the worst thing in our opinion but felt it should be noted.

We loved our time at this cabin. Jessica was great at answering our questions before our stay and everything went smoothly. Check in was easy, the place was clean, the bed was comfy. We loved the view of the river, the availability of the grills and hot tub, and the gas fireplace. The dirt/gravel road to get down to the cabin was pretty bumpy and be prepared for no phone service/WiFi. Also consider bringing your own firewood if you have your heart set on using the fire pit as there wasn't much available. But we knew those things ahead of time and planned accordingly. Would definitely consider staying again!

Wonderful Hideaway!
We stayed here for a long weekend. The location is great! Lovely sunrises and beautiful river view. It feels remote, but is still very close to Luray and other amenities. The property managers were very responsive to our needs. No Wi-Fi, but it was a much needed disconnect for all of us (including our preteen). We had everything we needed and enjoyed a peaceful stay before the busy holiday season! Would stay here again!

We hit the VRBO jackpot. We could not have had a better Thanksgiving getaway. The location is perfect for hiking in the Shenandoah mountains as well as visiting Luray Caverns. The kids loved fishing in the river and soaking in the hot tub. This place was the perfect place to unwind, unplug, and spend some quality family time.

We really enjoyed our stay here. My sister and husband had always wanted to stay in a cabin and they loved it! The cabin inside is beautiful and has everything you need. From start to end this was a great getaway. Booking and check in were easy and the cabin itself is beautiful. Located on a quiet street with just steps to the river, it was the prefect relaxing atmosphere we were looking for. We spent our days sightseeing and returning to the cabin to sit around the fire or in the hot tub was a perfect end to each adventure.

Just what we needed! A quick few days out of the city! The cabin was beautiful and so clean! We saw deer everyday! The river was gorgeous and our boys played in it daily. Luray Caverns isn’t far at all and a lot of fun too. I do reccomend taking extra towels and wash clothes.

This property was CLEAN, well supplied and the communication with the owners consistent and helpful. We only wished there was a washer/dryer on site and the upstairs had a larger bed and more privacy for those staying in the loft. Other than that it was a great stay and a getaway that created great memories. Thank you!

Beautiful clean cabin on the river!
We rented this cabin and the one directly beside it- so that made it more private. The sound of the river is so peaceful -both cabins are beautiful, very clean and had everything we needed- the only problem was there is no wifi- which we knew before arriving but there also is little to no phone service with Verizon - so it was hard to communicate with family etc.- everything else was great- the owners had quick response and were very kind.

Great place to unplug
We had the best time at this cabin. We spent most of our time on the back porch looking at the beautiful river. Not having wifi was a pleasant surprise and allowed us to fully unplug. We loved exploring the creek across the land on the front side of the property. Can’t wait to visit this place in warm weather. I imagine it is a blast!

My fiancé and I had a wonderful and relaxing stay. We didn’t do a lot just cooked and sat by the fire pit and hung out. The only small problem was that the instructions were given the same day right before arrival and the Internet out there isn’t great so it took a while to get them open.
