Perfect cabin, tucked away
We were looking for a quiet place to relax between our adventures around southern IL. This cabin was perfect. It was clean, had anything we needed (except wi-fi), the front porch, back porch and surroundings provided a peaceful place to enjoy the outdoors. We would recommend this to others or even go back again ourselves.

Absolutely wonderful!
Booking At Joanne’s “Cabin on the Hill” property proved to be the most wonderful experience, from booking to checkout! Beautifully decorated, well-stocked, and all the comforts of home, this property offers, privacy and with full appreciation of nature! Great location and close to many nature trails and wineries! We would definitely stay here again!

Great Secluded Cabin
This cabin was perfect. Very clean and very secluded. No wifi, and no cell service for mint mobile. It was peaceful and relaxing. The cabin was extremely well stocked, and the owner was so great and easy to communicate with. We will definitely be back!

Girls Wine Weekend

The most perfect place!
You will not regret booking this beautiful quaint cabin in the woods. The place was clean and had absolutely everything we could think off. The owner was communicative, making sure everything was good with our stay. We would love to return in the spring when everything is green and alive! Beyond our wants and wishes!
Our stay was so peaceful and kick backed with every comfort you could want! The fire pit and screened porch was such a Sanctuary! Enjoyed coffee from the front porch every morning. We watched deer coming down the lane in the early morning from the kitchen. Lots of wildlife at night to hear...great horned owls and coyotes howling. Starlit nights and watching the moon rise. This place is a must on your bucket list!! The host has the highest rating in our book!!

Relaxing getaway
Very peaceful. Set back away from other properties. It was a little hard to find at night but once we found the right place, it was amazing. Close to blue sky and feather hills wineries. We relaxed by the fire pit. The house was very clean. Had most anything we would need. No Wi-Fi and very limited cell service but that’s what was nice about it. We unplugged and enjoyed each other’s company. We will definitely be returning.

Cozy and Relaxing Cabin Retreat
The cabin was very pretty and very well appointed. It was comfortable and quiet which is exactly what we wanted. The location was good - near wineries and other interesting places plus it was a short ride (less than an hour) to Garden of the Gods in Shawnee National Forest. If you are looking for a place to enjoy the quiet, have a nice evening sitting on the patio around a nice fire, enjoy a meal on the screened-in porch, or stargazing, this is the place.

Beautiful home and surroundings and lovely equipped kitchen where we never have issues cooking some fantastic meals. The beds are super comfy and the sheets are fabulous ! Great getaway spot for enjoying Shawnee National Forest
This is a great, modern cabin tucked back in the hills of southern Illinois, right near Giant City and Ferne Valley National Parks. It's on a beautiful piece of property back off the road with no neighbors in sight. It was well appointed, clean, with a great guide book for everything you need and a nice goodie basket to welcome us on arrival. Comfortable beds, modern appliances and beautiful had crafted wood furniture. Check in and out was a snap and only had 1 question for Joanne and she responded promptly. We will definitely stay again if/when we return to the area.

Cozy Cabin!
The cabin was perfect! Super clean and tidy, all of the amenities mentioned and the hosts left tips and notes around the property to fill us in on all of the details. They had toiletries and snacks ready for us and left us a nice note. We hit up a couple state parks to hike (Giant City and Ferne Clyffe), visited Blue Sky Winery, hit up a swimming/beach area near Carbondale and enjoyed a lot of down time in the cabin cooking, napping and playing games. Lots of great porch/patio space! And the beds were super comfy. Highly recommend and hope to be back soon!

Everything was as advertised, and completely comfortable and warm during our winter visit. Beautiful cabin with a sense of peace and seclusion on a quiet country road. Lovely birds around and great hikes not too far away. Definitely worth a visit, and more like a house than a traditional cabin (in terms of comfort and warmth!). Loved the fire pit outside and front porch.

Relaxing, Quiet and Secluded
My husband and I spent a couple of very relaxing days at this cabin. The cabin is exactly like the pictures. We ate breakfast and drank coffee on the front porch and spent our evenings around the fire pit. So many stars! A short drive to Giant City State Park is worth the trip. Joanne really has everything you need for a wonderful stay. We hope to come back soon and stay a little longer.

Great Cabin near Giant City State Park
We were Very Pleased with this vacation rental. Very nice setting. We visited Giant City State Park and Blue Sky Winery while staying here. The Cabin was very clean and well furnished. The owner had plenty of supplies and extras that you don't usually get with vacation rentals. We used the charcoal grill and found it to be deteriorating, but we notified the owner and she brought a new grill in time for preparing our steaks that night! If you like to star gaze this is the place! We strolled the gravel driveway past the prairie and enjoyed watching monarch caterpillars and green tree frogs. The front porch was great for watching hummingbirds!

We couldn’t have been happier with our stay here. The setting is amazing. The cabin setup is perfect. Mornings and evenings on the porch had hummingbirds and deer join us. Very close to a couple of nice winery’s. Just a great stay all around.

A terrific gem!
This vacation home is in one of the quietest places I can imagine. We sat on the covered porch for hours with no sounds except the hmmmm of the hummingbird's wings and an occasional frog in the woods. The home has a large lawn that makes the interior rooms bright during the day. There are multiple places to sit and relax and to walk. Bring long pants for walks through the woods and open areas. The cabin is an up-to-date beautiful place to hang out and to relax. The kitchen is spotless with new easy to use appliances. There is a large screen television with plenty of channels to watch if you want to do that. We had a terrific time and want to return. Nearby is the Blue Sky winery and just a bit further is the state park lodge with real 1930's styling. We had a good dinner in the lodge dining room. I always thought I had a good sense of direction, but the roads go every whichaway and we were glad we had a GPS to navigate.

High end, relaxing cabin in the woods
This cabin was a wonderful, relaxing getaway nestled in the woods in the heart of the Shawnee National Forest. It was beyond expectations - we enjoyed watching shooting stars while having a fire in the backyard fire pit. There were peaceful, beautiful views from the front porch, and the screened in back porch would have been great for rainy weather. Our weather was perfect, luckily, and we went on a number of amazing hikes through the many trails nearby - Little Grand Canyon, Jackson Falls, Pomona Natural Stone Bridge, and many more. The cabin itself was spotless and had beautiful, high end features, and we enjoyed an outdoor dinner and wine at the Blue Sky Winery 5 minutes away. The whole experience was a terrific vacation that allowed us to really get away from it all. Thanks!

Perfect hidden treasure
This was the absolute perfect getaway. Just what my husband and I needed. The cabin was very secluded and private but also just a short distance to many attractions. The cabin was very clean and the property was kept up nicely. Joanne left us a gift basket on the counter when we arrived, which was so sweet and thoughtful. We enjoyed most of our time sitting by the fire pit and listening to nature. We saw a lot of wildlife, including an armadillo. We even got to see "Chester" one day. A yellow lab that roams the area. He was adorable! We went zip lining, hiking and fishing in the week that we stayed. Overall, the cabin was perfect and we will defenetily be returning!
