We have the entire Cottage thoroughly inspected and treated every month for all bugs (including bed bugs) and Orkin found absolutely no evidence of any bed bugs, biting spiders or any biting insects either before or after your stay. We would be more than happy to provide the full inspection report to anyone that would like to see it. No one likes to think they could be the source of a bed bug, lice or other pest however since a bug could only live for a few hours after walking on the floors or walls due to the applied treatment Orkin believes your friend inadvertently brought whatever type of bug she found into the Cottage with her luggage or from the forest outside. Since the bug was crushed and unrecognizable (per your own admission) it could not be confidently identified by you, your friend or our pest control company and we will therefore never know what kind of insect it was or even if your friend had an allergic reaction instead of bites. Thankfully whatever it was resolved within days and your friend is now fine. We are sorry you didn't feel you had a five star experience like the vast majority of our guests over the years. We are truly sorry you didn't have the five star experience we strive to provide. Regretfully you didn't notify us about the hot tub until after you checked out, the several months old circuit board and heater had shorted out and was replaced and working perfectly later that day. The base rate includes two guests, there is an extra charge of $25/guest/night when there are more than two guests. We never thought it was fair to charge a couple the same as a group of thirteen when in reality it costs much more to host a larger group and on a per person basis it's still very reasonable compared to getting multiple hotel rooms or another home and 40 acre property such as ours. This is our way of keeping the Cottage affordable for a romantic getaway while also accommodating larger groups. We take great pride in the cleanliness of the Cottage (your complaint is the first in many years) and have ample extra supplies of all kinds in the laundry room including individual bars of soap and soap dispensers, paper towels, trash bags, and most anything you can think of. We tell all of our guests that we are always a text, email or phone call away and yet sadly you never reached out. We would've done our best to make things right. Best Rob and Heather

Thank you for your review! We appreciate the opportunity to clarify the sleeping arrangements. Although our Cottage is certainly not ADA compliant we have two nephews that use wheelchairs for assistance that have enjoyed the Cottage on multiple occasions. The loft actually has two extra long twin beds within it and is 7 ft above the living room. The queen bed in the stairwell is actually 4 1/2 ft higher than the landing with a custom made step stool. Finally the couch has a pull out automatically inflatable and adjustable mattress which is very comfortable. We are so glad you enjoyed the hot tub, stunning views, large fireplace and other spaces.
