Dear JVA, actually the hotel is quite well located near a bus station, in front of the Ferrari factory and in the middle of a well-served area with cycly ways that take you diretly to the centre of Maranello, as you said the taxi went less than 2 km to the centre, so the hotel is not even far. Dear Leonard, please google in Google maps before booking. Maranello is a small town and not reknown for shopping. It is famous for Ferrari. Restaurants are all over the town, it is difficult not to find a good place where to eat. Taxis are indeed difficult to find, but because this is not a big city like Modena or Milan, so be aware of the place where you are travelling to.
